I don't know about lowering standards. BUT there are many ways we can express what are, essentially, regrets. Yes, the person we fucked/sucked/fingered/kissed and so wish we hadn't. Being a blindman I have by virtue of my nature the ability to ignore what others may find distasteful. To be blind to what may under some less needy times not have floated my boat. Though i can not in all reality say I am lowering my standards, when at the bottom there is no room to negotiate down. I can most proudly say I never lower my standards. Yes OP i do sometimes when the blood is pumping and sex is seething through my mind, not reach as high as I might when the waters of the soul are calm. I will say that at times I have done the opposite and reached out very high above. It is something we all possess to climb the tree as high as we can, for no other reason than that we can. The whole time our gaze up to the target. Then when resting for a moment we chance to look down and are caught startled at the dangerous position we have found up high. Then the sure footed confidence of a mountain goat is replaced with fear filled caution of a (some animal not good at heights). Why I look down sometimes is something I should by now know not to do.

On what standards you are talking about. On the physical side, while I am happy to play with anyone of any body type (to BBW), this does not mean I don't have standards. They have to be clean and generally look after themselves. At this stage I am looking for sexual experiences as well as friendship, companionship and connections. For these body type is not a concern (although body type can limit certain physical interactions). I do have other standards: not be drunk (I am never), not be on drugs, be considerate and respectful among others, etc. These I will not lower under any circumstances. Yes, many men would love to have a beautiful bikini bombshell, but that is an unrealistic expectation for most. And if said person did come along that didn't meet my other standards as above, it would still be a no. On a lighter note, if women are too tired/lazy etc as you state, I would assume they would go for a toy or other device, as this would be much less effort than another person, especially one for whom they are "lowering their standards"?

And if i found someone that exceeded my standard, well it would be self generating and once again, too horny to think about being too tired. So summarising, if you get a fuck with me, its gonna be 110%. At least from my side. I have a quality control form that i hand out afterwards. Multiple choice so you only have to tick the box. And it's actually kind of a funny story.... A couple of years ago when I was fresh out of a long term relationship I was at Connies on the prowl for a girl....back then I had little confidence and zero radar! I will sleep with anyone I am attracted to at any particular time providing they are also keen and we are situated somewhere appropriate for such activities and sometimes that last condition is negotiable ;). I can be attracted to lots of weird and wonderful things and I still surprise myself sometimes in that respect. Putting people on an attractiveness spectrum and defining a particular level as my "standards" seems absurd and frankly arrogant. I suspect this kind of thinking often stems from worry what other people think.

It is always enlightening to see how different people interpret what was meant as standards, and take some insight for self reflection :) I particularly agree with Aussiecouple, that (Aunt) Any (love your column btw!) summed it up quite eloquently with her reply. I'm also honored to have the opinions of such gods of the forums as DG ;) on the whole though, the varied opinions of others were enlightening to read. It'd be remiss of me not to clarify a couple of points that were alluded to by some forumites however. At no point was the intent of the meaning of the term 'standards' in my question meant to refer to (one's) appearance. The majority of people understood it at the deeper level it was intended at. But please excuse me if I thought that some posts came across as, shall we say, slightly sensitive in repost. Tells a lot about someone then they counter transfer their (sub)conscious opinions on to the words / expressions of others'. And to allude to never being desperate for sex 😂 that deserves a Darwin Award 🙌🏼 It is interesting to see how the psyche influences people to sleep with others, and I'm glad that most of us can see the funny side to this thread.
