With all that is going on around us, are people thinking of withdrawing from the meetup scene for a while?

Has it got you thinking?

My short answer is no, now here the rest of it, lol..

The Prime Minister and his cronies said yesterday that most people who get the virus won’t know or won’t get sick enough to even visit a doctor, although in extreme cases where the person is particularly old or sick they may die, so I’m not worried about it. I’ve just had surgery and will be returning to work on Friday but I’ve hardly missed a beat so far, not much stops me from anything, lol.

I’m not sure what exactly is going on but it seems that the virus isn’t that bad at all, we don’t even get told to self isolate for the flu and we sure as hell don’t shut half the country down because of it, so I can only assume something else is going on...it is hard not to get swept up in the panic sometimes but the facts just aren’t supporting the theories about this one so I don’t really get it. At this point conspiracy theories are starting to look a lot more believable by the day, the people of the world were starting to reject China, them buying up everything and stripping Hong Kong of their human rights, now all of a sudden we need to stay in our homes and isolate ourselves from everyone and all the other news about how rotten the Chinese regime is has gone away.
Nothing to see here people....

Ms Phoenix.

They could certainly lure me with a spare packet of tp 🤣

In all seriousness, it's blown out big time. Normally, it wouldn't bother us, however my mother lives in our house at the moment. She has terminal cancer and getting sick can be the end of her life 😥.

This current situation means we are all vigilant with hand washing, public places we visit. We haven't stocked up on any items and more than we usually would, I generally have many cans, pasta bottled sauce etc in the cupboards anyhow.

Oh, and tp? We ordered it online from who gives a crap and a box of 48 was on our doorstep the next morning.

.

There was some difficulty in getting this topic approved so please do not mention/name individual events.

I felt that there was a need to provide a place where we could discuss the upcoming difficult period for this lifestyle and the health and safety of those within it.

You've changed your name.

The 20's are certainly off to a roaring start. I think protection and isolation are some good strategies that will help us all through. I wait in hopeful anticipation for the vaccine.

I am not part of the lifestyle I just like certain forum topics, so I don't have to think about altering my behaviour. In answer to your question though, yes I think it would be prudent for people to screen a little harder and ask questions.

I also think people will not say they've travelled overseas, or have had a cough or fever if they think they may be on for sex. On the other hand, I also think that most people, in their essence, are decent and would probably not put themselves out there if they are feeling unwell.

Im worried......

But not enough right now to cancel social nights out. Here in Perth someone who tested positive attended a concert while she awaited the results. A few hundred people were at that same concert. Selfish action, yes...... will they all become ill? I dont think so. (Im more worried about all the guys who have told me they dont wear condoms.) Its early days yet. I just hope it doesnt become the "media" predicted pandemic that is causing all the hysteria.Or all our lives will be greatly affected

I was just walking my dogs and realised I hasn't answered your original question!

In relation to meeting others/ other couples, I don't think it would stop us, however we may not be keen for meeting in a crowded public place.

I just saw this post is related to a particular upcoming event? Not sure... depends just how busy it is meant to be

In short, no.

Not sure if there's anything affecting our community as opposed to the general community?

As for meeting up and going out in general, the same risks always apply. Catching an illness, getting sick from food you eat, having a car accident on the way there, being involved in some random crime.

On the long weekend I went to a rodeo, went to an airshow, went out with friends for lunch. If there's a meet and greet I'll come along.

Going out is also to still try and find that special person. If there's any reason to restrict going out, at least it would be nice to restrict it with someone else present ;)

It seems most times l attend a "gathering" l end up with a cold/flu due to saliva exchange. So yes CT, there is a difference unless at your general community gatherings you kiss or fuck a number of others.....

Not an issue

The media are drumming up clickbait and the government are trying to make up ground over there totally inept handling of the bushfires.

This is not a zombie apocalypse it’s a bad flu, yes the elderly and the immune compromised are vulnerable but they have always been vulnerable.

Seems the biggest issue is the education system. Critical thinking is at an all time low.

Nope , just going on with life as usual and in general trying to avoid unwell, and stupid people ,I had a bit of a cold a couple of weeks ago , as much as we wanted to go to a party ,we didn’t put of general consideration of others , just as we would any other time ,hopefully most do the same

There was a piece in the paper discussing the risks of swingers parties during the pandemic..
And a friend of mine in Hong Kong says the sex workers are having a tough time.
So i guess we have to stay at home and jerk off, except that there's no tissues or hand sanitizer....
What would Tom Hanks do?

We dont have the choice we normally have..

We never went on that hysterical shopping binge . BUT ' its hard not to get caught up in it completely . Regardless ' you still need the necessities ' so you go to the shop and see all the shelves empty and feel the need to at least grab something .. ? Just in case ?

Today the virus was declared a world pandemic , so you just can't dismiss this as a over reaction.

I'm still trying to get my head around everything that's happening and cant help but think there's a possible bigger picture . I'm aware of the conspiracy theories between the US and China and wonder what's really what ? But I won't go there...

As far as meeting anyone ? I definately dont see it as a priority and if l did , we would prefer to meet at a low key venue for their safety and ours.

Tom Hanks and his wife were reported as contracting the virus on the Gold Coast today ... So it's not fussy who it infects.

Irony

Most people practice a strange mix of personal preference V hypocrisy

We will SAY we practice good hygiene, and then through naivety or our own choosing, we do the opposite

Classic and simplest example in here.... someone says theyre all about safe sex at all times.... but they post a dogging or glory hole topic where having sex with total strangers is given no second thought

Or, as i saw earlier today..... parents clean their kids hands with hand sanitizer...... but let them lick a train seat

So ill summarise..... everything is fine, until you get an offer you choose not to refuse

Makes sense. Shutting down entire borders just because of a media frenzy and a bad flu......
More like governments know a little more than what the media knows.

Anyway, the latest is being sent home from work if you have any cold/ flu symptoms and not permitted to return unless you have a medical clearance. However, you won't be tested unless you have been in the high risk category of being overseas or close proximity of a confirmed case. But you will have to wait several hours to be told to fuck off from the testing station. So good luck with that if you get a cold.
Mind you, it should be standard policy to be sent home if you have a cold even in normal times.

What may be an issue

Is if after all is said and done and the governments of the world are seen to be crying wolf will the public cooperate when we have a really nasty health threat ?

Local transmission is happening now in Australia

so, if you have a respiratory illness AND it can't be explained by other causal factors AND you are in an area of local transmission then you are a SUSPECT CASE. Technically therefore you should be screened for COVID-19.
