First concert.

January 07 2018

Who was the first band you saw live in concert and who was the last or if you have tickets to an upcoming show, who are you going to see? My first concert was Pink Floyd in Sydney in 1988 and my next is Foo Fighters on January 27 in Sydney.

1st concert attended INXS, age 16. (Mrs F). Last concert attended - Madonna 2 years ago. Upcoming concerts- Queen & Adam Lambert Feb & Pink in August. Best concert attended over the years - U2, 360 degrees tour along with Jay Zee. Weve lost count of the amount of concerts we have attended, we love our music! Concerts held at "A day out on the green", (Hunter Valley etc), are always great fun!

The Christchurch Town Hall had an opening concert, a series of concerts actually for various types of music from orchestral to rock. I went to the rock concert which was a collection of various bands of the day. It was state of the art acoustics and was held in high regard by many leading bands. Sadly the Town Hall was munted in the 2011 earthquake. Recently I surprised my daughter by taking her to see Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull at the Perth Concert Hall. She enjoyed and so did I. I did find the geriatric audience quite confronting. We both found it quite confronting sharing bar space with the then commissioner of WA police.

Nick Cave Most recent was Midnight Oil at Hanging Rock, on the coldest night ever recorded in history and walked away with double pneumonia as a long-term memory (as opposed to short memory, see what I did there ?) of a fantastic concert I happened to be in the right place at the right time on the eve of the Grand final here in Melbourne last year . I was hanging with some friends at The Howler in Brunswick when we were invited in to a surprise gig, courtesy of Triple R. 200 of us got to see The Killers tear it up as their warm-up gig for the next days performance. Best gig ever. Upcoming Roger Waters, The Necks and Jose Gonzalez

When I was about 15yo - if it can be called a singing act, it was Norman Gunston - live at the local high school gymnasium (the only suitable venue in town) supported by a couple of rock femmes called Cheetah (replete with males shouting "show us yer tits" between most of the song breaks). I think Cheetah were on Countdown a few times so they must have been relatively famous but it didn't deter the locals.

My first concert was either Fleetwood Mac, won tickets from 6PM, or KISS dynasty tour early 80's, dressed up 'n all, both at Perth entertainment center. Yeah ... First 'gig' was Johnny Farnham, but I was about 7 and I fell asleep and missed my favourite song. Tastes have evolved a little since then. Got tickets to The National in March. Actually bought 2 and the +1 is no longer in the picture Saw the Oils recently for the 7th or so time. Most of their live gigs I've seen would be in my top 10 ever.

At the RAS Showgrounds in Sydney Swanee The Angels AC/DC Last band I saw The Angels. After "Doc" had past away, replaced by Dave Gleeson from screaming jets, he did the job admirably. Though did see them a few years ago, at Selinas, after they patched up all there differences. Shit that might have been seven or eight years ago. Doc was possibly the best front man ever. They played with "The Tatts" that night, I think I've seen them once to often, they've played a huge role in my industrial deafness.

Because I reckon the two experiences are different, I'd distinguish between large (arena or stadium) concerts and more intimate pub gigs. First concert was the Angels, Rose Tattoo and the Choirboys at Festival Hall in Melbourne. The Tatts had lost Pete Wells, the guitarist who created their sound and were pointless. The Choirboys were competent. But the Angels were pretty great. I was about 13. First gig was Painters and Dockers at the Tiger Lounge. Blew my tiny 15 year old mind and I've never recovered. Last gig was a band called Taipan Tiger Girls with Zond and No Sister. Blew my tiny 48 year old mind with their different takes on extreme noise. Last concert was probably Leonard Cohen at Hanging Rock (I don't tend to go to large scale concerts, you see). He was amazing and blew my daughter's tiny 11 year old mind.

Pseudo Echo yeah they weren’t too bad. Well they did have key- tars. Those synth guitar things so that was pretty rad. Also amazing hair!! Probably not as great as Kids In The Kitchen but still, I remember being spellbound as a 17 year old😂 We were lucky here in the late 80’s and 90’s loads of venues and constant music touring. I saw bands almost every weekend in my late teens early 20’s. Loved it ❤️ - Posted from rhpmobile

(CONCERT VIRGINITY ONLY) to Buddy Williams back in the early 70'sMy last was KBW and Jenny Talia in Tom Price..... BUT.. one of my MOST memorable, was in a Live band concert out at Bromus Dam in Norseman WA.Where, due to me mistaking another woman's arse end for my then wife's.. (And grinding a hard-on up onto it) and her "Thinking" I was someone else also.. we got hot and bothered in the dust..When we realised we had both fucked up... she looked at me.. and said.. "WFT?".. then said "WTF" again.. and went back to grinding into me.. for about ten minutes.. then grabbed my cock, and led me off the dance dust floor.. There is something I will NEVER regret.. and that is caveman sex like that..We never exchanged names. then went our own ways..KIS!!

It was actually an awesome concert. I really got into the band scene in Brisbane back then. Regurgitator, Magic Dirt, The Fauves, I wont ever forget Sarah McLeod from the Superjesus. Absolutely cranking that gig. Festivals like Big Day Out, Livid just one visit to Splendour always have some cool memories attached. One BDO in particular, I think Limp Bizkit headlined, I was standing at the trough, draining my wee little man when I looked around and realized I was surrounded by chicks with their skirts up, pants down challenging me to a pissing match BB

Saw "The Wall" as well and to date its still the best concert or should I say event I've ever seen . It was brilliant and assaulted all the senses. I know this concert will be tamer but I'm sure he will still blow our minds. If only he and Gilmour could put aside their differences. I also had the pleasure of seeing Leonard at the Rock, and I'm so glad I did in light of his passing. We had such good seats we could almost see his nose hairs. And Hanging Rock is the most wonderful venue ever

Was soooooo looking forward to their upcoming world tour, well up until Chester Bennington, their lead singer, took his own life last July. How sad am I. My first was AC/DC in 2010 and I was 36. ( I don’t count pub bands) Subiaco Oval. As I wasn’t great with large crowds we got there early to stand up front. Ended up on the fence at the stage. Stone deaf for two days but wouldn’t change it for the world. If I were to count pub bands I saw Johnny Diesel at the Raffles in Perth warming up while we had our Year 7 Formal Luncheon. They played off and on for bout an hour and a half, came over to greet us all and were really Cool Cats 😁 - Posted from rhpmobile

We were stuck in a traffic jam driving into the entrance of the concert, right beside us in his car was John Stamos, we idled in the one spot for about 5 minutes, enjoying the view.
