Good Australian music

July 04 2013

Just purchased my tickets to see Jimmy Barnes in Tamworth in September. I love good Australian music - n even though Jimmy is aging, he brings me back to days of singing with my friends and using the hair brush or deodorant bottles as microphones, singing his classic songs as loud as we could in the car, dancing our arses off at the clubs/pubs. His song 'little darling' is extra special to me as it was out when mr cheeky n I met - brings back golden memories.... Do songs do that for you?

Great post.....I would have to say most of my playlist have memories attached....especially the 80's & 90's. The world was a different place....or was it just that I was in a different place in my life.   Music and rhythm find their way into the secret places of the soul - Plato

Sometimes the memories become so clear. I love seeing live music and love those nostalgia trips. I went to see Paul Kelly a while ago and it was like hearing the soundtrack to my youth. I'd love to see Barnsey. I remember the blue light disco used to always end with Flame Trees, I can't hear it without thinking of pashing a very cute boy when I was 15. So sweet.

They play all the great stuff from the 70's-80's. Yes certain music brings back memories Mrs Cheeky. And some of it is excellent as background music for a saucy night of fun, God Bless Chrissy Amphlet.

Aussie music is fantastic.Saw Jimmy play during StoneFest, he can bloody belt out a tune. Crowd went off.Choir boys were also there and caught the last few songs, Boys will be boys and Run to paradise. from memory. Bloody brilliant. wished I saw the whole set.We have so much talent in this country, it's a shame that more of it is not played on commercial radio. Check out JJJ Unearthed to see what is out there. Also for a great night out, I like the Cat Empire. Really brilliant night out. Seen them a few times and the crowd always go off. Bring it on, we need more of it on the air waves

Paradise by the dashboard lights, meatloaf. I was a 16 year old virgin at Trial Bay end of year camp, spent 3 nights sharing sleeping bags with 3 different boys and I was still a virgin at the end of the camp! Sweet innocent times :-)- Posted from rhpmobile

Nice Topic Cheekys ;) So many Songs and pieces of Music trigger memories for me . Music is an integral part of my Life. I was a DJ in Sydney for quite a long time and then continued when I moved to Byron Bay . My Life had a continuous SoundTrack . Everybody I associated with was into Music too . That's why so many of my memories are tied in with Music . It's an International language. Everybody dances to the Beat of a Drum & Life is a Dance . GG♒- Posted from rhpmobile

Often use music to express what I cant otherwise find the words to say.   Hear a certain song and its like yesterday!!   Bankstown Rollerskating>>> Speedskating and derby with Ant music and back in black blasting   Noiseworks at Revesby Roundhouse!!

Yes I'm big fan of Kelly, The Angels, Jon English, The Easybeats, The Masters Apprentice's, Slim, Noiseworks, Choirboys to name a few and probably some bands mentioned above that don't ring a bell but I'd know their music. And they are just my demographic, let alone those that followed. You'll have a blast Cheeky

But what ticks me off alittle is the music reality shows they have on tele like 'the voice, X factor etc,' n the judges are from overseas - well the majority are! Why not have Australian judges! That's my rant x

to me there is nothing better but also nothing worse in some cases. give me the cruel sea, paul kelly, jeff lang and in thier day chisel, aussie crawl, powderfinger, the church, angels etc. it pains me as to what we have as "leading acts" these days. thanks to the demise of pubs and clubs being allowed and able to afford the insurance, bands and solos have very limited opportunities to strut thier stuff to hone thier sounds and stlye. ok so my taste in music is dated, my choice like everyone else. - Posted from rhpmobile
