Do dotted, ribbed, or "pleasure" condoms actually make a difference?

August 21 2025

Hey everyone, I’ve mostly used regular condoms but recently noticed there are quite a few options out there—like dotted, ribbed, "pleasure max," and so on. I’ve heard really mixed opinions on whether these actually enhance sensation or make any real difference during sex. I’m curious to hear your experiences—have you found that these textured condoms improve pleasure for either partner? Or is it mostly just marketing hype? Also, are there any specific brands or types you’d actually recommend over the regular ones? Would love to hear some honest feedback—keen to try something new but want to know if it’s really worth it. Thanks in advance!

Ohhh great question.. I'm curious to hear what other's experiences are! For myself I cannot stand them! I am pretty sensitive and perhaps the sensation just isn't my thing. I found in the past they've gone from mildly tolerable to painful real quick. Never pleasurable. It's a no for me 🤷🏻‍♀️ V

I personally cannot stand any textured condoms whatsoever. They're quite painful, especially during a very long session.

Textured, it's a no from me. I prefer the more natural experience and feel of bare skin condoms. IMO There's just something about textured, that irritates me therefore turns me off. . Ms Foxy

Used a ribbed type one time only... the lady complained it was too uncomfortable so i went back to using the smooth skin type.. that stuck and never used one again..

We have both tried them. Rather unpleasant and for me, uncomfortably painful,

My partner occasionally enjoys them, but she needs to be suitably turned on first or else it gets uncomfortable quickly. It's interesting, although not surprising, to see so many women outright dislike them.

Do they feel any different for the men out of interest? Is there any change in sensation in a posture or negative way? I assume they’re built to be “outwardly” responsive? And given how thin they are there would be some effect on one’s knob?

Hate them. It feels like a rubber glove 🧤 The thinner the better for me 😊

I didn’t mind the spotted or ribbed ones in the early days. I think mostly because it was novel and he wasn’t a good match for me. Tried it again in recent years and it was strange, like being banged with a tentacle.

With extra lube I dont mind the different feeling. Wouldn't want to go for hours with them though as they do give extra friction

Personally, I do not like ribbed or bumpy condoms of any sort. It feels weird. I like normal and smooth latex condoms such as Naked by Ansell … or are Naked condoms by another brand..? Zero condoms are great as well. Can’t be bothered looking it up.

The re engineered condom is different than anything else, it’s made by Lelo and has a hexagonal structure which makes it strong but super thin, which means there is hardly noticeable heat transfer and I’m still on the fence as to whether it feels better wearing one or not, bit dear and only in adult stores have we been able to find them. Win win thing. Mado Mado Tara xx
