Is there anyone out in RHP land that do Roller Derby? I am thinking of having my first try of it this Sunday afternoon - abit nervous, but think it would be fun.... Love to hear your stories... Mrs C

I know some people who do it (some in Tamworth too) they have fun. Foxxy - it has an incredibly low barrier to entry as far as skating skill goes so even if you're not stellar on your skates you won't be the lone 'Bambi on ice', or far behind most.

... I grew up with got hooked into roller derby when we were teenagers. I thought he would follow me into footy but choose to go to the US instead where he made quite a name for himself . I remember they gave him a skate name something like' the thunder from down under' or something like that.. Anyway' he had a quite a fan base and earn't himself some big bucks before retiring and coming back home..

was my Derby name for almost four years, unfortunately my knees and ankles got dodgy and I chose to retire so I could walk when I'm older. I loved and lived Roller derby, it's a lifestyle and you do need to be able to skate and stop to pass Fresh Meat or gain your first Star level. There are minimum requirements needed depending on which league you are trying out for. It's great fun, make sure you hydrate well, cross train and warm up off skates before training. You will soon have an amazing pelvic floor, inner thighs and a butt that could crack nuts. You will be hip checking everything in sight and eyeing off all flat surfaces for the possibility of an extra skate. A broom becomes an added requirement to your boot just in case of gum nuts and you will stink, yep, big bad smell from the safety gear, always, always air that shit out! Smashy, Smashy :)

Thanks for that... :) However if I walk like a baby giraffe in high heels imagine what I would be like in skates! Plus I don't have much patience and can be quite competitive at time...I'd be saying "Get out of my biatch!" ;) northchina Have you ever seen the movie,"Whip it" with Drew Barrymore. That's what Roller Derby is. Foxy
