Women with very short hair style

November 08 2015

What does it mean to you when you see a woman with a very short hair style? I was re-watching "The Walking Dead" series and one of the female characters in the series has a very short hair style, which she got mistaken for a lesbian in one of the episodes, by someone outside her survival group. This female character is not a lesbian character in the series, she just happens to wear a very short hair and it suits her face shape. My questions are: 1) Do you even have any thoughts at all when you see women with extremely short hair cut? 2) If you do, what are your thoughts? 3) Is extremely short hair cut on women symbolic for lesbian in today's age and society? Or has it always been symbolic for lesbian and I just didn't know given my cultural background? 4) How far would you run away from a short haired woman? Or how faster would you be running towards her? I got intrigued by that particular scene in the TWD series and thought I would put it out there to see what you think, and to gain some real insight about what men generally think of women who like to wear extremely short hair style 😛 - Posted from rhpmobile

For me as a teen with the idiots I knocked about with short hair on a female instantly put them on the lesbian (ignorance is such crap), a little like back then if a man danced or was a hairdresser, bam he must be gay. For me the women I have known who have cut their hair very short have all been very confident women. I think as you have stated that it can come down to face shape whether it suits one or not but who truly cares as long as we are happy and confident in ourselves. As with anything in life looks cannot judge a personality so there is no way I would run the other way. Damn I looked like a real bum in my late teens and people were put off approaching me yet they would have met a gentle, kind and generous being if they had bothered.

I keep my hair short as it tends to grow out not down. It is very thick and stubborn, so it is my only option. Just lucky it suits me short. On the plus side I never get head lice and it's cool in summer lol. - Posted from rhpmobile

Ive never really followed the stereotype view that all lesbians have short hair, ipso facto a woman with short hair might be lesbian. Its just hair. When Sigourney Weaver shaved her head and took on alien invaders, she didn't become lesbian just to suit the hairstyle.... just a s Portia de Rossi isn't pretending to be gay although her locks are rather long at the moment. Now... if any of these women just so happened to be down between the thighs of another lady, I may stand corrected...... after paying close attention for a prolonged period.

I usually ask them where they get their hair cut :) Its hard to find a good short hair cutter. Funny you should ask this question Sweetgem, I was thinking of posting something similar myself just yesterday. I do have short hair.....and often it is assumed that I must be a lesbian...What tha! My preferrence for short hair is because when it gets any longer than a couple of inches, it curls like Shirley Temple. Cute maybe, but it doesnt grow downwards as such, it grows outwards....until it becomes so heavy it eventually heads downwards....and can take a couple of years just to reach my shoulders. Its hot, its a pain in the arse to look after, so I keep it short. There have been a few times over the past 30 years where I have tried to grow it, cant seem to get past the boofhead fluffy stage without sucumbing to the scissors again and my friends , family always say "oh it suits you so much better short". So if people choose to think I am a lesbian because of my short hair, fine, I cant do anything to change their thoughts.

would be to look how she dresses and carries herself before offering a theory to myself. And i always over think things as well so im usually off the mark. But then as im bi it makes absolutely no diff what orientation they are. If she looked like a nice human then she would have my respect. And if she was bi or gay, that would make her more interesting for any interaction or friendship.

I think the she has short hair. Period. I have had long hair most of my life, but there was a period a few years ago that it was really short. I shaved my head to support a dear friend who was losing her hair after chemo treatment. I had never had short hair, and it was incredibly liberating, so I kept it really short for ages, experimenting with different styles. I did have quite a few people making assumptions about my sexuality at the time (particularly as it coincided with my short-lived but spectacularly funny softball career). I know a great many gay women with long hair, and a great many straight women with the stereotypical "gay" short hair cuts. And I fully support DG's method of telling whether are gay. I'll bring the popcorn. :-)

But then I love women with long hair tooo. A dear and gorgeous friend who has short black hair... is often taken to be gay... a cop or in the military... weird. A woman with a spectacularly elegant neck should never hide it in her tresses.... cut it short or put it up... so all can admire, kiss, lick and nibble... Am I getting carried away... perhaps.

    1. It really suits some women, 2. It does or it doesn't suit that women 3. I don't know 4. depends wether it suits the woman or not A pixie cut takes years off some women, but ultimately it the woman not the hair.

I have a preference to medium or longer haired woman. (went out with a blond woman for awhile with hair down to her knees, amazing, but a bit of a pain to get ready if going out). Shortish hair can look very nice if styled. However, I believe it does depend on face shape, type of clothes worn, circumstances etc. I am not a fan of really short / shaved type short, but that is just my preference. And yes I have seen some woman with very short hair, also the clothes and style, which to me seemed obviously very butch type. Not that it worried me if they were or were not, the package as a whole was not my type.

A woman needs to have the right shape face and the style must be right... Not every woman can pull it off , but those who do can look good. As a dyed in the wool lover of long hair , short can be a nice change... A 20 something girl came in my office once trying to sell me books. She had a nice shapely figure and dyed short haircut almost white blond... She was a stunner.. Pity I had to turf her out of my office ... Um.. Just joking.. and she managed to sell me some books I didn't even want...

