Hmmmm, initially I thought I'd be some sort of puff pastry, but you have to work the doe hard to get the puff happening, so I'll happily be a chocolate eclair as they are much easier to handle. That being said I have always been a sucker for a nice Danish!

I love both your comments. Very funny. I especially like the twisted bit. lol. I guess that i would be a mille feuille. It is a sort of French vanilla slice. I think that it means 1000 leaves, referring to the filo pastry...... I DON'T KNOW WHY but that is what I like. lol. Maybe cos I am a softy at heart but I have many layers.............

The lemon curd tart: simultaneously sweet and zesty, yet also has a bit of a bite at times ;) a classic but a winner, perfect for entertaining or to indulge in alone as a treat, but not something you can have too often as the combination is not a healthy one.

Either a chocolate custard filled éclair, or a double-decker french vanilla slice. No half measures: if you're going to treat yourself, do it properly and enjoy the whole experience!I love challenging my taste buds with zesty lemon tarts every once in a while too! ;)

I sampled a sacher torte made by a swedish chef down at Lorne...(who has now moved on so I can never sample it again). Like forbidden fruit, it was tantalizing with a succulent, sticky surface of thick, smooth chocolate and when you broke through to the moorish cake layer it was so satisfying. To entice the senses even more, there was a tangy, orange jam taste that you were compelled to keep seeking out with every tasty mouthful. Everything just right and destined not to be experienced again! So, yes I like the idea of being like the torte! As a tasty morsel I would love a a gourmet, lamb pie. Pastry that is perfect with a crisp texture and large, wholesometender pieces of lamb that melt in the mouth and is accompanied by sustaining vegetables and an overall piquant flavour of frest mint. The hard part is that you can only slowly slurp at it as it is usually too hot to take large bites. For anyone who is interested you can get such a pie at the Freshwater Creek Bakery in Victoria............to find a man like that pie would be rather delightful!

So, whilst its not on the menu, this is me: chunky beef and red wine pie filling, slow cooked for hours til the meat just falls apart in your mouth, rich and hot and textured; however, not in a pie, but in a white crusty roll straight out of the oven, torn apart with your fingers, steaming and soft... A dollop of the pie filling in the middle of the roll, and voila! One Vagabonde, to go ;) (best consumed hard and fast as the juices are likely to run down your chin and wrists if you aren't quick!). Also, I'm off to make lemon curd tart, I really really feel like one, now...

Ok ok I'll change. (but they are fresher from the bakers than the supoer market, catch the early bird and the inner is still warm too) but you winsoWould have to be a carrot and walnut woopie then, nut in every bite (as long as you don't take more than two lol)if your really good might let you have a bit of cream cheese frosting to finish it of

I'm a seed roll. It's ultra-competitive in that sweets-fridge, so I'm content to just sit back and feel superior to the plain rolls and breads, waiting for someone who wants something more substantial than a quick sugar high. Someone with a slightly more eclectic taste, after something a little different. Mmmm - and I make a pretty good base to drizzle butter and honey on. . But sometimes I'm a sticky cinnamon scroll!

Just have to reply after seeing the topic - it brought the memory of scene from The Sopranos when Fat Tony sits at the cafe and sees the hot real estate agent he later had an affair with coming up the street. At same time someone at the cafe mentions something about a baguette, and he cracks a joke: "Oh yeah, a baguette, I think I am just having a baguette in my pants" :-)

A funny thing happened during a job interview in my twenties. As part of the interview at an icecream parlour, I was shown how the cinnamon doughnuts were made out the back of the shop, I didn't stop cooking doughnuts for another hour or two after that lol. I got the job... and cinnamon doughnut sare still a firm favourite.

50Z it's the same as an apple turnover but instead of puff pastry the stewed apple is inside sugary doughnut dough.....there's a little doughnut shop in The Arcade in Rickhampton that used to sell them, I drove past it yesterday and was soooo tempted to go in and see a) if it's still there and b) if they still made them.....(salivating and eyes rolling to back of head) sooooo yummy.......(drool)!!!! Hungry for your doughy goodies

A petit four. Sometimes glazed and sweet, sometimes savoury, but always morish and never too much. Though at the moment I look more like a croquembouche.
