  but there are still some good venues for live music (depending what you're after). A lot of the small bars have bands. The Bearded Tit in Redfern or Lazy Bones, Camelot Lounge and The Gasoline Pony in Marrickville are all good.

  Melbourne is fantastic for live music. In fact I'm out tonight at a Bob Jovi and Def Leppard night at Lucky 13, Moorabbin. But there's always loads of venues that have resident bands etc. My wife's an 80s tragic and she's always going to places with friends. - Posted from rhpmobile

  We've had a couple of good nights out at Lucky 13 too and highly recommend it as a live band venue. They get a good crowd for a relatively small place. At the other end of the scale, last night we saw Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood at Rod Laver Arena. What a show!

  Depends on the type of music you like. Putting a big tick next to Rick_Blaine's suggestions, and adding; Frankie's Pizza, Midnight Special, Newtown Social, The Basement, Corridor, Soda Factory. I hope others add to the list.

  I have heard the basement in sydney is pretty good. I used to watch the show about live concerts there in the early 2000's. The abc used to show it. I haven't been there yet but I should make a point of going there - Posted from rhpmobile
