Davies creek if you get away from people and or book two campsites together. Also homerule up near Cooktown again away from other campers. But if you are wanting a beach then you need to get a boat and find a beach with some grass behind or head bush or find a private property owner with some river frontage (obviously above falls and with clear water though)!

having had a look at your profile images it is obvious you want to get off the beaten track and in that case totally there is a lot of places. There are plenty of creeks and streams and wild country to explore plus some great walks. Unfortunately crocs and stingers play havoc with many places coastal but from now onwards the ocean is better than in summer. I know plenty of places to go though if you have time and even more if you have a 4wd. The two I mentioned are just particularly good and where a a few people can easily find a place in nature to do more than most campers might! ;)

... We would love to find a nice secluded, private spot, where we can be naked and enjoy one another, without unwelcome intruders

Yes there is definitely a redneck and ultra conservative side to Qld. The damn Pentecostal’s have their biggest concentration up here in Fnq and there are plenty of people that want to hark back to Joe BKP days. That said there are also a fair number of ardent nudists and alternative types too. There is space and there are great sights and out of the way places to get naked in so worth exploring when you are up here. And the negative side is uncannily like “deliverance” as there have been quite a few people who have “escaped to dem hills”, so worth being aware of! Crocs do make swimming in tidal rivers a definite health risk as is the sea near a river mouth too! Away from this and where the water is clear can be fine and I have swum in the sea a fair bit but ocean lap swimming is not as popular up here for good reason. Stinger make summer sea swimming a gamble where Neptune’s house has the better odds. And I know lots of awesome swimming and camping spots that are out of the way an secluded. And know lots of vanilla people who know even more so I can find out plenty of options. Maybe I’ve found a tourism niche that I can provide guiding services for?! ;)

My pleasure for the info and feel free to hit me up for more and or being a personal guide if and when you want. Even if this is totally on a social level as I am chilled and totally respect people’s interests desires and boundaries. Might flirt a bit at times but that is the name of the game too. I’ve done a fair bit of camping and had some awesome outdoor escapades and know some good less visited locations. Distances can be big so time and transport critical and the Buchans beach scene is very close to palm cove even if it can be a little seedy at times. And a certain full moon fling with a couple down there was a lot of fun! A big enough blanket to minimize sand is always handy but sand is still likely to find its way into places best left sand free!

Beautiful drive to the Daintree and visit Cow Bay. Easily done with a car with great Air BNB’s . Can do day trip easily and a large backpackers place is fun and has a higher grade of accomodation. The place called PK’s. There is no way I’d swim at Cow Bay though lol

As Nqsands says The drive up to Cape Tribulation is an easy beautiful drive along which there is some amazingly beautiful places to stop. There are many well know places and some less well know. I won’t list them here as there are too many and for some there are cultural and environmental reasons that they need to be protected. Others I would prefer to keep relatively unknown purely for this reason. And the locals like to find the remote places so I’ve been in a place thinking I was away from everyone to have another local turn up randomly and other times not but this is part of the thrill of our door fun is it not!? Cow bay is beautiful and worth visiting and at low tide you can walk away from the car park to find a spot that would be very secluded. but high tide might need managing and you would have to carry what you want with you. Salt water Crocs are definitely a consideration when swimming in tidal effected water. I have swum in some spots that others may consider not so safe for good reason. and there some areas I wouldn’t swim if you paid me. I have been in the water at cow bay but it was only a quick dip and the water was crystal clear at the time. And is not that safe. If you go to google maps put in cow bay on satellite image you can see the two creeks that enter the sea just north of the car park / tag for cow bay beach. This is why cow bay especially near there is not “safe”. Crocs are estuarine creatures and for sure there would be a croc in one or both of them. That said these are smaller creeks with a limited amount of food available so this keeps the population to a certain level. Male Crocs are extremely territorial so big males tend to find and hold a territory and it is the smaller younger ones that tend to move around. The Daintree river is a total different matter and a tour to see the crocs (I can get a good referral to one) is totally worth doing so you can see them and learn about them from someone who really knows them. Another place that is a definite do not swim is bramston beach as it is a croc highway between two bigger rivers. The “danger do not swim due to crocs” signs are up all over Nth Qld as the threat is real and I’ve only swum in certain spots because I’ve taken a calculated risk based on having a reasonable understanding of crocs and their habit. Swimming is safer in the fresh water streams. where there is a water fall between that location and the sea and or the water is running, crystal clear and ideally colder is almost certainly saltwater croc free. Salt water Crocs have one of the narrowest temperature ranges in which they can survive. They also hate being seen so clear cold smaller creeks is not their territory. Distance from the sea is not a factor though as some of the long rivers that are muddy and flood in the wet season have crocs well above the tide line. Most of the rivers on the western side of the cape and the Daintree Mulgrave and other similar rivers are not safe. And once a river he’s above the muddy areas and again becomes crystal clear they become safer. That said a certain swimming spot up the nth Mulgrave river has recently had a croc move in! I value my life so am very careful about where is safe and there are plenty of fabulous safe places to swim. There are some great accomodation options in the Daintree mostly smaller places and as mentioned pk’s is a bigger back packers place that is the centre of life at Cape Tribulation. I’ve not actually stayed there as I know vanilla people locally with whom I have stayed and or in smaller more private places. Almost all of the bigger places have closed or have deteriorated over time as the that area is hard on buildings and most of those places went broke after the GFC. Places change regularly too as owners move there loving the area only to be overwhelmed by the wet season. Some only last one others a few. And Developing it more would ruin it in my opinion.

Thanks for the informative post. We won’t be overnighting up Daintree way, as we have beachfront resort accommodation in Palm Cove, and so will simply do a day trip, stopping in Port Douglas for breakfast en route. Whilst we love bush camping ( dislike official public camping sites where others are present) , “back packer” type establishments are not our scene. We don’t like to share accommodation nor ablution with others. We won’t be swimming in the sea, other than between the nets @ Palm Cove , or between the rocks at Buchans Point, and will avoid all rivers / streams /rock pools close to the beaches . Might go up to Crystal falls and swim there, with the tourists (safety in numbers ). We don’t want to become croc food and have first hand experience of large predators as we previously lived on the African continent, hence being vary cautious. In some of our photos (nude dunes) we were unaware that there were lions in the Namib Desert , not to mention dangerous snakes that hide beneath the sandy surface. We shudder to think what may have happened.
