March 05 2017

And what would you recommend? ...I am about to have more surgery and will be immobile for a number of weeks...hence this post. I am currently reading Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall,a fictional biography of Thomas Cromwell a Secretary to Henry V111...if you love history, you will love this. The tv series was excellent too. I am currently watching the series Billions which I am enjoying. Q

May I wish you all the best for your surgery and a speedy recovery I loved Wolf Hall, both the book and the series and eagerly awaiting the "sequel" addressing the Jane Seymour period, currently being filmed of which I've read the book also ( Bringing up the bodies) I'm reading two books at present - "Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis the untold story " by Barbara Leeming, I love bio's and "Dark Places" by Gillian Flynn, the author who also wrote " Gone Girl" . This is one of her earlier books which I'm thoroughly enjoying. Tv wise, I've just finished watching "Midnight Sun" on SBS demand - which was great and also I've just started streaming " When We Rise" starring a stellar cast including Guy Pearce and Rachel Griffiths, really good so far. Ive also watched "The Crown" which was exceptional but I hesitate in recommending you viewing "The Kettering Incident". I loved it but the last ten minutes (the ending) completely did my head in. I still don't get it.

... for your surgery and hope that you'll get the best outcome and a speedy recovery! You always have the forums if you get bored! ;) I'm reading ScandiKitchen : The Essence of Hygge by Bronte Aurell atm. I'm also flipping through Chakras : Seven Keys to Awakening and Healing the Energy Body by Anodea Judith, out of curiosity. As for TV series, I really enjoyed The Tunnel, Series 1 & 2, which I got from JB Hi-Fi. It's a fabulous whodunnit series involving detectives from both the UK and France. The French series, Les Revenants (The Returned) is also very enjoyable. The US recently remade their own version of it. If you enjoy a bit of dark mystery, you'd enjoy the series, Penny Dreadful. I find the dialogue to be very intelligent and it is steeped in history with a generous dash of the occult. It can be very disturbing and is not for the faint-hearted. ;)

Quoting 'PurePeony' The French series, Les Revenants (The Returned) is also very enjoyable. I'll second Les Revenants. The first season came out a few years ago and the second season was just released last year. Very haunting show, gorgeous setting. Recently I've also enjoyed Hit and Miss with Chloe Sevigny (on SBS On Demand), and Santa Monica Diet with Drew Barrymore, on Netflix. Oh, and the latest season of American Horror Story, the one with Lady Gaga.

This is one for you Catherine, and welcome back. It's about a professional assassin who has to become parent and step parent to a deceased exe's kids... There is a twist to it and you might still catch up with this on SBS.

That's the latest American Horror Story with Lady Gaga! The monster with the giant drill bit for a penis who goes around anal raping poor hotel guests and sending them to a very horrific and very bloody death is one of the scariest monsters around!

Of the SBS series Midnight Sun, it was excellent. It is available on SBS On Demand, so if you have a laptop or tablet it is well worth viewing - 8 episodes of roughly 50 mins each. Other than that I don't follow many series ...oh I lie! Grand Designs is a must, but that may be due to a crush on Kevin McCloud 😆 Books - I recently finished Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, an incredible read. The latest bedside book is Empress Dowager CIXI, the concubine who launched modern China. It's by Jung Chang, author of Wild Swans (loved that book!). I'm a huge fan of Chinese history and culture which has resulted in a growing collection of resources.

Sending love and healing vibes your way x Reading - not much use to you on this front right now, unless you are also doing a post grad in landscape design?? I'm currently reading a lot of Botanical Latin Watching - loved Nobel (Norwegian series) on Netflix, also loved Black Mirror, AO is also good. Can suggest many more, depending on what you lean towards. WARNING!! We started watching Santa Clarita Diet tonight, based on a suggestion from the gorgeous Dragon... unfortunately we decided to start this series while having a chilled out meal in front of the tv, instead of at the table... I do not recommend watching while eating haha Jonesy, I'll share Kevin with you

I just started reading Nocturnal Animals...so far the book is better than the movie but I find that in most cases. Yesterday I started to watch The Walking Dead...I am not usually a fan of those kinds of shows but it kind of got me lol. Might need to find a good documentary to watch today to balance it all out lol. xx

I usually am. But I'm deep up to my neck with wirk reading such as specifications, businesses reports and legal contracts. All very exciting of course. While I'm away, I always carry a book for reading leisure. I'm alternating between a Steven King Novel, a book on Australian Aboriginal Art, and a collection of classic Russian short stories and a book by Guy De Maupassant. I love classic literature. I haven't had much time for TV here as flat out working til 8 or 10. So I might turn on the TV in my hotel fir background noise as I catch up with FB. I watch the ABC news which is available here on cable. good to keep abreast with Aussie current affairs. Be well Q. Hope you the best in your recovery.

I'd like to catch up with The Walking Dead series. My son loves it and I have to borrow the series fr the library to understand what he is talking about and why he is so engrossed in it. Some conversation topic woth him, so I.can share his enthusiasm. I bought the whole series of books of GoT from Amazon. For my boy for Xmas. But I may end up reading it too. He loves watching the GoT. I'm also reading the latest issue of Australian Women's Fitness. Great exercise and sports training pointers. .

I too wish you all the best for your surgery and hope that you recover quickly. I found "Rich Kids" by Paul Barry a very, very well written and interesting read. I know it's not a new book but for anyone that has any interest in Australian business and/or prefers to read fact over fiction, this is a book you can't put down. You do like history I know.....I am halfway through "The Savage Shore" by Graham Seal at the moment. Not my favourite book but I'm plodding through to the end. A good one for those who are may be interested in the maritime discovery of Australia. Currently I'm also reading "Accept The Challenge" - Leigh Matthews autobiography which I (think) you wouldn't be interested in however I mention it because I enjoy his quotes at the start of each chapter and have used some as inspiration at morning meetings at work. As for tv, I don't watch a lot, although I do try to keep up with the news.I love Planet America, Big Bang Theory and Househusbands but am also finding the new show "This Is Us" quite quirky and refreshing. Good luck Q!

A good laugh with a bit of drama. It's pretty important to start at "One for the Money" after that 2-23 it doesn't really matter.

Graeme MacRae Burnet's His Bloody Project. I've only just started, but it's very promising. And I'm watching Taboo. Developed by Tom Hardy and his dad Chips, together with Stephen Knight (Peaky Blinders), it's a muddy, dirty, violent series set at the turn of the 19th Century in London. I'm loving it.

Currently reading/watching Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan chronology... reading the books I have, the movies of the books I don't have but have read, and arguing with the inconsistencies. Watched the first 5 episodes to date of Designated Survivor on Netflix, a political drama based upon Tom Clancy's Executive Orders. Watched "The Trip To Italy" recently with Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan and have been inspired to finally get around to reading the works of Byron and others... Just need to find hard copies as I really don't enjoy reading digital copies. As for TV series... I'm extremely interested in watching The Night Manager on SBS (Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie). Cheers and dog ears Rusty
