Holiday destinations

July 25 2011

It's our 30th wedding anniversary soon and we want to celebrate it in a special way. We are looking for holiday destinations either in Australia or overseas and being relatively inexperienced with regard to travel, was hoping the forum readers could present some suggestions. We are on a budget so with that in mind, if you have been somewhere you thought was fantastic or have heard of similar, we'd really appreciate your input.

Why not try The Whitsundays. I hear its beautiful for tourists, but I guess even Hell has a trendy end.

I hear it's a little like Venice, with canals and stuff, and you can catch a train there.

You can try Bali or Thailand and even Vietnam, many Australians visit all of these places (including us) and none of them should break the bank, depending of course on the standard of hotel you stay on and what class airfare you use. Bothtogether6

Hey Guys We just did the 50th birthday and 30 plus years together and first holiday without kids. We did South Isaland NZ....See the damage of CHCH city. Then inland ...lakes and mountains nothing like here. NZ fish, salt and fresh, bluff oysters, NZ crayfish from that area sells for $100.00 plus a kg. National parks Fiods .......cold ...world heritage 4-6 drives are a long way there And best of all if they charge you $500.00 its only really $300.00 poor buggers the $NZ is suffereing. Queenstown area is the tourist stuff....go as hi class as u want or budget..... great value we see it as you gou hot and beaches or you go cold, winderness and natural. We should do a house swap around Lake Wanaka ....majic place.

Hi Guys Congratulations on your 30 year anniversary. If you prefer not to go overseas the top end of Oz is supposed to be great, have heard great things about Darwin, Kakadu etc. As far as overseas goes, Vietnam is very popular and pretty cheap as well. NZ is great but a bit cold at the moment. Cheers and enjoy whateveryou decide!

Passionatepair hi and thank you for your well wishes xxYes, we did actually consider that part of the world - Kakadu and Litchfield look amazing places to visit. Lol, at this rate, and all the wonderful suggestions we have been offered - I think travel well may be an integral part of our new few years. Vietman I have heard good reports about as well. I think we are going to end up having to make a short list and throwing a dart from there . Thank you again for all the posters and terrific suggestions made.
