If you could live anywhere

April 24 2015

Where would you like to live?..is it somewhere that you have already been...or is it somewhere you have always wanted too,if you had the chance?

Im happy where I live but would really love to have a teleport to my favourite rock climbing destinations. Would be great to go there whenever I wanted after work or on a weekend and not have to drive for a day straight or hop on a plane overseas - Posted from rhpmobile

And pretty much settled where I want to be. The weather, the beaches, the opportunities, the good life. :) - Posted from rhpmobile

I have travelled a lot and nothing comes close to Sydney. There are more exciting cities, there are more cultured cities, there are more romantic cities, there are more historic cities.........but there is not one that comes close to the all around lifestyle and opportunities that Sydney offers.

I already split time between two of my favourite places here on our lonely planet, but wish someone would hurry up and invent the warp drive, so I could spend the rest of my days boldly going where no one has gone before.

For me it'd be southern France, Italy or eastern europe where life seems a bit more free-er.

in the Mediterranean and claim back lost family lands. Start a cruise charter business sailing around the islands during the European summer. Off season come back to WA for our summer stopping off at various places of interest along the way back. My neighbours do something similar except they live in Italy most of the year and come to Perth and Monkey Mia for 2 months where they go sailing on their yacht during our summer. LG

its pretty hard to chose 1 place for the rest of one's life - I am not sure I am comfortable with that concept..I find that 10-15years in one country is "enough" for me :)Next I might go to Canada or New Zealand - basicly anywhere where nature is on your doorstep, the population nr is less, there is electricity , internet and modern medicine is good enough for me :) As long as English is spoken I will be happy as rain..if English is not spoken then I have 2 more languages to try and survive with but prefer English :)

Stupid expensive to live there, catching the tube in the dark of the morning with 50 million other people then getting home to your stupidly expensive accommodation also in the dark. But then when you least expect it you chance apon something walking along the Thames or park or somewhere thats really cool or hundreds of years old and you think, yeah couldn't have this back at home.

Exactly where I am...... We have created the perfect oasis for our family to grow and learn ..... It's peaceful, natural and pollution free..... Grass always looks greener on the other side , til you get there, then you pine for what you already had.....

If I could, I would pack up my earthly possessions in a backpack and just wander off. Anywhere. Maybe one day I will. The first place I'd go? Back to Florence. I have unfinished business.

I feel the same about the UK in general, nice for a holiday - but living there is such a different experience. I haven't found anywhere I like quite as much as Sydney - there are places I like aspects of, but they're just "not quite right". The closest has been Canada or New Zealand. If I was stupidly rich and could have homes in many places, then it would be different and I could happily spend a month or two in lots of places.

and I agree.. it would be either Florence or Venice for me. I would also love a holiday shack on a beach somewhere up the Sapphire coast here in Aus.. I don't really care where as long as the surf roars and the beaches are pretty empty.

After reading all of the replies and being a travel agent for many years and travelling all over this awesome world and I have been too some amazing places that I would love to go back to. I actually love right where I am! Close to the beach, close to the mountains so I get the best of everything. I am so very boring, but easy to please :)

If I picked my favourite cities, and joined dots between them, I'd end up somewhere in rural France - I think I could manage that ok.

My birthplace is Scotland, which is absulutely beautiful, but too cold. I love the Greek Islands, would quite easily live in any of them. London is also my favourite city, but again, far too cold. Totally spoiled now with Perths climate and lifestyle......

I agree about London. I will always have a soft spoke for London and almost feel like it's a second home but Winter is a killer. After not seeing the sun for 6 mths funny things happen to you! Funlover, just had friends who went to Istanbul and raved about it. It has been so long since I have been there I don't remember that much about it. Shite.... I think I need to start revisiting places! I love the beach and like to visit the country but I would always choose to live in a city. I would like to live in Edinburgh for awhile but I know I wouldn't be able to handle the cold for ever. Otherwise three cities I felt instantly at home in and they are Lisbon, Barcelona or San Francisco. :)

I grew up living next to the ocean and could never be too far from it for too long. Probably one of the reasons why I loved those cities I mentioned above and why I love Sydney. We certainly have the most amazing coast line around Australia.
