Funny thing happened at the office

July 22 2014

A lighthearted moment at work I am currently working interstate for the week and at a client site in a small city outside Sydney. As we have been buried with work and are underpressure to get lots done in such a short time space, we have requested that we get some assistance from the company with regards to food, drinks etc (basically a go-to person) so we can focus on our work. Now they have this lovely work experience kid who basically is struggling to get busy and has been assigned the grottiest job in the office, - change ink cartridges in the printers and photocopiers, look for left-handed staplers, refill photocopiers, distribute letters, etc. So we thought we'd get him to do some proper work for us that will challenge him - Info gathering and database mining. Mind you, he still has to do the coffee runs and pick up our lunches. But he was very good natured about it and was grateful to be relieved of mind numbing humiliating menial tasks he was assigned previously. So today, I was busy and politely asked him if he can go to the canteen and grab me a strong latte as I was struggling to focus on my work and getting the 3o'clock caffeine blues. Off he scooted enthusiastically . He reminded me of my teenage son. 15 minutes later, he came knocking on my door and I was so glad to see him and expecting a piping hot cup of coffee in his hands.. Yo. Nada. He told me that the coffee machine broke down and he had to get the closest thing for the caffeine boost. he then happily handed me a 600 ml of 'VANILLA COKE' and walked off proudly like a cat who has just handed his master a mice offering he just hunted. I looked stumped at the offering, then back at him and back to the bottle. but thanked him just the same for his kindness. he did what he thought was best. Points for trying. But Vanilla Coke? WTF. What is this? High school? I'm a professional and can't work under these amateur conditions!!! Lol. Who drinks this stuff anyway! But hey, you get what you pay for.... All in a good day's work.. Lol. Now tell me something funny that has happened at your workplace....

First up this morning, a guy comes in mid to late 20's at a guess and he has been in before so I had a bit of a cringe when he walked in. Nice guy but chews my ear off about menial crap. I sort of feel for these type of guys too as they are obviously lonely and nobody listens to them so they are up for a chat. He is deaf so pretty hard to understand to begin with, he also has a mouth full of rotten teeth and he just told me this morning that he just had one ripped out. This guy has almost everything working against him as he tells me that he gets no attention from women and I really had no answers for him which is very unlike me. Visually he is short, very small build, skin issues, rotten teeth and then he is hard to understand and no dress sense (hat, trakkie daks, dirty runners, big jacket, all grey). Anyway, he is checking out the porn and mumbling away then he asked if I was married, oh no, he is going to hit on me! Fortunately it is early morning and not as sharp at responding yet so I managed to say yes, I am married before the truth fell out of my mouth. Phew, dodged a bullet!

... like, about three hours ago, when I got a parking ticket. No wait. That wasn't funny.

My boss and I were having a DE-brief after our workshop presentation yesterday at the local coffee shop. It was a crazy day- one person in particular did out heads, that we both went home feeling as tho we were so hung over and completely drained of all energy. *No drinking involved what so ever! If you are an introvert you will know what I am talking about.* I placed my order..."a double Vodka,Valium Cappuccino in a large cup, please".. When I said that, my boss looked at me and said, "I'll have what she's having, but can you make mine a triple flat white, please." A funny moment for the both of us. :) Foxy

I was working in a managing and consulting position with a large company. My role was to talk to potential clients and arouse their interest. We had a staff of about 20 mainly female. One day, a consultation was pre arranged for a woman to come in and see me. I had no idea who she was and showed the girl into my office.. After about 5 min's of explaining the product , she started to unbutton the first couple of buttons of her top and separated knees' Ala Sharon Stone style. I realised all wasn't right., but kept going anyway. Then she leant down, turned on some music and started dancing. This was the sign the girls were waiting on . The door flew open yelling the big happy birthday and piled in. My office went from serious to party mood in about 30 seconds..lol.. They got me big time, and yes , the stripper kept on doing her thing.. Funny and a good memory..lol

As a relatively nauve 21 year old In my first few weeks as a personal loan officer for a major bank I had a sexy european looking woman about 40 years old come in who obviously looked like she had access to some serious money....dripping in gold, hair and make up perfect, designer blouse unbuttoned to reveal a hint of cleavage, tight fitting skirt and heels and beautiful golden tan with a hint of mediterranean accent as she spoke.. Stunning. Throughout our discussion it became apparent that her marriage was in tatters and hubby had turned off the cash flow. She had no direct means of meeting any repayments so I began to explain that although I sympathised...there was not a lot I could do to help her. She then stood up and came and sat herself on my side if the desk to my right and began to unbutton her blouse saying she would be happy to do anything to assist to get the loan approved. I explained under normal cirumstances i would be happy to oblige but her circumstances were innapropriate for me to take advantage and at that stage I did not want to put my job at risk either. She then started to cry...I thought being my first weeks in the job I thought it might be a set up by my colleagues but later found out it was not much to their enjoyment. I went and made her a cup of tea and left her alone to compose herself in my office. After a half hour she left but gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek saying that was the most compassion she had been shown in 6 months. It was a battle of the two brains that day but I think the right one came through.
