Treating yourself

I used to believe I had to achieve something to reward myself. But my life has had quite a few challenges over the last few years and I have lost some people so I'm am more in the mind to think that life is the ongoing reward. I'm not extravagant but if I really want to do something I'll just do it and I'll cut back spending in other areas to do the things I really want. Also I think its important for your state of mind to have things to look forward to. Especially when you are single. This is usually events like music concerts, festivals, weekends away with friends. but I also get myself a facial now once a month. I'll also plan to go overseas next year sometime. I'll just book it then save hard to make sure it happens. It's also the little things like I always take myself out once a week on my day off to get a nice coffee in my favourite cafe and spend a couple of hours there reading etc. Even if money is tight there are always little things you can do to make life more enjoyable. In the past I would have felt guilty for spending money on myself or giving myself time but now I think fuck it. I could be dead tomorrow. Just do the stuff you like, while and when you can. If its within your means go for it.

treating myself for the past few weeks and keep telling myself they're "early Christmas presents"! lol To be fair...I don't usually go all out for myself. But I bought myself some jewellery that I'd been admiring for a while. And this weekend I get another tattoo (my second one within a month!) But in answer to your question...I do set myself goals for things, but don't usually set a reward for myself once I acheive it. - Posted from rhpmobile

These are the common ones, my budget doesn’t run to new car/overseas holidays ! A visit to the international beer shop in Leederville. Top shelf rum. Seafood binge; oysters, scallops (roe on) Coral Trout. New York cut (rib eye on bone) steak cut 5cm thick. (Cook myself) Pay a stupid amount for a cool item of clothing. Restaurant meal. A long weekend to do fuck all.

Is anything that makes me happy. I don't see it as "treats" as such, more choosing to look after myself first, before anyone/anything else. I try to do something several times a day, every day, like eat healthy, stress less, set goals and rest my mind, body and soul. Everything else can wait. It's my choice what I do for myself. I'll do things when I want too, not when others think I should or should not do for myself. 😊 Ms Foxy

Is very simple in my case After living with an addict with a very expensive drug habit, nearly be homeless a few times and having to declare bankruptcy when I left him, I value my time and my own space. My son comes first and foremost and it has taken me 12 months to even look like I am back on my feet. Going back to your question. Simple things like having an hour long bath or sitting and watching a movie. Or going to the movies. I love my coffee so that is something I treat myself often and a Red velvet Magnum Ice cream. I have coffee and a muffin with my sister in law. A Chinese take away is the best and not something I can afford all the time. I also treat myself to new lingerie or new clothes but have to save for weeks to get them so I value being able to buy something new rather than Op-shop. A holiday would be awesome but that is not going to happen any time in the near future.

Couldn't agree more.. The more you take care of and look after yourself , the nicer person you are to be around.. Jay..

at least once and sometimes twice a year.. Either with friends or alone , doesn't bother me either way.. Breaks the everyday routine and that's what's important.. Not that I don't like my business , I do , in fact I love it. It allows me the freedom to be me and to choose when and where I want to get away to .. I love to experience different cultures so seriously thinking about Vietnam early next year...

That's tough.. At least your finding or have found yourself again.. Some of the best things in life are the simple things so cherish what you do have and slowly build on it.. Jay..

Hugs. Its a very scary predicament to be financially vulnerable especially when you have a child dependent on you. xx

For me everyday needs something that makes the day be worthwhile and I agree you need to commit to a holiday and then save life becomes so much better when you have it to look forward to. - Posted from rhpmobile

For the support. It means a lot. Everyday things get better and that is all I hope for. Things are pretty good actually and get better everyday I was strong and brave enough to walk away. I am free and what could be worth more than that

Keep an eye on Facebook and Gumtree, sometimes you get people selling them off cheap close to the date. Hope you get to see them - Posted from rhpmobile

Quoting 'midnightblue71' Is very simple in my case After living with an addict with a very expensive drug habit, nearly be homeless a few times and having to declare bankruptcy when I left him, I value my time and my own space. My son comes first and foremost and it has taken me 12 months to even look like I am back on my feet. Three years ago I started work with a new and small team of four. One is a lady who like you had got her son away from a dead end relationship with a susbstance abuser. She got herself and her son a room in a friends house, far from ideal but the all important step away from where she had been. One year later she and her son got into an apartment before getting into a house and then another. Along the way she has paid off her car loan and credit card debt. It's women like you and her who deserve much better than often get. She is a big hearted girl who all through this has donated every pay day to the Starlight Foundation supporting the local kids hospital. So Madam Midnight I hope you too can get this all in your rear view mirror and move forward in 2018.
