The times we live in

February 02 2019

"It was the best of times it was the worst of times,it was the age of wisdom it was the age of foolishness. It was the epoch of belief,it was the epoch of incredulity ...A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. In 1859 Dickens was writing about London and Paris at the time of the French Revolution in the late 1700s. I think this could apply to our world today. Is now for you "the best of times" or has it become "the worst of times " full of uncertainty.. For me it is neither one nor the other but I am aware how the balance can be tipped. Hugs Q

like I'm having a whinge, I feel it's the worst of times for Melbourne at the moment and I wish I could move elsewhere but it's impossible at this stage.Melbourne was once a great and, yes, liveable city but not any more.RIP old Melbs.Selfish politicians and certain members of the general public alike have turned this city into an unsafe gridlock of crime and traffic problems from which it will never fully recover. That's just for starters!I feel there are very uncertain times ahead in relation to many issues that affect Melbourne and its residents. On a personal note, it's one of the worst of times in my life as I'm feeling very stressed about the latest restructure at work as are many of my colleagues. There's been a situation brewing for months now and we may finally be given some answers, some direction, at meetings scheduled for Monday however I strongly suspect I know what's going to happen and am very unhappy when I think about what is likely to occur.I desperately hope I'm wrong.I wish I could say my private life is the best of times but it's not.If I could at the very least be given assurance that much needed repairs would be completed at my rented apartment in a timely manner, that would relieve some of the stress but I'm not holding my breath. On a world scale......best of times...........worst of times, yeah it's a bit of both isn't it.

...right or wrong, becomes irrelevant when I thoroughly believe that I have a right to be here and this is where I am staying. Every minute of every day is exactly what I choose to make it and choose for me. The rest of the world can figure itself out and if there are a few that dance to the same music I hear...even better. If not, I'll keep on playing my song. Best of luck... ya gotta believe! ʗɱ

I don't know about Melbourne but what you said probably applies to Australia as a whole and probably NZ too. I fear for the younger generations but think they're adapted to their world and will make the most of it. I mourn for the world we've lost, the freedom we didn't know we had and the absence of politicians "selling" us freedom. *stops before a full blown rave *

I think it’s the same As it’s always been. Humanity swings on a pendulum of dark and light. We are just more aware of many aspects of it due to global communication.
