Is done by the mods. If it is deemed to be unacceptable in some sense, or if complaints are made, or there is too much 'bickering' going on the mods will close it. Otherwise it will usually just fade off into the background.... Tall

Anybody can ask to have a topic closed. Sometimes the mods decide to close them. This forum can be read by anyone, you don't have to be a member or have a profile, so the mods are a bit paranoid about the slightest sniff of controversy that could potentially deter someone reading from joining up.

Can get it deleted without question.Sometimes the OP gets responses they don't want to hear.. They only want to be affirmed and hear that they are right. If they don't get responses that gives them a warm feeling in their pants, they close it after a little tanty.As what happened very recently.........

And shut down quite often, in our experience. Due in large to differing opinions and the arguments, bun fights and bandwagoning that results. Think of a flock of seagulls. One swoops in to grab a chip ( off a plate ) and soon the rest follow. Forums have also become an opportunity for those profiles you have blocked previously, to have a go at you (as they can no longer message you ) by means of commenting (and bitching) on your forum posts / replies to forum posts. Wherever there are people of differing opinions, viewpoints, upbringings & standards, there is bound to be some or other argument & bunfight - it happens a lot within these forums, the chatrooms & on social media. When things escalate and get out of hand, the mods then either delete or close the thread - Posted from rhpmobile

Because some really good topics that should be discussed often degenerate into personal slagging matches which of course ruin it for everyone. That's not to mention going off topic which can also degenerate to the personal. I don't know what the answer is. I'd like to think as adults we could discuss issues in a reasonable manner but clearly we can't and I'm as guilty as anybody. As has been mentioned there are some strong personalities on here so too often the irresistible force collides with an immovable object and the scorched earth solution is the only solution. Such is life.

It's not possible to tell how a thread got deleted but people will make guesses depending on their personality. As a flipside to the view offered here... For those who do have the sense to work out how to contact our customer service team (not an easy thing to do at the best of times)... There are some who won't take the abuse from forumites and will remove the problem rather than putting up with any more. Good for them... Speaking for myself, I've had my threads deleted when people with agendas decided it was the place to play. I've got better things to do with my time and no time for angst on peaceable threads. But with a wider view... I'll report bullying via the 'report abuse' tab but haven't bothered to report anything for months because I've been honest about my actions in the past and the kiddies get all upset and blame me for every missing post. Obviously not the case, eh? The mods make their own decisions and a report does not mean any deletions, it's all at their discretion. Lastly, our mods and owners do follow the forums from what I've read here and can make decisions off their own bat. PeachyPearL

This one will end up the same way. I had my bf topic deleted altogether, goneski, no idea why, tried to contact admin, but of course it blocked me from doing that, kept coming up with error. It was fine, no problem at all, same with other topics that were either ended or deleted. Strange there were so many in the one week. I've never seen that before. Really annoying when they don't even have the courtesy to tell you who reported the topic and why it had been deleted. We all understand why it happens when topics are derailed, but when there's no reason wtf 👎 heavily censored, beyond ridiculous

Wrong. Sorry, that used to be the case. How then would you explain heaps of topics singing along nicely, being ended or deleted, when the op's themselves are confused with no idea what went wrong? Gremlins 😎

I agree, things do get heated and can derail, but there were topics with none of that, they were fine. So why were they deleted, and why won't they give a reason?

That I am a queen of anything is just your opinion, and it is a mistaken one, but you're entitled to it... meh. But just because I'm open about what I do/did does not make me a queen of anything. It just makes me more open and honest than most. I doubt I report anything as much as you imagine and that was part of the point of my post. When you know have something solid, get back to me. Or maybe speak on your own behalf instead throwing around insinuations about things you have no real idea about... I suppose it's great for the drama though... PeachyPearL, meh

We got moved to off topic! Thanks for letting us keep on keeping on RHP. Sorry Swingaling... but thanks for the compliment. The problem is the opening of old wounds I think. I know I haven't asked to have a post or thread edited in any way, shape or form for months. Things have been pretty quiet. I must say I was surprised to read of so many deletions on the Nothing thread (called so to distinguish it from the many other existing topics of pretty much the same name/genre). It's coming across to me as very random. Touch, you should be entitled to an explanation, I've never had a problem with that sort of thing. And that it is a deliberate block doesn't make sense. Maybe try approaching another way? PeachyPearL PS: And while I do get sick of the insinuations, I am not saying I am a Saint there either.

I'm happy on here thanks. I enjoy the forum. I don't walk around with my ass dragging on the ground laden with baggage 😀 Love the forum, I can be going hell for leather over some issue with one or more, on a given day, but the second I leave that topic, I'm over it. I have literally gone from arguing in one topic with someone, straight into a friendly convo with them in another topic 😂😂 Why lose sleep over stuff. How boring would it be without conflict, squeaky clean just isn't me what can I say 😉

What a coincidence. This happened to my post last week. I asked that a couples comments be deleted but instead my whole post got deleted. It's ok. No one puts Sugar in the corner. That's the thing with reporting... RHP will respond their way which may well not be what you want or expect. I'm saying that because I've been there and done that! It's their playground and they may well decide . Did you think about reposting? If it's the thread I'm thinking of, I thought it would be well appreciated. If I'm out of line, I apologise. Peachy

There's a whole pile of threads under Forum Help on the right that explain RHP's attitude. It's a shame, it looks like it is the thread I thought it might be and that is disappointing to see it did go. Repost it. Add a line about off topic posts and get to it before it escalates. That's what I'd like to see anyway. Peachy

I regularly refrain from posting anything because of them alone. A) apparently people aren't entitled to their opinions B) some people have way too many opinions C) they always find a way to go off track and make things personal In my experience, I have seen it over and over. Why should a topic be deleted, because it changes direction, if that's where the members want to take it? The only reason mine are deleted is when I say anything in disagreement with the feminists and they attack :)

It's called human emotion and reaction. Basically you will be protected by the mods and other posters who will call out someone if they are disrespectful. But you need a reasonably hard exterior to repel that first hurtful comment. Not much different to every day life if you think about it. Just it's the written word here, not a spoken word that can diminish over time. Just say what you want to say. Yes there are some strong personalities here, but everyone of them that l have met are beautiful in their own way. Everyone is different. It's no different to real life.
