Alias

November 29 2014

I have come across a few guys who have changed their name and then told me after they have met me that it isn't their real name and then what it really is. I found one of them was particularly confusing because he looked more like the first name he gave me than his real name. Have you used an alias before? Was there any reason you chose the name you did? If you haven't used an alias before what name would you choose for yourself and why? How do you feel when someone has told you they are someone they are not? I have never used one and I am not sure what name I would pick. I am a terrible liar and I would let slip my real name anyway. I don't even have a favourite name that I love to use and I have never imagined myself as anyone other than my real name. I did have Bailee picked out for a girls name and all I had was boys so maybe I could use that one, hypothetically of course, I could never pull it off.

I have changed my name a few times, particularly my last name for a variety of reasons...not to be deceptive though...I have always absolutely loathed my first name.. for many years I used a shortened version but about twelve years ago I decided to change my first name to one that actually suits me...and I have reverted back to my original last name...confusing yep:-) ...

I've done it. I chose a name very close to my own, but different enough to make me feel a bit safer. Also, when I'm ever called by this name, I instantly know that it's a person who only knows me via RHP. (I do the same thing sometimes when filling out something online I don't completely trust. It makes it easy to recognize any emails I later get calling me by that name as spam, without having to open them.) MissBB might well be right, though I think if the men were taken they wouldn't tell you their real name after meeting either.

well Tara keeps pinching my cape, she tells me it keeps her warm and safe and hot and bothered, if you look you can see it draped over her ride on mower. But it does not make her Batman either, how can a girl be Batman?, its just wrong, but kinky never the less.

I recently had a coffee meet with someone who after meeting, indicated that the name she gave me wasn't her real name, she was older than her profile age, didn't want to say where she lived or what she did for a living or a host of other things. Which is fair enough I suppose, given we hadn't met before and she was on site without hubby's knowledge. BUT - she then took a whole pile of convincing that my actual name was the name I'd given her and that my age was accurate. Apparently there are thousands of blokes masquerading as 'John' and 44 is some sort of magic age that sneaky guys try and use. Did my head in. It never went further. If you're being dodgy and you're caught out, that's fine. But to be subject to constant accusations of this type when you're actually telling the truth - Jesus wept. Oh shit - did I give away my first name? Gaaaaaah!!!!!!! Waiting for the world to end..... Not. - Posted from rhpmobile

I was in a pub in the middle of nowhere, north west Queensland, where a guy that made me feel uneasy came up to me, introduced himself and put out his hand to shake. For some reason, I shook his hand and told him my name is Brian. I don't know why that name came to mind but, since then, I always tell people I'm not sure of that Brian is my name.

You as well Ruby? I too have used my profile name (or a derivative of such) in initial messages and meetings and have long since answered to it. I even have friends introducing me to non-RHP people as Rusty, whilst I'm trying to introduce myself with my real name. The confusion in their eyes is transferred through their handshake, it suddenly stops as they try to make sense of it. I see it as a nickname now and, dependent upon the situation and my read of the person, will tell them that it's my online profile name (without mentioning which site) or that it is just a nickname. And Funlover?I'm sure that the stories of the life of Brian would be quite interesting. Seeing that you're not the Messiah but just a very naughty boy. CheersRusty

I have a quite unique first Christian name, so I will generally not divulge it in an initial meet and will wait until I get to know someone a bit better before I will let on. Only a few here know my name, but I have used one of my other christian names as an 'alias' before I get comfortable with others. Tall

It has been a while Ruby, I'm glad to see a familiar erm.... legs? around here. Thank you, it's good to be back. Aww shucks Meander. Thank you. It's nice to know that even my temporary "warning notice" is appreciated. (I might just leave it as it is now.... forever teasing that a newer, better one is on it's way) I must say that I feel the same way about yours. Think I may have made a mistake moving North from Brissie instead of South. It's good to see that the forums still contain intelligent, beautiful women. CheersRusty

My real name is very distinctive - The product of hippy parents in the sixties, and I haven't found any the same name as mine on anyone else in Australia, so I use an alias I can connect with. I love history, and a good story, and Geoff Chaucer he had a cheeky irreverent humour towards sex, the church and authority. Chaucer.

Been using my alias/adopted name for nearly 40 years which was also my original stage/working name. I can count on one hand the number of people that know both our names. Playmates have asked what my birth name is but I just look at them and flutter my eyelashes like a bimbo. You can work out who I am by saying "Annie" in a public place. I'm the only guy that spins around and says "yes" without thinking much about it and then dissolves back into the crowd and out the nearest exit.

For obvious reasons. Have given my real name BUT people just seem to go with Indy mostly and that's cool with me, I answer to it. As for other people, yes have found out real names, yes SHOCKED considering I've known them for quite a loooong time, years even!! Still call them by the name originally given to me though, just easier that way given incompany who know no better that that's safest. Respecting the reasons is the best way, others it just became habit. Perhaps referring to it as a nickname would sound a little less clandestine than alias. Not everyone is the cloak and dagger type. If I'm going to knife you you'll see me coming and I'll be calling you all sorts of things besides your alias 😈😇😄😂😏

Hi! ralf74.Thanks for the tread.:) I have come across Guys using and Alias and I think why bother with that crap .Just share your 1st Name after all ones Name is the essence of who you are. I don't have the Inclination to stalk the Guy at Home...I do use My Nickname "Lu", because it has very strong calming healing energies and helps Connecting with Others on all Levels as I do.. I share My Name and I don't care who knows he! he! ,but ask them to use "Lu"because it's what I'm known by when Interacting on a Personal and Spiritual Level..:) My Name "Lynda" is a cool Woman too, but she deals with daily things signing Contracts ,shopping etc."Nana Lu" and "Mum" only come out for Family gatherings he! he!..So Guys share your Christian Name .If you're so afraid of being caught out then maybe you shouldn't be seeking online anyway. Odds on something will come to light whatever name you use..Enjoy Lu:)

I don't always think that people use an alias to hide but some use them for protection. I have never been in a position where I have had bad experiences with anyone online that I feel the need to protect my identity and fortunately my name is common. It does lessen the trust though when people do lie to you, even if it is for their own safety.

I use one initially because I don't want my ex to find me. Hence why my profile is also fairly anonymous. I will always tell someone my real name when I meet them though. - Posted from rhpmobile
