Random celebrity encounters

August 20 2016

Just a general discussion/ story swapping about any time you've had a random run in with a celebrity. Just happened to share a flight back from work with twin sisters who are in the Australian music charts at the moment... Not to sure about name dropping but I'm sure you guys can work out who I mean. They were humble, posed for photos with men women and little kids aswell as signed autographs... - Posted from rhpmobile

...which is not far out of Los Angeles, it wasn't uncommon to have run-ins with them. I remember taking my girlfriend at the time out to a movie and while we were waiting for our show, Tom Green and Drew Barrymore walked through the lobby on their way to catch a movie, too.

My sister and I were in London for a weekend. We took a wrong turn in Covent Garden on the way back to the hotel. Passed the back exit to one of the theatres and Orlando Bloom came out. My sister is a huge admirer of his and he took time to chat and pose for a picture. Hes incredibly good looking and very lovely and unaffected :)

Back in the very late 70's there were a group doing the rounds in various Sydney clubs. The group consisted of the then number one singers in both Singapore and Malaysia (the one from Singapore was the headline act), together with their band. Met up with them after a performance at one particular venue where I was member, and became good friends with them whilst they were touring around here, and also afterwards. The Malaysian girl became my girlfriend for a period of time. More recently, I have become quite involved with the psychic / medium crowd. I know many of the well known 'names', and they me, to the extent I have visited some of them at home. Whenever I attend the various psychic expo's around we all make sure to say hi to one another. Quoting 'libbylou2' I met Jackie Chan, while walking down the street with all the stars on it. He was asking all the usual questions about Australia ...like did we have a kangaroo lol - Posted from rhpmobile Not sure why Jackie Chan would ask such questions about people having kangaroos in Australia as he has spent quite a bit of time here and would know they are not pets.Perhaps he was humouring you. Jackie arrived in Australia at the age of 6 when his father moved here for work in the 1960's however he was soon sent back to Hong Kong to attend the China Drama Academy, He continued to spend lengthy periods in Canberra with his parents, briefly attending a local high school. His parents are both buried in Canberra.

I was in melbourne on a regular trip and was having dinner with a mate at a Chinese restaurant right in the city centre and was seated next to two couples and when my food arrived i heard one enquire to their partner that it looked good so I looked over to see them it was bomber Thompson (he was the bombers coach at the time) I just replied as to what it was and wished him luck for the upcoming game as they left.. Later that same week literally bumped into Chas liccarliardello from the chasers as he stepped off a tram - Posted from rhpmobile

Attended a grand final function at the Pratt estate with a number of the Neighbours/Home and Away crowd though I don't know any of them by name. Instead me and my brother bantered with Molly Meldrum (it was the drawn GF and my brother and I flew over as mad Saints supporters are wont to do) and "Aussie" Jo Bugner. Also met Dimebag Darrel from Pantera in the toilets at the Hip-E Club in the late 90's. Ended up putting myself and my friend on the door for the following nights concert so went backstage and ended up sharing their limo back to the Hip-e the following night.

A good friend of mine used to be one of Les Girls for quite some time. She's settled down now with one of the guys who was in the supporting act (a male stripper). I also often bump into AFL players where I stay for my Melbourne visits. I've met Vince Colosimo as a friend of mine is his cousin and I've had pizza and gelato with Joey Perone (does anyone remember him????) many many many moons ago (that's probably showing my age a bit!).

God to many Australian music artists to mention, mostly at record launches and i have a few Australian Hip Hop artists as friends in real life. But the 2 that stick out in my mind most was drinking with Gary Sweet at a record launch and he is a rather inappropriate guy when drunk as hell but funny none the less and when living in Darwin i was at the pub and noticed the original red wiggle sitting by himself having a beer, i sat with him for a few hours drinking actually after i told him i hated him for making me listen to big red car driving from Darwin all the way to Perth.

I hired Kevin Bloody Wilson to do a gig once at a Pub I was managing (The Melbourne Hotel). I carried his bags up to his room for him and showed him into his suite. After the show we were having a few drinks and he said to me that in all his years in the business, no one had ever bothered to do that before. He came back on the return leg of his tour and did another show for free as a result. It's the little things.

We walked right into the middle or Robbies security screen stepping of a elevator at Observation City ,pissed as after leaving a Wedding.Being the chivalrous type i held Maggies hand and pushed threw the throng ,only too be growled at Cozz Maggie came face to face with Robbie and his was leering at her Titts poking out the top of her gown and he gave her one of his naughty smiles and a wink ,and i fucked it all up by dragging her away.I had no idea who the fuck he was.She has forgiven me i think ,She would of loved being a notch on his bed post.

I got told after the fact, that a famous soccer player attempted a pass at me but was immesly disappointed when I didn't know who he was. I still have no idea to this day. The only famous people I bumped into that nobody would probably know (so probably doesn't count as famous I guess) are j mascis (musician), Steve caballero (skater), frances bean cobain and the fat kid from the goonies!!! - Posted from rhpmobile

As a young VFL fan I got Alex Jesaulenko (JEZZA's) autograph as well as heaps of other superstars... My favorite idol was Royce Hart from the Tiges... Back home in WA some years later working at a bank in Perth I saw some tall dude walk out of the Parmelia Hilton in the most stunning metallic gold lame suit with an equally stunning blonde hanging off his arm... It was Bryan Ferry and Jerry Hall... Just recently I was having an early morning swim in a Mexican resort pool and the only other swimmer with me was the great rock n roller Sammy Hagar from Van Halen... I was too shocked and embarrassed to ask for an autograph lol... He gave Mrs Sxc_swcouple a nice smile that's for sure... She is such a doll...

From being a qantas platinum member you run across a number of people and I have got the odd invitation to the chairmans lounge where there are more the a list crowd. What happens in that lounge stays in that lounge. Although the unwritten rule is never approach in the lounges a few I have had some great conversations with as they have joined my table when it's been busy. A few are also very arrogant in watching how they treat the lounge staff. - Posted from rhpmobile

My favourite celebrity story was from an ex girlfriend. She was leaving Chateau Marmont one unusually rainy LA night, and didn't have an umbrella so she was huddling under the awning trying to hail a cab from there. Suddenly Cameron Diaz sailed out of the bar with an umbrella, went straight out onto the road and hailed a cab. As soon as it pulled up she opened the back door and ushered my friend in. She said it was like something out of a weird superhero movie, as she rushed through the rain and got in. Cameron slammed the door and headed back into the car park to get her own car, and as the taxi drove off my friend wound down the window and shouted "thank you Cameron Diaz!" And Cameron turned in the carpark and waved as she disappeared into the rainy night. - Posted from rhpmobile
