In the past, forum posts about male circumcision, have caused a huge furore on here. We often wonder why? Lol. But to answer your question. We prefer circumcised penises because for us (in our opinion) they look better and are (again in our opinion ) easier to keep clean. Of course, as far as hygiene goes, this will depend entirely on the owner of the penis and how he uses & cleans it. For example, does he pull back the foreskin during urination? Does he wipe the head off with a piece of toilet paper? Does he pull back the foreskin, and wash away the accumulated smegma (nicknamed "cock cheese") when bathing / showering ? We have no preference as long as its attractive, clean and in working order. I'm uncut and happy to be intact but us guys never had a choice really so it's pointless to judge someone based on a decision their parents made. If I wanted to be pedantic then having a "preference" is "judging" that one is better than the other. As far as cleanliness goes what kind of grown man let's smegma build up... (I know of smegma but never had it) they must never shower. I'm uncut and it's just a normal part of daily hygiene to clean everything properly. Great response, Justin486. For me, the argument about circumcision equating to cleanliness would be a little like removing someone's teeth so that they don't get tooth decay. The other obvious problems with that aside, it doesn't even guarantee that they're going to be naturally clean in the mouth. They still need to actively clean the bits that remain; gums, tongue and cheek cavities; or they'll still end up with gingivitis and bad breath. So why not leave the parts fully functional and intact, and teach them how to use a toothbrush? Ditto when it comes to penile hygiene, though a literal toothbrush might be a bit too harsh in the bristles for that particular job.

We are not sure where you got your information from, regarding male circumcision in Africa and in particular Ethiopia & Somalia. We have lived in Africa and travelled it extensively and can confirm that more than 80% of males, in both Somalia and Ethiopia are in fact circumcised. The same pretty much applies to all African countries. The age of circumcision just varies. In may African countries this happens when the boy becomes a teenager/shortly before he becomes a teenager, and is seen as a "right of passage to becoming a man " Here is a quote for you : The circumcision of both girls and boys is equally perceived as a normal aspect of being a Somali , and the age range of circumcision is similar among both Somali boys and girls (<10 years). It is the mother’s duty to make arrangements for the circumcision of daughters, whereas the father is expected to organize the circumcision of their sons.
