Anybody familiar with Dunk Island, Qld?

June 17 2009

Hi folks, My wife and I are heading up to Dunk Island very soon. We’re looking for any hints/tips from locals or people who know the island well. We're primarily interested in where we may find (if at all) a secluded beach for topless/nude mischief. We’ve got a beachfront room that overlooks the obvious, so our exhibitionist streak will get a serious workout! Anything you can share with us would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all :)

Beautiful place but we haven't been there since our honeymoon 23 years ago. I't high time we returned I think. Last time we took one of the catamarans and sailed off to a nearby island... if you want to root on the beach naked for the day... that's one way to do it. Some of the islands nearby are privately owned ... but hey... how are you to know.

My Nan went there about 20 years ago. I'm not sure if she'd really have the information you're after tho. LOL! It is a very beautiful place tho, so I'm sure you'll enjoy it. While we're asking the travel experts... I'm thinking about going to LA and NYC in August... any tips?

Yes, there is a nice beach around to the right of the main resort/beach (when looking at the beach from resort). Walk along the beach front in front of the resort to the right, nearly the end of the beach you'll see a sign to a track, follow the track to climb the mountain (cant remember its name), take the fork to the beach left (cant remember its name either :). Its a nice beach, well known for a bit of skinny dipping, so you'll be lucky to get it to yourselves. No-one cares though, I was there with an ex b/f and we had a great time ;) Otherwise you take a dingy and go out to the little island, bit more privacy, can do what you like ;)

I remember exactly where she is describing and that is the one. I was there once and we were on the beach for about 4 hours before anyone came by. Other suggestion would be to go horse-riding and ask the guide for some suggestions to secluded beaches, they will know them all for sure! Have fun, wish i was there!

jamncream has the right place, i use to work on the island and had good time on that beach, when you get to the beach ,keep walking around the rocks and you will come across a very big flat rock that holds the water from the last tide, your very own spa and away from the people the beach is also knowen as staff beach , just ask a staff member best thing to do is get on with the staff and they will tell you what you want to know( and if a staff party is on go to it they are great)
