Questions about 50 shades of grey

February 18 2018

Hi everyone. So I've got a few questions about this whole 50 shades craze. I've asked a couple of girls I know so now I thought I'd get the opinions of the awesome women of rhp. So here goes: Do you agree the books are actually terribly written? (I've heard they are). If so did the subject matter and explicit content keep you reading/watching or did the poor writing put you off? What did you think of the films? Has it helped spice up your own sex life? Lastly, even though the target audience is meant to be women, are there any men who took an interest in the books and/or movie? - Posted from rhpmobile

hearing it had changed the house wives vanilla world of sex as they know it. Then see a rich spoilt brat hone in on a girl, pique her curiosities, hit her up with a contract she was reluctant to agree, stork her, then belt her so that she ran off crying her eyes out. Thought WTF. Mado Mado Tara xx

As someone who lives BDSM lifestyle as part of his daily life, I have a very low opinion of the whole story; BDSM could not be represented worse. BDSM is not about abuse, anyone knows a thing or two about this lifestyle knows that consent is a huge thing. Second; conversations are poorly written and author shows no exceptional skills in anywhere, I started reading, got out off by childish remarks “oh crap”. If you want to read serious BDSM literature that also left marks in philosophy and erotic art, here are few cult books; -Story of O by Pauline Reage (movie adaptation of the book was also very successful and controversial) -Philosophy in the bedroom from Marquis De Sade (you ever wondered where the name sadism came from?) -Venus in furs (cult book of femdoms) -Skeeping Beauty trilogy from Anne Rice (She was the author of the book that was later became a movie Interview with Vampire) - Posted from rhpmobile

    1. Yes, the writing was beyond bad 2. The subject matter and explicit content wasn't enough to keep me reading... I couldn't finish the first book, so didn't bother with the rest 3. Didn't see the films, so I can't comment 4. No impact on my sex life at all, it was pretty spicy already 😉

I also enjoy BDSM sex and it is not about abusing the lady (or man) your having sex with, it is all about boundaries and consent to push limits if you will. A lot of people confuse this and think a guys who likes rough or BDSM sex just wants to hurt or abuse people and it’s not the case. I definitely think the movies and books show a different view of BDSM and when they first came out it really showed in the community how uneducated people are when it comes to BDSM. - Posted from rhpmobile

.. compliments of RHP who put on a special showing in Sydney.. I thought it was so so but the lady I took loved it ... The best part of the night for me was perving on some of the sexy ladies there , plus the few friends we made who invited us to the after party , which ' as usual i had to decline due to work... grrrr Regarding the movie.. I see it as Porn for ladies ? Nothing wrong with that ... Like it or leave it...

If Christian Grey wasn’t mega rich...... .... it would just be a terrible story about domestic abuse that would no doubt incur the wrath of social media feminists worldwide - Posted from rhpmobile

Appreciate what your saying , but it's only fiction and the wealth aspect was no doubt included to fatten the fantasy up. Fragile woman meets rich man who shows her everything she never had and she swept up by all the attention.. I'd guess this is a common fantasy amoung lots of women and I'm guessing why the movie received so much interest .. We can just as easily watch a war movie with ppl getting their limbs blown off or cut in half and we either keep watching or turn it off.. without so much as a whimper ? By no means am I trying to play down what you had to say... point well taken..

I read the first book. Was okay but it was written for a teenage audience I thought. Basic language, etc. there was no anal sex... so that was disappointing. Lol I did attempt the second book but abandoned it after 10 pages. I just couldn’t be bothered. My main issue was the theme thru the book that he was like that because of his upbringing (can’t remember exactly) and that she would save him (make him more vanilla) by her love. Totally lame :( Never seen the movies. Didn’t think I would be able to cope with so much eye rolling.

Lastly, even though the target audience is meant to be women, are there any men who took an interest in the books and/or movie? Heres my 50 Shades of Grey story about a man interested in 50 shades. I'm going off on a tangent but its a pretty funny story so...... I asked my ex husband to watch the first 50 Shades with me but he wouldn't. So I watched it by myself and it was 90 minutes of my life I can't get back. Porn has better acting and its faster to get to the good bits. I never read the books so can't comment. So, a while after this I know my husband is cheating on me but he won't admit it. So leaving no stone unturned as women do, I went through every draw, every garbage and every computer file I could get my hand on trying to procure evidence. Sherlock Holmes has nothing on a woman scorned. So in my search I open one of his drawers and there, hidden, I find 50 Shades Of Grey along with a copy of .......The motherfucking Notebook??? This man never watched a romantic drama in his life, let alone the pseudo porn with me so I'm like "You lying arsehole."... also I found a little note from his lover, but honestly, The Notebook was all the evidence I needed. After I vomited a little in my mouth I did what any woman would have done. I never said anything, but I smashed up the 50 shades DVD with a hammer. Wrote fuck you all over the pieces in magic marker and placed it gently back back into the cover and then back into in his drawer and left it as I found it. I still wish I had a hidden camera to see his face when he opened it. LOL. Hopefully it was on video night with his lover. Disclaimer: I don't usually go at things with a hammer. Don't be scared of me. P.S I also wrote fuck you on The Notebook, underneath, on the playing side he he.

The first bit of my last post was supposed to be a quote from the OP's post. But didn't come out in bold. This bit. "Lastly, even though the target audience is meant to be women, are there any men who took an interest in the books and/or movie?"

it's just an abusive relationship isn't it? The author may like to think it's about BDSM which really goes to show how little she knows and what a fraud the book was. The best Hollywood film about a Dom/sub relationship will forever be Secretary - Posted from rhpmobile

I found the books very boring. I really don't know what all the hype was about. I watched the first movie and that was enough for me. I'm not even into BDSM and my sex life is more exciting than that! What a load of crap. Like they say, it's only exotic and romantic because he's a billionaire. If he lived in a trailer park it would just be another episode of Criminal Minds. - Posted from rhpmobile

I thought they were all a bit dull... it felt like what they were - soft Twilight fan fiction. Despite the whole "BDSM" twist they promote, I don't expect it to really have much, particularly nothing that might get the pulses racing on here... but the audience here has a todo list like "Party Friday - buy codpiece and cape", and clothes pegs are "nipple clamps you can also hang clothes with". What I do expect is for it to have at least some palpable sexual chemistry - there was more sexual spark between William Shatner and David Spade in Boston Legal. I couldn't make it through more than a few pages of the books whenever I've picked them up - the movie had salty popcorn and maltesers to soften the blow (or lack thereof)

I won’t watch the others. The first was kind of a dopey storyline with odd characters that I just couldn’t seem to care for He was a manipulator and gaslighter, but apparently his wealth made that acceptable..... which flies in the face of the new era of social media feminism Hmmmm - Posted from rhpmobile
