As much as would love to have a closet ful of lovers to suit my range of desires....I dont ...simply based on one little fact Is it simply not me I am not build like that...........and at times I am envious of those who are....Im sure they dont spend many Sat nites alone We are who we ..whether it is conditional or within our DNA - we are who we are... So for me I would rather have a relationship with one where I give my all - if they want it....... exposing myself and allowing myself to be vunerable........with my fragile heart And if my heart should break then I will so now be able to relate fully to all those tragic love songs written, those words of love struck playwrites whose poetry has echoed thru the centuries.....their words wil become part of me ....I have known great love and I hope that I know it again... The Immmortal Beloved - Unsterbliche Geliebte "Remain my faithful only darling, my everything, as I for you, the rest is up to the Gods, what must be for us and what is in store for us Forever thine Forever mine Forever us

I would agree with that, there is safety in numbers...I am definitely not ready to let my heart be broken into millions of tiny pieces again, sharing it with a few "friends" or deciding not to become emotionally involved, helps to not do that so easily... but I guess can then create other problems...What do you do??

I love the intensity and the magic of it, that incredible feeling of being completely met for exactly who you are, exactly where you're at in the moment. It's all too rare in my book. Give me one deep, intense, joyous, painful, vulnerable, exciting, sweet relationship any day, over a series of superficial instant-gratification liaisons.

No for me anyway. Maybe it's just a phase. I'm have so much fun meeting lots of different fantastic people and trying new things to find out what my things are that I couldn't be tied to one person. Well .... You know what I mean!!!;-)- Posted from rhpmobile

would be great for people who are not getting what they want in one place so they can get it in another. My greatest fear of a monogamous relationship in the past was the worry, not of trusting them with my heart, but of losing them due to circumstances beyond either of our control. The over 25 years I've had has been well worth it though, and yes that fear is still there.

I love to lay buy, window shop, maybe try a few things and maybe one day purchase.Defiantly safety net in numbers with Boutiques.Very Strange things can happen and that scares me when I am vulnerable to someone I like - that feeling scares the crapper out of me... Foxy

An interesting way of putting it, Freya, but yes, I've definitely fallen prey to having 'designer lovers' in the last couple of years. I have different 'friends' for different activities - whether it be a boozy night out, night of sweaty skin-to-skin dancing or a quiet one on the sofa with a glass of wine - depending on my mood and what I feel like, I will approach a friend from one of those groups.I love trying new experiences and interchanging between all these different groups, meeting new people.. While some may say that I'm spreading myself a little thin, I don't really have the time nor patience for commitment and/or heartbreak nowadays!

Do you choose a number of different lovers because they have different qualities ,skills or availabilities? - I'd be happy with 1, if I had the choice I'd have a few with polar opposite skills and qualities to allow for mixing and matching. Is your thinking that there is safety in numbers ,which means that you are creating a safety net for your emotions? - Nope... if anything there is emotional danger in numbers if you formed too much of an emotional attachment to more than one and they clashed. Does a non monogamous lifestyle preclude you from deepening any single relationship? - Not if your partner is understanding and you have discussed at enough length including any rules you both agree should be in place. As for the fear of entrusting our hearts to another... I think everyone has that to one degree or another, wether they admit it to themselves or not. A lady friend in Sydney has such a strong fear that she won't let anyone in and it is so obvious to everyone but her, she is a serial dater (registered on 2 mainstream sites and has a date 6 out of 7 nights a week) and has let slip many a good man because she was scared stiff of getting hurt.
