Personally as a woman, I would prefer if my exes deleted them mainly because I would feel that it would easily get out on to the interwebs (whether he did it or by accident). In fact, I generally don't allow any videos or photos taken unless I'm sure that there're no distinguishing features visible. Prefer people to use their imaginations more, if you know what I mean! ;P -MsT

It is always a good choice to backup everything you have on any computer onto a separate hard drive. So in this case, you can leave your confidential videos on said hard drive, that never gets plugged into your normal computer until you want to view them. That will eliminate most risk of accidental copying or uploading. As for general videos and pictures, they are all memories of your life, and when you are old and frail memory may be a very rare and precious thing. - Posted from rhpmobile

are very well protected with no chance of being misused. In fact they are on a flash drive locked up in a filing cabinet and even the flash drive itself is password protected. As I said there is no risk to anyone. The videos themselves were only taken because we both found porn to be boring and we both knew that the other was trustworthy. Ms.T. I think you are taking it to the extreme. I'm not your ex so whatever grievances you have with him are not related to me and as I already mentioned the flash drive is locked up. It would take an extreme amount of effort to break in to my house, break into the filing cabinet, find the flash drive amongst a million folders full of boring work related paperwork before the security company arrived at my door and then have the ability to hack the drive without it being deleted first. It was a simple question... Mr Playful, Valid point and I had considered it already. She has her own copies by the way and I wouldnt know if she decided to keep them or not. We trust each other. Yeah my post was a bit off. Personally nothing to do with him, we are actually good friends. It is my choice he deletes them and as Gaz said, don't live in nodtalgia. Your choice however. In reference to the safety of the hard drive. Sure I understand that too. I think you should delete but in saying that then I am a hypocrite A few years ago I had an amazing relationship which ended reasonabley amicably. My partner was a gifted writer and all through our time together he sent me hundreds of emails full of many musings Some of his writings whilst full of love were also full of raunch and lust and it always thrilled me that I inspired such words in another human being. So when we split I did what you did and dumped all his writings to a USB which I have filed away securely for my eyes only Also on the stick are pics of him and me, some of which would be considered ...um pornographic It never entered my head delete any of it. I considered as they were sent to me, they are mine to keep. I have filed it away for my old age when I can then look back and ponder "what if ", and with wrinkley skin, I can acknowledge that I was once adored I didn't destroy our photos together of when we went on holidays etc so why destroy that other side of us that was intimate and very real ? I appreciate that writings and photos are not quite the same as videos but hell, if my ex is on the other side of the world getting off on a old photo of me, or something I wrote, then yay I'm good with it And here's the thing. I recently moved house and found that USB stick. I popped it into my computer and started reading it for a while. It did make me warm and fuzzy and nostalgic but also a little embarrassed and after a while I stopped reading. The memory of him no longer had any effect on me except bittersweet. It's been 5 years now and I have grown and moved on and I no longer need his words to feel good about me I've kept the stick, I'm not ready to let go of it yet but I'm also confident that I really won't read it again till I have grey in my hair The stick will only ever for me and if by chance someone finds it, reads it after I'm gone or even now, I hope they can think to themselves "wow pip was some hot little momma , didn't think she had it in her"

I have since deleted the videos. Sadly now I really want to watch them one last time. Rip it off like a bandaid, onwards and upwards, blah blah blah It was harder than I thought it would be but only because I find porn so boring and they had a very personal aspect to them. Nah. That's not the kind of conversation I really wanted to have with her. It's complicated but basically she has brought up the topic of trying again (The relationship, not the videos!) on more than one occasion and I prefer to keep our contact strictly about our child. It took both of us a long time to completely move on because the decision to end the relationship was not based on fighting or cheating or anything terrible. It just got stale. After many years of trying to hang on to the honeymoon period as well as the 'opposites attract' ideal, we were just too different and really had nothing in common so we ended up having very little to talk about. My point is that I didn't want to raise a topic that could be misconstrued as still hanging on to the past in any way. It's possible she would have been fine with me keeping them. You will just have to make some new ones I thought it was the right thing to do but then I read Pipsqueaks comments. It made me think twice. Similar analogy. I kind of wish I had kept a more thorough diary from the day I started on here. It would be nice to look back and see how things have evolved and changed and also remember those moments in written form. I did write a bit about a couple, especially the first one and I love looking back at them. I guess the emotion behind the video is similar. Capturing a moment in time that was special to you. That made you feel alive. Its not so much as dwelling on things but we all like to hold on to those things that made our life richer. I count sexual experiences as part of that so I can see how it would be hard to delete it. Its those moments of connection and excitement that makes life great.

I already regret it to some extent, and the reason for this is as follows...(and I apologise in advance for a potentially longwinded explanation!) Yes to some extent files can be retrieved. Nothing is ever actually deleted when you click delete. It basically just makes the files invisible until they get replaced with other files.
