Ladies of RHP: Your thoughts on American Guys?

October 22 2009

sex

First off, I would like to start by saying I am pretty impressed with the site, and the RHP community at large. Seems like a lot of good people being successful at what the site was intended for: communicating, connecting, and having fun.My question for the ladies is this: What are your feelings about American men and why do you feel this way? Personality wise, attraction levels, sex wise, it's all on the table. Do you have any opinion whatsoever? Before I get flamed for asking a stupid question, please allow me to explain the reason behind it.Several months ago as it was becoming apparent that I was going to be moving to Australia, a friend was describing his recent Aussie business trip to me. "You have no idea" he said. "It is absolutely unbelievable". Bill goes on to describe to me how he and a coworker were having a brew in a local 'Hotel', and when a group of ladies in the joint overheard them talking, it became obvious that they were not from Oz. Immediately the guys got invited to sit with the group of ladies, and as the night wore on, they were seriously vying for Bill and his coworker's attention...big time. One lady stood up at one point and announced to Bill 'I'm going home to go to sleep...are you coming?'. Bill declined, but it really got him wondering if it all was a fluke. The next night a similar pattern unfolded. Bill got to chatting with one of the women he had met that next night, and he was told that Australian women really find American guys sexy. The accent, the attitude, kind of the whole package. Before I left, with a wink Bill told me to be careful as he was convinced I could be getting into a whole mess of trouble. Fast forward to today, and I find that I am not experiencing the same level of enthusiasm from the opposite sex here in Australia as was described to me. Don't get me wrong. I have met a couple of very lovely ladies and had a few great dates, but my experiences have been no where near the extent that Bill had described and had anticipated for me. Up until now I had never had reason to doubt my friend. He has always been a straight shooter with me.I've gone through the obvious things...Bill is tall, I am tall. Bill is moderately attractive, I am as well (at least that is what I have been telling myself all these years). Bill is slightly younger than me, but not enough to make it an issue. We are both built actually quite similar as well. We both have game (we used to go out occasionally playing each others wing man). So, I thought I would throw it up to the lovely ladies of RHP as I figured it might make for some fun reading. I look forward to your comments, and thanks for reading.Oh, and gaz, if you would like to comment, I look forward to reading it as well. 8-D

i don't really have an opinion, i don't actively pursue anyone just because they're from a certain country. and it seems kind of foolish to me to paint everyone of a nation with certain qualities when reality everyone is different regardless of where they come from.   i think your friend just got lucky.

All elephants are pink I have an elephant Is it pink?   Sometimes logic is kept. Most of the time it is defied.   Your mates may have embellished a little. But holidays do that.

Yeah I think your friend just got lucky.  I don't have any more attraction to foreigners than I do for Aussie guys.SF

I've been travelling to the USA (different place most of the time) around 3 times a year for the past 6 or 7 years. I was told the same thing about Aussies in America... but never seen the same level of action as the people who report it happens to them... I think it's all a myth :-( either that or I'm just not their type.   Anyway - welcome to Australia mate - the ladies here are as fine as you'll see anywhere in the world and are really not that much different in terms of what they like and don't like.

Personally, I adore American men. Major part of it is the accent, I just find it sexy for some reason. But its also the general attitude they seem to have. Its not arrogance as a lot of ppl would probably consider it, but a self-assurance that some Australian men seem to lack. Can't quite put my finger on it but they do it for me lol Cheers, Elljae x

It's difficult to make any generalisations. I mean, nobody is seriously going to chase a guy around just on the basis of his country of origin, you know? Maybe your friend was in the right place at the right time. As for do I like American men.. well there was this one guy I met... he was very tall, very dark, very impressive and very gentle. that's all I'm going to say about it!   Hugs Gaz

I don't seek out people or partners for this reason alone, it is more about who they are as a person not where they come from.

its the same wherever you go (well, sort of), the guys with the accents have a bit of an easier time picking up. Thankfully all my tournament trips are overseas :)If you're a Canadian in Canada - you're just another guy, unlike the Aussie bloke next to you getting all the puckbunnies his way (woohoo to that)If you're the Aussie in Australia, big deal, you're the same as everyone else - except that Candian guy with what all the girls have decided is a hot accent.(repeat same story but insert different nationalities e.g. Irish, French, etc)

I actively disliked American men...till I met one who knows how to push all the right buttons... I've never been so happy to be wrong in my whole life :P   In general though I agree with Sydneyboy... the exotic always gets a bit of extra attention....

Syd boy we too agree (isn't it nice we all get along)   Having been the "very average" looking Aussie in America...... It strangely does bring attention to one's goodself ! NICE!!!!   HOWEVER!!!!   What does this say if Martians invade earth?????  Does that mean us poor human men will never get laid again!!!   Oh dear I'm off to Italy to see if Mrs looking and I can grab ourselves a stunning Italian over there, before the Martians arrive!   (Did I take this toooooooo seriously, be up front be Frank!)

Hi Mate....Welcome to Aus  !........No offence, But could your friend have been making his story a little bit better than what it actually was ?......Because I know you American Guys are like we Ausies, And like to make some stories a little more interesting from time to time lol........Australia and especially Sydney is so multi cultural these days, that an accent doesn't realy give you much of head start anymore.   Hope You Have fun here....Tam.

looking2try3: was in Milan recently - and it seems the look for guys attracting attractive ladies over there was pastel shirts tucked in, and baby pink or purple jumper tied around the neck.

Hi Everyone,Thank you all for your replies, it is fun to get others perspective.Tam, Are you saying we might embellish on the truth a wee bit to make for a better story??? OK, you got me there.  Thanks for the welcome. Very much appreciated. NiceGuy, you too. Thank you very much.Gaz, you won't share your story for us? Why so tight-lipped (mmmmm...tight lips) now?Now Rock_n_Rolla...as opposed to finding out what color it is, I reeeallly want to know where in the hell you keep the damn thing. All kidding aside, I know what you are saying.L2T3, all in good fun for sure. Let's hope the martians don't land. If so, I think we would be having a bit more to worry about than getting laid.SydneyBoy...agreed. Being the "different" one in the room (and not in a bad way) can have it's advantages...sometimes. Nice pic BTW. Work out much?Sweetpetite...did I mention I play the bagpipes??? (Hmmm, talk about embellishment...can you say lie?). OK, not really...but would a harmonica and a pair of really tight boxers work for ya? if so, I'm on the next plane North...or is that South? Sheesh, I hate that I failed Geography in school. Casava, Sarah, Elle, Freo...you must not have met the right one...yet (he said while wondering how far it is or even where Perth, Atwell, or Melborne, or Glenbrook are for that matter). But Sophie and Elljae know what I'm talking about. We Americans are all about pushing buttons. And if we get lucky and happen to press the right one now and then, all the better. My suspicions are that there are several factors at play. Phase of the moon (luck?), probably. A stretch of the truth a bit...maybe. Stranger in a strange land syndrome...definitely some. Wingman?...I do not have one here...may have something to do with it as well. Then there is the one I hate to admit but is probably true... maybe a little more having to do with Bill likely being a bit more charismatic than me.In any case, all good responses, and good fun to boot. Thanks again for playing. And if anyone finds themselves on the beach in Manly, look a brother up, will ya?one CrazyAmerican Yes I AM ... out of my mind.
