Music to get you in the mood.

November 18 2013

What music so you listen to prior to a meet, or during, that gets you in the mood? Right now, Tim Buckley's album Greetings from L.A. is firing me up. Raunchy, top heavy, bold. Top scores from me. I would love to hear what gets your hips swinging.

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble at the moment. Marc Ribot's Los Cubanos Postizos album is another one.Otherwise I stick with the ol' reliables; Miles Davis, Billie Holliday, Lester Young, Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon ...

Quoting 'Mesmerised' Massive Attack and Lana del Rey. Listening to Mezzanine as I write this For me Radiohead, Josh Pyke, Presets could be anything depending on what sort of mood I am in Speaking of which ... Is it just me ?? but what I might be listening to, say driving to there, depends usually on what I might be anticipating and looking forward to between vanilla v kinkier. Vanilla might be lighter and softer while kinky might be darkier, moodier or heavier.

Stones, Depeche Mode, PJ Harvey, killers, nirvanah, Paul Kelly. Lately locals; the band who knew too much. They're so much fun. Sinner, I was introduced to HBA recently, they're ace, in the same vein I like the Feeling Groovies too.

Anything and everything... usually 70's and 80's rock. Sometimes 90's and 00's stuff. All depends on how the day has been and who I would be seeing... if it is a pub/club meet then something upbeat (maybe even heavy) to get the pulse going... if a diner or social group gathering then something more passive, relaxing and melodic (get that Zen on).SG

Massive Attack & Portisehead! Perfect! Thank you both for the reminder. Freya, I could do Bolero, but I think I've seen it used in too many insect mating ritual docos. Would hate to start pulling some weird dance moves on my partner unconsciously. - Posted from rhpmobile
