NO not Pussy...CATS.

March 19 2018

So the felines have been getting a bit of a mention here of late. I thought we could talk about them here, and I do mean talk about them not abuse each other for loving them, hating them or just tolerating them. On the farm in NZ we like nearly every other farm household had at least one cat, to keep the mice down. I was a sucker for the Tabby cats and had more than a few. We got a cat when we came to Aussie but soon realised that hings were different here and when it disappeared we accepted that and didn't get another on for quite some time. Our last cat was because our son wanted a pet and we weren't able to get a dog so we went to Cat Haven and got a rescue cat. Oh boy did we get a cat, he was big black and beautiful so this cat lover turned cat hater was a born again cat lover. He was a big character and a real cat (bastard) we did the right thing and kept him inside every night. Sadly he got run over after a couple of years. We won't be getting another because he's too much of a hard act to follow. Now we have recently got a rescue dog. There's no two ways about feral cats are a big environmental problem. One reason for this they do not need to drink water because they can get all their moisture from their prey. So what do you think about the cute little domestic moggy which is really nothing but a furry psycopath?

Well for six years I had Caesar a large ginger tom (cut) all animals should be desexed. I was going through a not so good time mentally and my mum decided I needed company as it had been a couple of years since my last moggie passed. Went to the shelter and as I was playing with the kittens he stretched out in his bed so I gave him a scrub. When I pulled away he grabbed my finger and pulled me back. I did not intend on getting a male but asked the lass about them and she said generally they are more affectionate than females. Couldn't have been more correct with Caes. He was my soul mate and had a personality that seemed more a cross between a human and a dog, not so much cat. He followed me where ever I went or sat. I was building a farm house out Cohuna way and we would go for 1-2 km walks together. Miss the beggar everyday but love the two I have currently. There is a beautiful film out there called 'A Street Cat Named Bob' a similar story to what Caesar did for me and incredibly almost identical to him.

I've always had cats as pets growing up, when I moved out of home I left mine with mum as she had one as well and I couldn't split them up. One year at the ekka, I was at the whiskers show, and saw a 6mth old Maine coone... I was set to get one when I had my own place... So once settled in my own place I ordered a pure bred Maine coone... Such a beautiful cat, I also got a pet rescue Maine coone cross to keep him company. I ended up inheriting another cat as a mate couldn't have pets any more, but unfortunately he got really sick, after many trips to the vet and deteriating health, the poor kitty didn't make it... He was the most affectionate cat ever, would follow me everywhere and just wanted to be on my lap all the time... After loosing him, I ended up getting two more rescue kittens. A boy and a girl, this is the first girl cat I've had that's actually been a sook and not a princess.... All my cats are indoor only and all have been desexed.. I had to sign a contract for the Maine coone saying that I would never let him roam around as they get so big... But yes, boy/male cat are generally more affectionate and friendly than girls... Girls just tend to do things on their terms... - Posted from rhpmobile

Well all furry little things. My love of cats are that they are independent They won't sook if you need to go out, they'll find their own thing to do.Yes, they want cuddles when they want them, and if you try at any other time, they will probably bite your hand. Best part, is unlike a dog, if you move its food bowl around, the dog just goes there and eats.A cat will look at you and say "fuck no". This is where i eat, bring that shit overhere, NOW!

Bloody bit jealous mate. Would love a Maine coone super affectionate giants. Thought of getting one through a shelter but two rather small ones are enough for me with two dogs as well.

But always have in the past. Love them. My favourite was a Blue Russian cross. She was like a dog, so friendly and smart and followed us everywhere. Once my partner and I were in bed together and she wanted to come in. She jumped up and pushed the door handle down and opened it and sauntered in with a smug little look on her face. Such a clever kitty. She was a beauty. - Posted from rhpmobile

Yeah, the thing I loved when I saw them, was that they, A-look very much like a standard domestic cat (not oddly proportioned...) If you don't have something to reference their size they look. Like a nomal cat in a pic. B-They are so affectionate and cuddly, like a giant stuffed toy... Lol. - Posted from rhpmobile

