Although not me, but my father has a bad case of it. Snored for as long as i can remember, poor momAnyway, he did the apnea test only some 2 years ago and then they gave him this breathing mask apparatus. Since then he feels much more well-rested, better concentration, i am not asking him about his libido, but most of all, my mom finally can sleep as well.Just for testing if it really did the trick, he decided not to use it one night, next morning he felt horrible and on top of that he'd gotten a throat inflammation! That'll teach him from doubting modern science

Great topic sirlurkalotI happen to one of the 9% of women with it. I was diagnosed 2 years ago with severe OSA- my sleep study showed I stopped breathing hundreds of times a night, resulting in low blood oxygen levels - meaning I was literally suffocating myself every night.Being a nurse I knew the health implications of untreated OSA . I was put onto CPAP and haven't looked back.So I'll second sirlurkalots advice...to all my fellow snorer's - speak to your GP and get tested (testing was covered by Medicare in QLD) - and get your life back :)

I take it you had the home sleep study ..... but it wasnt bulk billed .... $230 is really high amount ... it shouldnt have been more than $60.00 out of pocket. But i do agree ... everyone should have the test and see if they could benifit from a cpap machine ... if they snore...... sleep apnea is known as the silent killer.- Posted from rhpmobile

Was that I was told that it wasn't able to be bulk billed.....the money for me wasn't an issue versus what I've uncovered about who/how I am and why. For years I've felt like I've been at war inside my own head, and the more I've tried to figure it out myself, the more it seemed to spill over into my personal relationships. It'll be very interesting to see and document my progress for the purposes of writing a book to raise awareness. - Posted from rhpmobile

Would be interested in knowing how many people that suffer from depression, bipolar, are in fact sufferers of this same disorder. - Posted from rhpmobile

My ex is a snorer. She didn't seem to have any of the health issues that sirlurkalot mentions, but by fuck she could let it rip ! I didn't sleep a wink the first time we slept together :) Some guy prior to me had recorded her and was using her as his ringtone :D sadly I had to promise not to do the same... :( Like all medical problems guys, if you have the symptoms then get bloody checked out ! Yes my sister has it too. When they did the test they saw that she "woke" up every few minutes. So she never actually falls into a deep sleep. As a result she has no energy, is very over weight.... which of course the bigger you are the more uncomfortable your sleep and it all becomes a vicious cycle. She used to get up after a 10 hour sleep and tell me how exhausted she felt.SirLurk, 18 years! Gee why didn't you do something before now? But it is good that you are getting the help you need with this. I hope that your life improves a million fold from here on in. :)

Well...actually...I did. The problem is/was its a hard one to diagnose, which is why I want to write this book. When I was 16 I'd come home from school and be that tired, I'd end up falling asleep on the couch, then sleep all night and have trouble getting out of bed. My doctor at the time said it was post viral lethargy. The same occurred the next year. The changes in me were very subtle, that lifestyle, job, family pressures, and stress were also seeing that it was discounted. If it weren't for the hindsight that I now have after the research and diagnosis, I'd be still trying to find myself.- Posted from rhpmobile

All of those conditions are usually something that follow the sleep apnea. To paint a picture, it may start as snoring, then progress - over time if not corrected - to something worse. My experience is quite a long, very subtle progression, but also noticed just recently the dwindling of libido to next to zero. Even just thinking about sex, and my little clock to a brain scramble would start ticking. However it also limited to sex. Any topic, that's somewhat demanding on brain power, which is frustrating at best, because the trigger is never the same, and becomes very hard to distinguish. Unfortunately however, my awareness is from reflection/hindsight. - Posted from rhpmobile

I once dated a 9%er but I dont think she suffered any of the symptoms assosiated with the condition, apart from mood swings, behavioural changes and SDS (snorers denial syndrome)I, on the other hand did suffer greatly though, and the symptoms included~ sleep depravation, grumpiness, night prodding, a weird form of NTTS (night time Tourettes syndrome) penile dysfunction and loss of libido. She vigorously denided that she ever snored and said that *I* was the snorer, admittedly I can snore quite loudly if I go to sleep really pissed laying on my back with my mouth wide opened, but this only ever happens about once or twice a week.I said that I would film her snoring to prove it, and she said that she would leave me if I did.Anyway I ended up filming her one night when we went camping, it was really funny.Picture this, 3am, a quiet and still moonlit night, we were in a bright orange two man tent in a cow paddock on the banks of the Goulbourn river. Her constant snoring had attracted a herd of milking cows who came over and started sniffing and nuzziling at the tent. I crawled out from the tent fearing I that I may be trodden on and continued filming from a safe distance over by the fire.It was really surreal seeing a dozen or so cows crowded around a mooing tent with all the steam coming from thier nostrills in the moonlight.I'm fairly certain that they were attracted by her snoring as she sounded just like a cow breach birthing an over sized calf, kinnda sounded like a nasally twangy Moo0OOO00ooo trailing off into a shuddering grunt, repeated over and over and over. I was going to put it on funniest home videos but her nipples are showing in the first half of the recording and Im pretty sure it would be rejected. Hmmm perhaps mootube :D@ Highpriority What is your EXes name?
