I was originally going to laugh but though... Hang on not a stupid idea, dangerous for the bank balance but good idea. I want to go to Cuba before the Amercians get there and destroy it for the rest of the World!

I would wind up getting myself in all sorts of trouble, I'd have to have a chaperone, ideally my son. Monaco, Venice, Africa, Russia.....tons of places I'd love to go

I'd love to visit Japan and India, also would to walk among sequoias, see a volcano and visit New York. My favourite cities would be Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Edinburgh, but also the south of France is pretty special. I travelled through Europe for 2 months on my own; though rarely was alone, meeting up with fellow travellers on the way. I was in Paris on my own - and found that really hard. So I should put Paris on the list again, but to do it with someone else. I think SE Asia would be pretty easy on your own. Group tours are always an option Happy travels!

Of my travel has been alone. It has lots of advantages and of course disadvantages,I have indeed been very fortunate and have travelled to most of the places I wanted to go to. Now I am content to just stay put, enjoy your adventures Red, xxFreya

When travelling alone,I always stayed in accommodation that was at the upper limit of what I could afford. Cheap accommodation may well put your safety at risk. x xFreya

I've done a little bit of travel in my time, some of it on my own (which was great!), but there are so many more places I would love to go to. My ultimate dream is to have enough money to just travel the world! But until then, one step at a time. I am going on my first ever cruise at Easter which I am really looking forward to. Then off to Cairns in May. Europe, USA and Canada are on the wish list. I'll get there again one day!

It depends on how long you are going for, and what you want ie; a relaxing holiday, adventure or being a tourist. Do you want beaches, mountains, clubs/bars, monuments/churches, do you like big cities or villages. Time of year is also important for costs, destination and weather. Something else to consider is europe charges a single person supplement for rooms, Asia does not. As for travelling alone it depends on where you are going. Asia for a single female is safe, Europe is not. In Asia when you are on your own I would recommend sharing private taxi's for long trips as they are cheap and quick. We went from Phnom Phenh to Siem Reap for 60us, the ride was around 5 hrs. I have 25 yrs of backpacking experience and almost all crime I heard about was "white on white", other backpackers ripping off other backpackers.

Always wanted to get to USA hire or buy an old convertible and blast off across the country. That would be a whole lot of fun. Go meet honey boo boo 😁 yes I did watch TV once and this was my preferred viewing ☺ Explains the divorce 😁😁

I love travelling in my own- but good accommodation and being in the right parts of cities are really important for safety. I want to travel along coast of Spain in a car. I am taking the Kiddies to Sea World (Gold Coast) this year- they are pretty excited!🎉❤️🐠 Best regards, Betty

Seen a bit of Aus. and only OS twice to Russia for two one month stints. Always by myself fortunate and unfortunate but I tend to leave the beaten paths and let my feet guide me and intuition keep me safe. Wouldn't have had half the pleasures and experiences if I had not stepped out of comfort zones. The one thing I would love to do is trek the base of the Himalayas and live among the villages on my way. I recently watched 'The Mekong river with Sue Perkins' on SBS and to travel the Mekong to get to the first destination would be awesome.

Would be re-visiting some walking and rock climbing destinations - USA California, Tasmania and NZ. Though in saying that would love to trek in Himalayas in both Nepal and Pakistan. I love travelling alone as much as I do traveling with a companion. I think people think it's hard for people to travel alone but sometimes all that is needed is a bit of gumption to get out there and commit to going alone.

The urge for adventure really bit me last year. I've long had it and explored Australia a bit by road and dirt...but I wanted to see somewhere REALLY different. And as a man who's grown and lived in the warmth...that meant going somewhere cold and suitably bleak. Iceland ticked those boxes. It was the whole deal...not just the sights, smells and tastes...but living the part for real. Who doesn't fantasise about being an arctic explorer...? A few months later I visited Laos on a whim, and I'm so glad I did. Travelling alone again, with few preconceptions about south east Asia, I made friends amongst the locals I met. It woke me up to the importance I place on material things...and confirmed for me that, when beer and food are in abundance, people are the same wherever you go...and Sunday Sessions mean the same thing as at home.I doubt my experiences would have been so immersive had I travelled with another. This year? Back to Laos, I think. It's more economical than the arctic from this part of the world. But the snowy forests of Sweden and Norway are really calling to me too...

