"I SWEAR...

May 20 2013

to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!"So, on the topic of swearing...Many swear words have made it into the dictionary and are now a part of our language. Brand names are often twisted versions of swear words as are car stickers. Cursing has become a part of society. I ask... Do you swear/curse?Are there different times, places, occasions etc when you might be more relaxed and let it loose or guard your tongue more carefully? (still talking swearing here :-P)What do you think of people who do/don't? Please try to respect differing opinions and don't make it personal everyone, I'd like to see this thread survive :-)Does spelling fuck as fukc or using ffs, dilligaf etc make it any the less swearing?I swear, like a trooper sometimes, depending on my mood, who I'm with and how they feel about it, think using different spellings/letters doesn't make it any the less swearing, and don't judge people for their use of language (most of the time). But I believe there is a time for respect, when I'm out shopping, associating with people who object to swearing, and around children for eg.I swear occasionally on here because I see it as an adult site, but still appreciate that some people don't like swearing, and have been known to adapt lmao to lmho. Depends on what I'm trying to say and the mood I'm in. There's more I'm sure...I'll be swearing & cursing if my formatting goes as awry as it usually does lately

She's an absolute stunner, however the moment she opens her mouth is a huge turn off! It's a turn -off cause every 2nd word is "F*ck this" or "F*ck that" and says the word "C*nt" quiet a fair bit - quite unprofessional, unladylike and comes across very aggressively. Such a shame because she is actually quite a nice person. She's actually been put on a Work Performance Plan because of her tone of swearing.FOXY

by friends that when I walk into a bar sailors come pouring out.... at least when it comes to swearing!! However I do guard my tongue at times such of as work, around young children, my grandparents and the parents of friends. But I do get pulled up by my own mother at times especially when I get angry with my brothers and start swearing like a trooper. But I am with cheeky on this and do not like the C word to be used in everyday conversation (or much at all). There are so many other swear words available to use so don't understand the need to resort to that.

With stock I swear constantly and use every word that comes to mind but when in more polite society, I tome it down. When I played competitive bridge, I spent a lot of time around elderly people..it's amazing the words and phrases they know.

I could shock a wharfie.   But I can be a real lady if the situation requires it.   I hate it coming from people without a vocabulary though, does that make me a snob?

Can help it as soon as in relaxed it just slips out, I have to make special effort to not swear, I think I spent too many years in racing stables! And no word is off limits, although I try to minimise the c word Although one exception is around kids, for some reason I'm really good at not swearing around them- Posted from rhpmobile

I swear far too much. As a teenager when I first came to Oz, I barely did. Alas, the Ozzie way got to me and I started to cuss. Now, because I spend most of my social time amongst men, all I do is swear when talking to them. I think I swear more than they do! As with other post comments though I do detest the c word.

But I do guard my tongue cautiously when I'm in the social and public environment, especially when I'm at work, around elderly and children. Yes I do care about social manners and self presentation because that's how I was brought up and because of my career. I don't mind if people swear or use swearing words in their conversation occasionally and appropriately, and as long as they aren't swearing at me, I just tune out, but if anyone use the F and C words on me, they better be prepared for tasting their own fruit! Oh yes indeedy I swear. Loudly, often and with great effect. 25 years in the shearing shed and follow up years with troubled teens I have a wide range of profanity. I do know when NOT to swear though and have no difficulty in curbing my tongue if the need arises. Funnily enough, I am not a great drinker but have noticed that the drunker I get, the more correct my speech becomes and it is then that the educated me steps up with big words.
