Beards....turn on or turn off?

October 03 2014

Hey ladies and gents of RHP....thought id pop my forum cherry and ask a question regarding Beards! They don't tickle everyones fancy but they do tickle in all the right places ;) haha Ok so i currently have a beard...im not always bearded but i do dabble on and off with growing facial foliage and have currently grown mine out. Since becoming a member of RHP i have noticed this can be a deal breaker in some cases. As happened tonight actually being the most recent case. Im totally fine with that obviously...i think its great to be honest and if it stopped me from getting between the sheets with a female or couple then thats cool I'm totally aware its not everyones cup of tea. Now that I've babbled on about Beards too long....what is everyones opinions on facial hair. Love it? Hate it? Stopped you from wanting to bed someone? or made you yell for joy for free beard rides. Im interested to hear....go!

I don't like beards. I wouldn't date or leap into bed with a bearded guy (or girl for that matter) A short goaty is as far as I would go. - Posted from rhpmobile

I have a mo, and have had it pretty much all my adult life (only shaved it off twice, both times in my late teens). I know for sure that some ladies do not like mo's/ beards, as some have said so. Can't help that, and it doesn't bother me. It's been a long term part of my life, and I'm quite fond of it. To me, it's somewhat similar to others who may sport a tat, for example. But I do find it a little shallow when some will reject you for just that piece of hair growth, and completely ignoring the other inner qualities you have to offer someone. Their loss though. Tall

There seems to be a trend amongst the younger Perth guys at the moment, beards must be cool. I like some stubble, but much prefer clean shaven. Saying that, if I met someone and we got on extremely well, I could see past the small matter of facial hair. But my preference is smooth.......

Only because stubble/facial hair gives me a chin rash that stings ( after kissing ) so I like a very smooth face ☺️

i find beards on men can be beautiful but not the Gandalf the Grey or zztop style. Just a bit, I think the Ryan Gosling look. I prefer clean shaven men as I like to see their face in full light, lips, smiles, dimples (yes please) and chin and jawline can enhance a man's attractiveness. It seems very hip for the 20 and 30 somethings to sport it and it may look really manly for some. I have sensitive skin so prefer clean shaven men when kissing them. I can scratch easily. For that matter, I have only dated cleanshaven men.

No, my mo is not quite a 'handlebar' version. Handlebars usually stop along the line of the top lip, and are then curled up in an exaggerated fashion, and in the past have been kept in form with some types of wax (as keeping that curl is not generally natural). I have allowed mine to grow downwards past the side of my mouth, in essence being part of where a beard could be started. Don't know if it has a particular name for that shape. But I have gone thru' stages of different shapes - most seem to prefer it just being kept along the top lip, but I will grow it various ways, just according to my whimsy at the time. Thanks,Tall

It's not the beard, it's the individual! I have a short beard. I'm often told (and I agree) it makes me much more striking than I'd otherwise be without it. I have a slight baby face without it. Funny lookin'. It brings out my high cheekbones and eyes and bum. I've been knocked back even after great dialogue with people here when they see my chin garden. It's difficult to give an accurate presence of yourself online. Ive had lovers who don't like beards enjoy mine...and sometimes me behind it. A woman I was seeing earlier this year didn't like kissing me when I was clean shaven. My skin and immediate regrowth were horrible (apparently) compared to the lush, soft, silky pleasure cloud of freed follicles about my face (apparently). And It's only a short beard! I groom! I groom!!! Please give us a break. Please, beardists. My humbled, gracious love to the beard-o-philes for their support in this forum.

I had a Beard, then a "Merv Hughes mo' for 30yrs, I thought it suited me, I now just have "tickler" under the lip, most comments have been positive, one chick even said I looked 10yrs younger. So I'm gunna' stick with it and if nice FWB lady want's to see me regularly with a Mo, I'll oblige. Cheers P.L.

Chad and as for the beard, they are fine but they do hurt like a bitch if your a bit sensitive down at the Yto the reference of gandaf, kinda beards There is a guy on here who has that and I never thought it would appeal to me but god it was so soft . His hair was also very long and when he lent over me and kissed me , his long hair made a veil effect it was very intimate. As odd as that sounds, it was the most erotic kiss I ever had. So do not knock it till you tried it. But if you have a harsh stubbly , it can cause the pash rash and the pussy rash see ya down the beach sometime

I did not mean to offend, and it was not my point, (regarding Johnny Depp or George specifically) only a generalisation regarding ceilibs. Firstly I think a beard hides too much of a man's face. I am with Koko, Sweetness and Mrs TTF. I much prefer a smooth, close shave. I have delicate skin and find man's facial hair is like sandpaper (unless he has great technique). I love the sexiness that is stubble, but I don't want pash rash on any part of my body. So therefore I do avoid them. - Posted from rhpmobile

I went all 'red beard the pirate' for a while (and yes, it was almost flaming red). i would be offshore for months on end, not a woman for 300 miles, so WHO CARES?More recently, my beards and goatees come and go. some women like no beard, say it makes me look young. others like the 'distinguished older gentleman' look, i guess.I guess it is all on who they are THINKING they are having sex with, a younger guy or an older guy.Would hope it was just ME.

The beard is a definite turn on for me - yes they seem to be a fashion accessory at the moment, with all types being sported. My personal opinion is that they make the man. Facial hair is definitely a turn on and should be left to grow of its own accord as much as possible. Glad to hear that you have let it grow out - as there is nothing as bad as a guy who claims he has a beard - only to find that he hasn't shaved for 3 days and even worse, has manicured the shave. Hope that helps.

I have been known to grow a beard or mo. It is one of those things that I do from time to time really at a whim.Inside a month I get a fairly good one growing. The thing I have found is that if I shampoo and condition it the same as my hair it stays nice and soft and not course like it can be otherwise. Reactions to either is as other posters have said, some LOVE it and others HATE it, it is purely a personal preference, really it is just like all things in life, we chose what we want and ignore or discard the rest. My ex had a goatee that was like a wire brush. It made him look older than what he was and he refused to ever shave it off including for our wedding. Then he went and pissed off with another woman and off it came! Amazing. My 2nd son sports a beard and he is a redhead but he pulls it off. I was telling him to shave it off then when he did, I said, grow it back, lol. He had such a babyface without it also. His girlfriend loves it.