We rescue and rehome abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens. We have a large backyard and an outdoor large cat enclosure. We currently have 10 cats with us (we are at maximum capacity). Each has their own personality and “cat-attuide”. They range from 18months to 18 years old. Personally I think they make better friends than humans do. They have never judged me, they seem to know when I need a a cuddle. Yes, they are all desexed, vaccinated, flea treated and wormed, all at our expense. I think desexing should be cheaper and free for pensioners. - Posted from rhpmobile

One cat I owned (later in life) was a blue Russian cross Siamese (called Piglet). I had him for 23yrs. He was a temperamental cranky cat but did have a loving nature. He would get jealous of any partners I had and head but his way between us. At dinner time he would high pitch meow and swipe at anyone who entered the kitchen. That was his demanding way of "fed me now". If I was sick he would always snuggle with me, laying close to my face and place his paw on it. Cats are weird as they know when you're not well. I must admit, I did spoil this cat and cried for over a week when I had to put him to sleep. What I like about cats and dogs is each one has their own unique personality. Ms Foxy

It seems swingers seem to have a healthy love of animals!! I hope that makes it through the sensorbots!! Both our pussys have gone to the great cat box in the sky, Toby who was 18, went just before Christmas. Now Mr. Banjo our 3 year old golden retriever gets sole fur child status and he’s at work with us right now!! It’s such a drag that RHP don’t allow your pets to be on your profile picture, as that might reduce the amount of dick pics, and most of those guys that have dick pics, might get more luck in the bedroom stakes!! And I used to foster for the animal welfare league. One of the coolest things I saw was when I was in China, I went to visit a Buddhist temple in the mountains and in the centre of the temple were 2 colossal, 4000 year old trees that were planted when the temple was founded. For some reason on the lower branches of the trees and in the surrounding shaded grass there were dozens upon dozens of cats just chilling out and doing catty things :) It was so awesome!

How many are kept within a closure of a night time ? when they become extremely efficient at honing their hunting instincts and launch from stealth to lightning fast short bursts zeroing in and striking to kill unsuspecting little furry native animals like Bilby, there's plenty of cats, there use to be a couple species of Bilby, one now, I saw an albino Bilby a while back, right where a cat use to hunt of a night, the cat never ate it's food, it would hide under the house as the magpies swooped in and had their fill, but they perch of a night. Most dogs are kept in now, so the cat's have only one thing to do and they do it very well. Mado Mado Tara xx

I've never had a cat attack me in the street! And cat fights have nothing on big dog vs lil dog attacks. We got our beastie from a fellow RHPer, it started as a baby sitting gig and escalated to the news the cat they had taken on a bare few weeks before didn't fit in with their cat. 5 years+ later... let me tell Mr Burmese X doesn't fit in with any other cat! I told a story on the Nothing thread about how he woofed down a small lizard in our back yard the other day (he only gets to visit under supervision), and next time, will be on a harness and lead. We don't have the money to build a shelter. The ending of the lizard story is that grandchild understands that the it will not be regenerating from the tail that managed to wiggle off as it went down head first. My old boy who I still miss all these years later was a Black Russian (one of the first from the original breeder of the Blacks and Whites) who grew to love me dearly as I gave him his daily meds because he had Feline Uterine Syndrome that finished in kidney failure which he survived till a rich old 17 years of age. He had a hip replacement very early on, poor bugger, so he was largely an indoor cat, partly for his own protection. I regret the timing for putting him out of his pain that I didn't get to say goodbye the way I would have liked. I had a young Siamese I was breeding in my early twenties who died the day she was due to deliver because she was run over. I used to think cats were easy going pets way back in my teens but I realise now the problems and damage that freedom can cause so it's the indoor life for any cats now. And most of the time for the dog now too because he's getting old as well. Peachy

I've always been very fond of cats. I find them very soothing to have around. About 10 years ago I was introduced to Bengal cats at a cat show in Perth. They are so awesome, like a cross between a dog and a cat. Very intelligent and talkative, extremely playful and I even take mine for walks on a harness..yes a grown man taking a cat for a walk. You saw it here first folks lol. I have a big secure run for him in the back garden so he can't get out. It shits me that people let their cats wander and harass mine when I spend so much time and money keeping him and the wildlife safe. I think its a shame cats get a bad name for just being cats when it's the owners fault for letting them out, especially at night. - Posted from rhpmobile
