shoot over to Pattaya, lots of Aussies over there. There is also Walking Street over in Pattaya which has a vibrant night life from what I am told, I only went in the day as part of a tour though but even in the day time, it looks fun. Do a bit of a google search and check out some things to do, Trip Advisor gives you great ideas and realistic feedback and scores from other travellers.

I actually did a day trip from Bangkok to the Tiger Sanctuary, the place where the monks look after the tigers. There were tigers everywhere and I got to play with 5-6 baby tigers and feet them and they played with me like they were little cats. I had a tooth mark in my knee because one got a little frisky. They were stunning and beautiful and I have the most amazing photos. Walking around the big cats was a little freaky. I sat next to a huge tiger and had my hand on his back and had some pictures taken. His paw was bigger than my head, and at one point he turned to look around at me and I swear I was that close to shitting my pants. I have since learned that the tigers are someone what sedated or so I have been told ........ which now makes sense because how could you have all those tigers walking around free and all those people as well. Not really sure how to feel about that. Feeding those baby tigers was the most amazing gorgeous thing I have ever done though.

I've been..seen....and even got a t-shirt! It's beautiful city, lots of hidden dangers tho. Watch out for "Big Buddha's birthday" - many local Tuk Tuk and Taxi drivers will mention it and they will scam and take you via gem traders (where they are commissioned) as well..always make sure they have their meters on - it's a must! Shopping is great and pretty awesome. MBK, Central World (Siam) are pretty awesome - if you get a chance the floating markets are great also...We hired a private boat to take us there via the river, was worth seeing close up people/lifestyles/homes living by the river. Enjoy and best of Luck - Bangkok is totally unforgettable. :) Foxy

"one night in Bangkok ...." I guess it depends what youa re doing for the rest of your FLOP holidayBangkok as a city is buzzing and humming - it NEVER sleepsthere is so much to see and dothere are lots of temple and the palace is prettyyou can go to the floating markets - very touristy but nice to tick off the listthere is a snake farm at the end of Silom road, it is actually a collection place (thailand has like 7/10 most poisonous snakes in the world) for the red cross, they have a snake show which is interesting - worth a quick 1hr visitas Foxxy mentioned, great shopping, MBK is fab but be wary everywherea couple of points to note, the King of Thailand s born on Tuesday so most people where YELLOW (his chosen colour) on tuesdays, its kinda nice to join in the celebrationalways stick to the main streets - have a few close calls off main streets in tiny soi's (side streets)if your looking for somewhere to stay, the CITY is bestsilom road is good, close to most thingsas mentioned by someone above, Pat Pong 1 & Pat Pong 2 are the hustle and bustle of the NIGHT markets and red light area - during the day is normal cbd street but at night comes alivebutterfly sanctuary is very peacefulthe nightlife is WORLD CLASS as to street vendors selling food - if its steaming hot and cooked in front of you - eat awaythe skyrail is good to get aroundtaxis are plentiful so too are tuk tuk'sa day trip to anyone of the close by attractions is nice but more often than not requires several hours in a slow vehicle in each directionthe tiger monastry is awesome and photo opportunites are great the one big thing I can recommend when visiting Thailand, Bangkok (or any place for that matter) is to be respectful of the people and its cultures and customs enjoy, have fun ohhh and if you get the chance, a banana rottie with choc sauce mmmmm or kanormkop mmmmand dont but one of those stupid croaking frogs lol

Upinthesky2...that's too funny!! Have decided that we just can't do Bangkok in two nights and do it justice - Tiger Sanctuary would be great (Thanks Meeka) but I think we will leave it for another trip. So...Phuket and then Khao Lak it is! Break out the bikini!!!Thanks to all for your help.Mrs Fx

go for drinks at Vertigo Bar 61st floor Banyan Tree Hotel open air roof top bar that gives 360 degree views of city, expensive by it is fabulous, opens at 5 when no rain, good clothes only. dinner or lunch at Cabbages and Condoms in Soi 12 off Sukhumvit, the most fabulous food and atmosphere, should not be missed. shop till you drop at MBK, even the locals shop here, eat, drink, shop you need go no place else if you are looking to buy anything. Nana Plaza, Soi Nana off Sukhumvit, 3 floors of girly bars and flashing lights, drink in open air downstairs or in any off the bars, an experience that's to be sure. Get a private long tail to tour through the klongs (canals) takes an hour or so and is just amazing. best place is down the alley beside the Sheraton opposite side of hotel to River City mall and if you want the most incredible carvings, silk or up market handicrafts River City is place to go. Sooooo much fun in Bangkok you need 2 weeks not 2 days