I love having short hair! And I have to go get it cut again, but in my case, my hair is so thin that when I grow it out it just looks like a mess, and tangles easily... Long hair also gets in your eyes, gets in the way when going down, and can get really messy... but I keep it long enough to grab a handful :-D I'm a wash and wear, no frills kinda woman... I wear mine short out of practicality. But I don't get this link of short hair and lesbians.... I've known and few and they've had long hair... so meh. - Posted from rhpmobile

For your time given on this thread and for sharing your opinions about women who have very short hairstyle :-) Currently, I have really short hair cut myself due to the warmer weather and humidity in summer. I am a heat intolerant and I get heat rashes and all sorts of unpleasant reaction to the heat, which make me suffer with long hair. So, I had my long hair cut short a year ago and I cannot see that I want to grow my hair long again any time soon 😛 For me, physical appearance (that includes hair, face, body shape and genital) will go one day when age catches up to me. Hence, I value inner qualities and beauty more than the exterior looks in other people because, that is how I want to be treated by others. I don't care if people look at me and think of me as a lesbian or not, it is none of my business really and it is their ignorance and stupidity to make assumption about my sexuality, without knowing me lol - Posted from rhpmobile

but it's, imo, like make up. It can help overcome imperfections and as such often only works best with some pretty good looks. My preference is long hair but I have dated several women with short hair and even my wife got all hers hacked off once and I quite liked it, variety is the spice of life after all and I'm sure tons of you here agree with that statement ;) Obviously it does make it harder for us to control the lass in the bedroom, but where there is a will there is a way lol

It has been my own personal observation that women with short hair are usually, well, erm, let's say, over-opinionated. I haven't (so far) met a women with short hair, who isn't short of a very strong view on her own opinions. Same as short men like to 'overcompensate' by usually being overly aggressive towards taller people. I have found that women with longer locks generally tend to more feminine in their nature (not to be confused with apparent lesbianism). Just what I have observed, and I'm sure there will be the exceptions. Tall

I have long hair. When I'm between the legs of that gorgeous gal with the pixie cut, does that make me an apparent feminine lesbian? I agree with the fact I have a very femininely opinionated nature though. And short guys, are you going to take that lying down?

  • RHP

I really only look good with shorter hair and yes I have an opinion, that's what makes me interesting. However the correlation between short hair and strong personal opinions, is rather far fetched! I understand that you said its personal observation Tall, however when did you draw that conclusion and upon reflection, you made that association? We are lead to believe in the media that long hair is sexier however I love either. Even with my short hair I still manage to tantalise people with it and it often gets in the way! I've never had complaints when my head is between someone's legs whether my hair is too short ;) On a final note, Langton, there's enough hair here to keep me behaving ;) Mary xx

I have short hair cause my neck is another g-spot on my body that I want taken advantage of. Why hide it? Why make it hard to get to? Allow it to be easily touched and appreciated.Yes I am Bi- but when I started going short it wasn't because of the stigma attached to short hair, it is because I got the confidence as a person to try something new, which I have loved ever since and try new short styles.I now have an asymmetrical blonde concave; one side of my face has length to show femininity, the other side is short and spunky, another side of me. But best of all, at the back it has a little length from the top and shaved underneath, which still allows for a handful of grip while being fucked!!! Nothing like a little bit of domination from the other person when they want you to see them enjoying you.

What asinine hypocritical BULLSHIT. Maybe you are that judgmental, but a mullet wouldn't tell me anything about someone's character, level of intelligence or how opinionated they are. As I mentioned previously, (IMO) it is not just the hair, (short or type) it is a combination of that and the style, clothes, circumstances and other things. If I saw a guy with a mullet in a suit (or reasonable clothes), clean & tidy in an everyday situation, it would tell me very little about his character without getting to know him better (except for he has no taste in hair styles IMO). However, if I saw a guy with a mullet that had dirty dishevelled type hair, missing & black teeth, dirty bad fitting clothes, hadn't washed for awhile, and poor vocabulary (maybe with a bottle of bourbon in his hand) then I know it is not a 100% certainty, but the entire image would certainly tell me something about the person (not that there is anything wrong with it). A person is just a person (whether short, tall, colour, hair length, clothes etc) . But a person with a wild look in the eye, blood all over them, mad grin, big knife in their hand, and dead person at their feet, has most likely been up to no good. (just saying, it takes more than one thing to form an educated opinion)

That's ok, you don't have to buy anything I say. Live and let live. I'm lucky, because being a nurse means I meet new people of all walks of life every day. Whatever preconceived notions I had of people who look a certain way in the past, I was proven wrong quite quickly when starting this job over two decades ago. Short hair = Lesbian? Crude tats = Crim? Blond with fake boobs = Dumb?Shaved head = Neo Nazi?Mullet = Bogan? Super muscly = Super vain arsehole who's probably on roids? Possibly, but then I've also met a blond with fake boobs who was a Neo Nazi (no really) and and a few guys with bald heads who were just dumb. My patients more than anybody have taught me that looks ≠ the person inside.

