I'm not into romance movies unless there is something else about them that makes them interesting and / or funny, and The Princess Bride is a classic in that respect. So many good quotes... "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." "There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours." A few others (I have more, too many to list here): "My own brother, a Goddamn shit-sucking vampire!! You just wait 'till mum finds out buddy!!" Am I missing something here and agree with Araps every line in Team America is a classic But these lines from the chick lit book and movie "Eat Pray Love"- most women will relate to, well at least one "At the beginning of love affair - I lose myself "The only thing more impossible than staying was leaving" "I disappear into the person I love" "If I love you, you can have it all" "The only way I can recover is to become totally infatuated with someone else"

I too have watched it so many times, it is ridiculous when they re-run the movie on tv, I still watch it.... Love those quotes specially re. the letters... followed by THAT kiss.... ahhhh And I love Bridget Jones Diary..." I like you, just the way you are". "Oh hang on minute, nice guys don't kiss like that".... "Yes, we fucking do"... Then THAT kiss.. "Life is like a box of chocolate. You'll never know what you'll get". Forrest Gump"Luke, I am your father" Starwars. Not romantic but explains a lot of things... Lol. and any movie with Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Losers, etc). Sorry cant use quotes because im on my mobile but to answer the question on why the Notebook movie is so good, for me, its the ultimate love story, where two soulmates never lose that bond even over time, distance, family intervention, war, other partners etc. But its the ending and the story line and meaning behind it all that stirs up the emotions in me :-) have your tissues ready! - Posted from rhpmobile

Isn't The Fault in our Stars about a terminally ill couple? I will take your word for it that it's a good movie. No way would I see that. Haven't seen The Notebook either. The new Transformers movie looks good tho. May go see that. Any one want to come? :P