I have been lucky in so far that I have visited 74 countries on our most wonderful planet and mostly by myself. I am off to Sth Africa for the 11th time in March, and I'm so not looking forward to it. The place has changed so much since I first visited there 30 years ago, its just not a nice place to visit any more. I should clarify it is the big cities I am talking about, not the countryside. The only place I want to go and haven't is the North Pole, to go ice diving, one day I'll get there.

Not a problem, done it loads. Its also nice to travel with a suitable companion (friend or otherwise) but makes for a very different experience. I think you're open to meeting other people more when you're on your own - more approachable perhaps? My next trip? Somewhere in Europe in July to escape the cold Melbourne winter!!!

I've travelled a bit, mainly with my ex or friends. I travelled to Vietnam on my own, was a little nervous sitting at the airport but had the best holiday. Have no issue with going solo again. I'm hoping for Japan next year, have Hawaii this year with friends. - Posted from rhpmobile

If I'm going to do Oz, Kimberly up north.! Not sure if you've seen tourism industry videos- see 7, 8, 9 of them for best ideas..... But get there before the mining giants get the grants & licences to pull up all the 'rare earth metals' lying dormant. It's pretty impressive & there's NO place like it on earth. 👍

In the early 90s I lived amongst the Sequoia in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I was managing a Buddhist retreat centre. It was an amazing, environment. Wild deer.and the occasional visit from a mountain lion ...the forest had been logged in the 20s but had completely regenerated. Many different groups came there including the Love Tantra group which rather shocked some of the resident monks and nuns😜xxFreya

to travel when I lived in Scotland. It was cheap and accessible to go to Spain, Holland, France, the Greek Islands and Ibiza. I miss that. Ive been on a Caribbean Cruise, that was an experience. Now I have 3 places on my to go to list......Rio de Janeiro, Santorini and back to Spain to visit one of my besties. My home country is one of the most beautiful scenery wise, but we dont get the weather to appreciate it. Awesome mountains and glens and long golden beaches shrouded in mist...

So many places I want to go, both here in Aus and overseas. Wouldn't have a problem travelling alone but would do my research first re safety aspects depending on where I was headed. Europe is top of my list. Would love to go to my dad's home country and meet the relatives I have there, particularly my half sister and her family.

I have a long list of places in Australia and OS, but if I had to pick one OS destination it would be Iceland. My son has a pen pal there and some of the images we have seen and info we have read make it more and more appealing. Man it was hard to pick one! MrsC :)

I work a permanent rotating 7 night nightshift which means that I accumulate 3 months annual leave a year. I'm so lucky as this allows me to travel extensively and I have. Last year I ticked off my bucket list a long held dream to go on safari to South Africa, Kenya and Zanzibar and it was enthralling. The year before that I holidayed on and off on the Greek islands for 3 months, while sailing around the Mediterranean, where I also visited Turkey and Cyprus OP I love your opening post and your idea. I've been to China. Its interesting and a eye opener but of course China has no doubt changed a lot and opened up more to the West since I was there back in 2008 just before the Olympics. Beijing is a fascinating city but I preferred Shanghai. I've done most of Europe and the UK and a great deal of the Americas including Canada and Alaska but my new bucket list for this year is South America. My friend visited Cuba last year and raved about it, so Cuba through to Argentina is on the board. Id also love to visit Vietnam, of which I've heard great things. I've seen so much of Asia but have failed to get there and also to Japan. Other places I would love to get to is the Nordic countries and to Iceland. Again I've heard rave reviews but I believe these places to be very expensive. I prefer travelling alone cause you're not alone for long and its the best way to meet people. Last year though, my safari was gonna cost a pretty penny. I whinged about this and my brother said he'd come with me to half the costs, so we went together. We had a ball and it was kind nice hanging out with my brother. We got on pretty well together and it was great to see him more as a person, a real human being and not the dickhead I always thought he was. Found out he is kinda of a great guy. We are definitely closer for the shared experience.

I would love up visit the little fishing village where my Nonno was born, in Sicily but I also have a very strong spiritual pull to the Moors of Scotland. I think there are just too many places to choose from. I would love to just work and travel around the world for the rest of my life. - Posted from rhpmobile