Once upon a time.....a woman with very short hair was identified as a lesbian and a lot did it on purpose to indicate the fact it was a popular look in the punk days also skinheads and even nowdays lesbian women tend to have shorter hair if they are masculine orientated IE: ellen de generas but its a modern world and things have changed. I prefer long hair on a fem as it looks more stylish and elegant but can be annoying in bed when it gets flicked in your face..thank god for scrunchies and rubber bands. Its a matter of personal preference some do some don't but it shouldn't be used to judge a person its whats on the inside that really counts

I wish hair length was the uniform of lesbians. It would make it so much easier to suss out a woman's sexuality without awkward questions or embarrassing situations! Imagine if a woman had to have a certain hair length based on her sexuality...below shoulders for straight women, shorter than nape length for lesbians and somewhere in the middle for bisexual women. the length could indicate how far one way or the other she leaned. Imagine it.....oooooh, I AM imagining it *delicious shudder*. I would love to know which women I could flirt with and not have to wonder if she was just another straight woman playing at being risque and bi. Bi curious chicks experimenting until they settle down in a 'real' relationship with a man. I am a bisexual woman and have very long hair. I'm not lipstick or femme, I don't play those games. I just love my hair long...it's certainly never gotten in the way of any lesbian sexual acts. In fact, I've had fun trailing my hair down my lovers bodies and over their labia. Haven't had any complaints yet!

Re ! Short hair cuts really it's a question ? Firstly must say after 20 years a hair stylist I might have a good idea , it's about the woman her look . her attitude . Can she wear short hair and the shape of her skull ultimately determines how it suits . So a good hair stylist does this automatically . Then it's a good cut to suit then she's a new woman . So does short hair suit ? Shit yah usually they are fantastic . - Posted from rhpmobile

From the sport I'm in I have a lot of lesbian and verrrry Hetero-flexible female friends, and different countries tending to be more or less traditionally feminine in their hair styling. I don't think "short hair" is nearly close enough of a descriptor, there is a fair amount of differences possible while still remaining "short". I don't even see why it matters, the way people are being quick to say they'd never make that assumption it's almost as if they see "lesbian" as a pejorative. I tend to think that people make more assumptions based on outward appearances even if they don't say that they do, or even consciously realise they have. Those 'models' aren't necessarily a bad thing if they don't cause you to treat a person badly, and are not treated as immutable facts - rather than just impressions gained from looking at them.

It suited me and I liked knowing that to wear it that way told people that I wasn't conventional.... like my sexuality. So my hair is thick and sometimes it feels like a helmet! Apparently short hair style women means gay membership. Personally I don't like rigid principles which put everyone in drawers without in between connections. As a man I love short hair which suit much more to certain women, bringing out strongly their femininity and the pure curves of their fine beauty. That brings lot of character, sensuality, and a very personal touch which I definitely love.Is a man with long hair symbol of gay membership? I don't think so, so would be better to stop putting people in ranges where they do not necessarily belong.

Most men don't care about a woman's hair style, short or long. Just like we don't care that you might not have a perfect body either. We're just happy we might get to have sex with you. Men think differently to women. Which is why there is so much conflict between us. We're from Mars. You're from Venus.

(maybe I'm in a bad mood and reading this the wrong way) but is that meant to sound as sad as it does? as if we're little dogs grateful for anything tossed our way? Setting aside any notions of "short hair is for Mums and lesbians" - different hairstyles look good on different people and look like crap on others.

I love short funky hair on women and prefer it over long hair. Have never associated it with being a lesbian etc... I associate it with being more non-traditional/conforming and open mindedness/fun :) - Posted from rhpmobile

Yep, you took it the wrong way and no female should be referred to as anything tossed our way. You missed the point.

Quoting 'bigbrett10'We're just happy we might get to have sex with you. Sounded like men being grateful for sex tossed their way to me too, but glad that's not what you meant. Quoting 'bigbrett10' Yep, you took it the wrong way and no female should be referred to as anything tossed our way. To me it didn't read like you were insulting women but men in your first comment. (Though personally I think a woman shouldn't be referred to a "a female" either, but that's just me.)

Many years ago at uni I lived in a share house, one of the women in this house was quite alternative and had her head shaved, but she was certainly not gay. Perhaps that happening as a young adult helped me form my opinion but I have never associated short hair with sexual preferences. In fact I dont judge someone on any aspect if their physical appearance, talking to them is the best way to judge. That said, if you appear dirty, or you smell, I probably will not talk to you. Of course I am unlikely to care about your sexual preference either. - Posted from rhpmobile

I can see describing men as grateful was a bad word choice, so please let me re-write the sentence. Men are just happy that a woman might choose them and they might get to have sex with them. And they don't give a shit whether a woman's hair is long or short!
