Wish you luck in the Year of the Dog 🐕🐕狗年大吉gǒu nián dàjí Fu God of Happiness and Good Luck The Fu star is generally depicted in scholar's dress, holding a scroll. God of prosperity The Lu star is usually depicted in the dress of a mandarin. Shou God of Longevity Shou Star is usually seen holding the Peach of Immortality, and carrying a peach wood staff. Fu Xing is a star that the ancient Chinese thought was in charge of agriculture in China. Today, Fu Xing is generally shown as a court official with a characteristically "winged" hat, and often with a scepter in his hand The Lu star is believed to be Zhang Xian who lived during the Later Shu dynasty. The word "lu" specifically refers to the salary of a government official. As such, the Lu star is the star of prosperity, rank, and influence This character Shou represents 'long life'. According to Chinese folklore, Longevity is described as wise, knowledgeable and capable of ruling the world. During festivals, a Chinese family normally worships the symbols or pictures of Longevity to express gratitude for granting the elders in the family a long life. This Shou statue will bring you a 'long and fruitful life'.

For making such an informative thread/post 👍🏼 In less than two hours, the year of the Rooster will be flying home to where it belongs and resting until its turn of shift again, and the year of the Dog will begin accordingly. I wish those who celebrate Lunar New Year a Happy New Year, may the mighty Dog Guardian bring you an abundance of great health, love, happiness, properosity, and success while in its guardian duty. 新年快乐 Happy New Year 恭禧发财 wishing for great properosity - Posted from rhpmobile

The Chinese say 新年快乐 恭喜发财 as the wishing statement 😊 like what wotzizname has written 😊 福禄寿 is only used to name the three status, and/or to describe elderly people who have been living a long life. These three characters are never used for wishing someone good luck or happy new year 😊 PS. Hope I don’t sound rude here 😜 - Posted from rhpmobile

...are often for characters. Gong Xi Fa Via Wan Shi Ru Yi Bu By Gao Sheng Nian Nian You Yu Xing Xiang Shi Cheng Etc. etc. 😉 Auspicious-sounding dishes are also enjoyed to usher in the New Year. 😃 We used to have big feasts when the grandparents and mum were around.

I spent the 90's working at the casino and Chinese New Year was always a big deal. Those words were on the outside wall in giant lettering, inside we just used to say Happy New Year. Happy New Year RHP.

If this is your birth year, remember red underwear to protect yourself against ill effects :-) Also, admit the birth year and we'll know whether you are 13, 26, 39, 52, 65 years old. - Posted from rhpmobile

I was born in the year of the dog, my name means dog or dogged, and my nickname is a dogs name... With any luck it'll be a good year. The supporting evidence says otherwise, but fingers crossed... I dont think i own any red underwear..

Red socks will suffice. Yesterday, my friends and I had a CNY feast and we discussed how The Year of the Dog was going to be great for two of them, and bad for Dog, Rat and Rooster people. One friend had a colleague who wore red socks to work for an entire year because that was his horoscope year and he had to wear red to fend off any bad luck! 😁 So... it doesn't have to be red underwear. 😛

Eh... we eat elaborate, good stuff to celebrate CNY. Doubt you'd find any of us eating chow mein with BBQ pork to celebrate. 😛
