Burning Man

December 06 2016

Has anyone been to the Burning Man? What's your experience? What was really fascinating about it? What kind of interesting people did you meet? I know someone who lived in San Fran and has gone over there 3x already and still hooked. Was it your thing? I'm not sure if it would be for me... - Posted from rhpmobile

I'd love to go one day though, I love the construction/maker element that gets shown off there.

you just take a weeks worth of supplies, alcohol, whatever... cruise around in the dessert, do whatever you feel, whenever you feel with whoever you feel like doing and of course encounter the occasional sand storm where you think it might be the end of you... huddling to keep warm. I know there's an orgy tent there (there's probably a few) - feel the love...definitely, a place I would go to get away from myself and be someone else lol if travel can do that... I wonder what heights Butning Man could take me to... :O Lots of CEOs, including Elon Musk have been. People from all walks of life go to find inspiration and their spiritual side. - Posted from rhpmobile

Out of all the festivals THIS is the one I covet - damn having kids to look after and bills ;) For me it's a multitude of things. The art installations first and foremost but the art carts, bartering system, unusual location and mix of eclectic people and passions ❤️ I don't have an actual bucket list but if I did, Burning Man would be on there for sure!

WOW, I was more interested in Burning Man than even I realised (posting while in an area with a dodgy connection can do that to you)

Over here in the west in a town called Kulin they have an event called the Blazing Swan. We've never been but I hear it is based on the burning man. It may be worth a look, bit closer than the USA 🇺🇸

I'm booked in to attend in 2018. I'll be staying with friends in the states and attending together. They are all BM veterans and very talented artists so I can barely contain my excitement at the creations that we will be driving up in and creating together. I attend most of the popular Aussie bush doofs and whilst no where near as big, they share elements in common. Art, spiritualism, self expression, amazing psytrance music and let's just be honest here - lots of drugs. On this note I wonder if BM will have the same open minded drug culture? At the last doof I attended we had multiple drug dealers openly approach us asking if we needed this or that. To their credit they were very polite, although that can be confronting to people who don't engage in drug use. Especially when you witness people blowing out on GHB, near overdosing - it can be scary. Also, in my opinion, these places are not appropriate for children. The scene has evolved from it's original family friendly origins and many still allow children to attend with their families despite the many dangers this presents. Despite this, I love the freedom and liberation of these events. Bring on '18! - Posted from rhpmobile
