For us when we were younger it was the pill, then around 40 pregnancy happened while on the pill, we were not swinging at that stage. The doctors told us that can happen as the girls hit 40.....quite a side effect pregnancy! . So then he got cut, then 3 years later she go hysterectomy due to endometreosis. Then 3-4 years later we started swinging ...no chance of pregnancy etc and no need for the girlie swabs.

My last serious ex had what she called the copper IUD and it was very reliable and she was 100% happy with it. There was a tail hanging into the vagina that I could feel with my penis size at times but quite a fun feel. Her issues with other methods was that her body did not like weird hormones. So there is onviously a number of IUD types I assume. Sorry for lack of info beyond that.

Tubal Ligation! It's awesome as I don't really have to worry about falling pregnant and hope never to again. For 99% of people I meet on here I use condoms anyway but that's not for contraception purposes

I love my Mirena, the failure rate is lower than the pill because it removes the chance of human error, forgetting to take it or taking it with other things that lower the pill's efficiency, etc. As for the infertility risk, chlamydia and gonorrhoea can cause PID (which can lead to infertility) on their own even if you don't have an IUD, if left untreated which is very likely if you aren't having regular testing as they're very infectious and often symptomless. IUD's if inserted correctly and compatible with your body give you only a slightly increased risk of PID near the time of insertion, but the risk can be reduced if you're tested/treated for the STD if you have one BEFORE going and having the IUD inserted, and again get tested regularly after insertion. Even if you're practicing safe sex with everybody but your partner, or even everybody AND your partner, the moral of the story is: regular testing.xx Sarah

in reality only women can get pregnant,so contraception is oftenleft to them to take care of = but in reality both partners should be thinking about it. I got a vasectomy and my wife loved the freedom of it, our sex life took off in a major way after that, it is the best and in reality the only one that truly is reliable... Now to the other side of it - STD prevention, pills are not going to do it, condoms are mostly reliable but nothing is 100% When swinging or clubing you need to make sure - but how can you, that whoever you're having fun with is clean and disease free... my experience is friendship first, once you figure that the person is sensible, reasonable and not just after a one-nighter plainly ask - by that time they'd be thinking the same thing, make sure you're on the same wavelenght. In other words - fuck friends only, once you know they're clean... ;-)

Another Mirena lover here! I have good friends that are dr's and they're argument for it was, "why stick something in your arm or digest something to circulate your whole body, when an IUD does all it's work in the place it's needed."

When we first talked about swinging one of the first things I did was go to my doctor to get my options. Hubby had the snip after our second child was born so he is fine. The condoms are a must for protection against STI's however the pill was just to make me feel a little safer against the possibility of falling pregnant. Talk to your doctor about what will be best for you. Have fun playing

vasectomy... and condoms.... I also like the rhythm method.... it's like edging, and oh... I heard that you can't get pregnant if you cum in her arse... So that's like a 4 prong approach. Hugs Stalky

IUD's can wreck the female parts. Also the little recovery tether that sits through the cervix (on some types) can be a painful effect on the end of a guys most sensitive parts. Regarding the pill, keep trying different ones because some can make a woman behave psychotically which is no fun for either of the couple. As for their effectiveness, they most likely work the same as each other (well you'd hope so anyway).
