Canberra meet and greet?

April 24 2018

Mrs and I ventured to our first club recently and loved it. Trouble is, It was in Sydney. We’d like to meet people like minded that we can share laughs, time and maybe other things a bit closer to home without the conservatives tut tutting at us. Now I know Canberra is a small town but there are quite a few people on rhp that have Canberra as their location. So has there ever been, or interest in, a meet and greet/party for Canberrans? Or do we have to travel to Sydney to do it? Not offering to organise it as we are newbies, but would be keen! Thanks. T - Posted from rhpmobile

Mmmmmm very interested but cautious as Canberra is such a small place. But as a few people have said, everyone interested is in it for the same or similar things. But there is still some anxiety about seeing someone that you have to work with or see regularly around town. Ah, Canberra and the public service mentality lol 😝 - Posted from rhpmobile

Lived there a few years ago and it was very much a case of nothing happening as people were too scared to run into their bosses. But I can see what looks to be a very well attended party happening in Fyshwick this weekend (advertised in the Events section) so wondering if the attitudes aren't changing a little for the better?

We were living in Canberra up until mid last year and personally hosted 2 meet and greets in the city in a private room of a public bar. We had one in July 2016 and March 2017. There were approximately 25 - 40 couples that attended each of these. It's quite a time consuming process to organise an event and as has already been said, Canberran's are extremely cautious about attending public events. Hopefully someone will put something on again rather than just the play parties.

We have been talking about hosting Meet n Greets in Huskisson/Jervis Bay for some time. We think it’s around 2 hours from Canberra, a sleepy coastal town, but comes alive on weekends & holiday season. The beaches have the whitest sand & Scottish rocks we’ll something is always happening there & other secluded beaches.

There are some lovely people who host private parties in Canberra and we also attended the meet and greets organIsed by wineandfuntimes (thanks guys!). As mentioned already, there is a party on this weekend - it’s in the events section. So why not go to the party - you just might meet some great people and then get invited to some private parties. Happy times ! - Posted from rhpmobile
