Pride and Prejudice vs Pride, Prejudice and Zombies

June 01 2017

I've read pride, prejudice and zombies, as well as dawn of the dreadfuls, and i've seen Abraham Lincoln: vampire hunter and pride prejudice and zombies and enjoyed them all. The books are better than the movies, but that's only my opinion. What do people think of these adaptations? Blasphemous monstrosities or witty re-imaginings? Do you think Austin would be flattered or infuriated? There was also that Christian Bale movie (whose name i cant recall) that was basically a new take on Orwell's 1984 which i also thought was good in intent if not perfect in execution.

Love it, personally the originals for me are boring as shit, I had this one girl try and get me to watch pride and prejudice I just couldn't do it. The new adaptations I loved something different and funny.

I couldn't read Pride and Prejudice the text was too highfalutin and convoluted....whilst I enjoyed the movie I don't think it would've matched the book. The movie versions never do. I'm with you SOTL & Dirtyandfriendly The Originals sucked. I know it's hard to do a book in 90mins BUT if it were done well cinematically I'd happily sit and watch upwards of 120mins for a great reproduction. Kingdom of Heaven adapted from Sir Walter Scott's book The Talisman, great story!!

I'm a staunch Jennifer Ehle and Firth fan, the BBC nailed it with that version - it always gives me happy thoughts indeed (like shelves in a closet) "Shelves in the closet... happy thought indeed"

A huge fan of Janes..she was a keen observer of the human condition.A pricker of pomposity and pretension ,that's why she is still relevant today...Clueless was a retelling of Emma . The BBC version of Pride and Predjudice ,all five hours of it,did indeed nail it. But my favourite Jane is Persuasion, much darker and deeper than P&P. Q
