Mardi Gras Weekend

February 21 2011

Hey there Guys and Gals,We are heading to Sydney for the Mardi Gras weekend because it looks like such a blast. After watching the parade we were thinking of going to the official Mardi Gras party. We were hoping you good people could help us with a few questions.1) Anyone know a great spot to watch the parade?2) Would a respectful male/female couple be out of place at the after party?3) Is it more than a dance party?4) Anyone like to meet up meet up for a drink, watch the parade and then go to the party?5) Any other thoughts for Mardi Gras virgins? We really appreciate your input?Kind regardsBronzandPenxxxoo

ok...1) There are always a zillion people lining the streets and from every vantage point... and you will need a milk crate at the very least, plus arrive early. It is a very popular event as you can imagine. The best vantage points are on board a float. The party starts traditionally with fair day.... as for the Mardi Gras party... I keep threatening to go but I've never been to one.... and this is just my opinion.... that it's not appropriate that straight couples attend but you wouldn't be the first to do it. Wear something flamboyant. :pHugsStalky

...you can't just rock up to the official after party. You need to buy a ticket through a friend who is a "member of the team" so to speak. Am I right? Haven't been in a long while!

to the party but you do need to buy your tickets, you can get them from Ticketek. It's a big gay dance party, this means there will be lots of trashed people around, so be nice and smile and people will definitely talk/dance with you. If you're going for the shows and to dance, you'll have a wonderful time. Do dress up/down for the occassion. There's no such thing as too many sequins or too much glitter. Recommendation, wear shoes you're comfortable dancing in all night as there are pretty much no taxis later on.Being a licensed premises standard NSW licensing laws apply: i.e. no bits on show, no penetration.
