The South Africans were never ones for stuffing around!!!

October 03 2014

Found something on Farcebook...Rape has become endemic in South Africa, so a medical technician named Sonette Ehlers developed a product for woman to fight back. Ehlers had never forgotten a rape victim telling her forlornly, "If only I had teeth down there." Ehlers created a product she called Rapex. It resembles a tube, with barbs inside. The woman inserts it like a tampon and any man who tries to rape the woman impales himself on the barbs and must go to an emergency room to have the Rapex removed. Some critics say this is a medieval punishment. What do you think?

Me wonders what other things you will find out ?Personally, I think it's a damn good idea. Most people will have heard of the extent of rape in southern Africa, and usually the associated diseases that come along with that, including up to HIV/AIDS. If a woman has to resort to those sort of measures when the local society has gone down that sort of lawless road, I can't blame her for taking whatever measures she may need to try and keep herself safe. I just hope that it doesn't lead to further tragic consequences if the perpetrator gets 'sprung' and decides for some payback at the time of the offence, such as shooting the woman or similar (gun crime being high too there). While it sounds like a good idea i'd have to disagree. What may have only just been a rape (not to make it sound like its ok) could very well turn into a murder. This product is about 10yrs old and that was the main view on this product from many victims and others. Now if Rapex gave away neon shirts with a flashing Rapex front and back with every purchase and the women wore them maybe then it would be a deterrent.

A device like that would never work in South Africa, trust us we know how the system in that country works, even the president faced rape charges. It's alleged there are 120 000 cases of reported rape a year. There is now even "corrective rape" which involves gang raping suspected lesbians with the hopes of "convincing" them to become straight. It's a very brutal, violent society, where men take what they want. It's all about power and dominance. Breaking into a house to steal a TV, then turns into the wife and daughters being raped at gunpoint whilst husband and male kids being forced to watch before everyone is murdered. Rapex would never work in such a society and would just lead to more violent crime. The solution is for people to be taught to respect one another and the property of others. - Posted from rhpmobile
