One; Men will just assume it's a "fuck me " sign. Two; Most women don't have the courage. Mostly due to number one.

I have sometimes, but it's usually more about clothing than physical features. I saw a guy today, actually, wearing a fantastic shirt, that fit him really well, and was a great colour. He was standing next to me while I was ordering a coffee. I caught his eye and smiled, and as I walked off with my coffee said "I really love that shirt." He looked a little flustered, and then said "oh wow, thanks". I think context is important too - I doubt I'd say something in an alcohol fuelled party or bar, because of exactly what FIgs says above. But I do like receiving compliments, so I also try to give them when I can, both to people I know and random strangers.

How drunk I am and whether I've run out of drinking money 😉 No - actually I haven't been out drinking in years! Tbh I cannot remember the last time I complimented a male stranger except for on RHP. Pretty sad when I think about it! I'll smile and admire a lot and I'm known to give a little wink. But verbally I haven't - maybe it's something to start doing.

I haven't compliment Ed them verbally but you rarely need to use your voice to convey a compliment. I use body language, a look, a raised eyebrow, a nod, a smile. as to verbal compliments Yes I've given them and regularly at work. It's a friendly thing no sexual content.

I have made eye contact, and smiled and the same has been returned, but never verbalised a compliment But I have complimented lovers on how they look and also male colleagues and funningly enough I might be sitting on the train and complimented say the lady next to me saying what great shoes, handbag, top she may have on and then we kinda of start chatting but no I've never complimented a unknown guy out of the blue And I guess that does come down to two things. Perhaps I am subconsciously aware that it may be viewed as a come on or I'm shy Thinking about it , I guess I'm a little shy.

I think some men might be flattered too, though? As a matter of interest....guys...if a female complimented you, as in Patchwork girl did, saying you dressed well, would you be pleased or automatically think (wrongly) it was a come on?

It's all in the delivery, if she's flirting I'm sure I'd know about it.

Quite a few men I have complimented them on their cologne/aftershave. I also compliment a nice tattoo if I see one on a guy.

I will also compliment fragrance or ink. It's probably because, the same as Summer, I don't mind when people tell me I look great, that they love my hair, or dress, etc, but when someone makes comments specifically about my body parts, it always makes me fee a bit weird. - Posted from rhpmobile

to both guys and girls than I receive myself in 'everyday' circumstances. Context is important though. There seem to be less barriers at play parties or meet and greets, I get told openly when someone finds me attractive then. Personally, I'm all for it, and unless it's followed up with a wink and/or a 'lean in' I just assume it's social, not sexual.

I have to say I don't compliment guys much because it would be seen as, and probably rightly so, a come on. But I do compliment tatts, on women as well, particularly at the beach. Some women have the sexiest tattoos or they look so sexy because of where they're placed

Quoting 'Kokoflamingo' I think some men might be flattered too, though? As a matter of interest....guys...if a female complimented you, as in Patchwork girl did, saying you dressed well, would you be pleased or automatically think (wrongly) it was a come on? she'd be bent over the back of the train seat before you can say "all stops to berowra" because that's how it is is meant.. right? Or I'd just smile, be surprised and say thanks or throw a compliment back her way. I've had them for aftershave, nice shirt, accent, etc... I egotistically assume that when some lady said my Skins were nice during a pre-game warmup, she wasn't actually talking about the particular design of the charcoal coloured lycra and spandex - so I got huffy and reported it (or possibly smirked and did some additional stretches). The following yell suggests the response was taken in the good humour it was intended.

Is the only exception. Thanks for the reminder. I'm more than happy to pay a compliment on a nice piece of art. But in the past when I have complimented a guy or something else to do with his appearance it always seems like he's heard "can I have your number, I want to fuck you." Maybe it's in my delivery though.

I used to get complimented a bit when I was younger for my hair, back in the eighties women wanted my curls without paying for the perm and I liked that. But in the seventies as a child my curls were a bane the little old ladies just had to comment and touch. Yep and I copped the little girl comments too. I sometimes get complimented on what I wear and not because I am a sharp dressed man (enter zz top song) but on my tshirts. My latest has one of my fav. children's book covers on it 'The three robbers' I've been waiting for someone to recognise it and say sweet, that was a book I loved. What I have tended to find throughout life is generally compliments came far more often from the generation before me.

Totally agree that guys take compliments differently. It happened once (only) that a woman came up to me and complimented on my jeans They were true religion and wanted to know were I got them. I was shocked and enjoyed the attention. I felt great for the day and have nearly worn the jeans out. Girls - have a go at complimenting a guy and guys take it as it comes-- a compliment that you are looking after yourself well Have a great day everyone - Posted from rhpmobile

I get embarrassed and fumble for return complement as I was extremely shy as a youth. However a it does give me a lift without a sexual tone. In my 20's I was hit on by quite a few married women which I found uncomfortable

I get women of all ages, shapes and sizes flashing me a smile almost daily (wish theyd flash a bit more) }:D Its usually after eye contact and usually goes no further. Ggrrrrrrr (if only I had more teef) :S Funny story ~:~ In a restaurant the other week an elderly woman of about 70ish complemented me on my hair colour. On leaving the restaurant she smiled as she passed me and said "nice coloured hair".I shave my head so she was obviously talking about my facial hair, funny thing is though Id gotten black tattoo ink on it that morning and instead of scrubbing it off (in a real rush) I just smudged it evenly all over my chin. As my goatee is almost white it came out a nice smokey metallic grey. Anyway after the compliment I thought that I would try that again, long story short, I did, and went to the pub and a few clubs last thursday night. (St Patricks day)The nights going well, met a few nice people had a few drinks and dances and ended up getting on with a girl later in the night. Kiss kiss, Mmmmmmmm good. Not so good! The black tattoo ink is water based and became a little bit soluble after drinking, dancing and kissing etc etcI didnt notice the terrible blueish black smudging surrounding her lips, chin, nose and cheeks in the dim light of the back lounge of the nightclub but several others did when she went to the bar to order more drinks. She didnt know how it got there and I wasnt game enough to tell her as she was fairly angry at the time and had to reapply half of her make-up. I did make a cheeky joke and say that she looked like an Irish terrorist that had been trying to blow up buses by using her lips on the exhaust pipes, its an old joke but ye couldnee halp meself beein Sunt Patties day an all hahahaha you had to be there!

Compliments on the street... stretching my memory there... I got wolf whistled once. I think. I hope... It was at a time when for the World's Greatest Shave (or colour), I had dyed my hair aqua blue. I once had a compliment on my car from two women in another car stopped beside me at a traffic light, does that count? In recent years, my dog has got me attention. Or more correctly, HE gets attention :) And like Tis mentioned, mostly from different generations than mine! - Posted from rhpmobile

I believe compliments should be able to said by both men & women, as long as it is respectful & honest. I would however, most likely be rendered dumb struck and speechless if I received one from a stranger. It would be lovely but I would probably struggle just to say "thank you", which is all that would be required.

Quoting 'Summer_solstice' I must say, that bottle of Dom really suits you! Look at that, easy on here to reply properly. Suspect different in real life though. (Still waiting on the right occasion to drink it though but looking forward to it)
