  The list of bands Ive worked with is way too long. Covers 50's through to modern day. Highlights for me, would be lunch with Ozzy, and dinner with Sharon :)Embaressed to say I worked with a guy who had a number one hit at the time. Didnt know who he was (everyone else did though!). That also makes me happy, because I like what I like, and dont follow the music trends :) But, saying that, I wouldnt recognise half the people in my favourite ten bands... I dont get photos, autographs, etc. But I have an awesome little black book of phone numbers!Whilst I hate that pubs dont support local live music, it dont believe the x factor model is the best way to go. Hiring song writers, and fast tracking something that wasnt coming naturally, mostly doesnt work. I personally know a few of the "top three" musicians from various music reality shows. It boosted their careers at the time, but ultimately only one has been able to capitalise on it.... and still struggles to make the average wage.There are still some killer bands out there. Very difficult to find though :(

  Truth is pokies filled empty rooms, as agencies took the rights for bands to play in theses rooms. Bands got payed shit, and could only play if they joined the agencies. "Give it to the man" yep he took it alright. What do you think these talent agencies want? A cheap way to sign any potential talent and shut down what they don't see as the big bucks. It is a damn shame, as there is some real musos out there working nine to five, not playing much, we have been taken for that.X factor and such makes for good TV though.Mado

  I've gigged with Izzy Dye and Frankie J Holden.X-Factor for me just doesn't cut it, nor do any of the other shows in a similar vein. It's all about marketability - talent comes second. Not that I'm saying the contestants don't have talent, just that so many of the winning acts will just be a flash in the pan, and not have the longevity of those artists who are still going strong after 40-odd years.

  The beauty of these shows is the exposure is good, what people choose to do with it is paramount, it is hard work to get yourself out there, I am sure some just appear on TV and think well "I'm here! come and get me!" but it doesn't work like that.   Successful artists that didn't win have gone on to be very successful through hard work and diversity, they even had a career change, there are a rare few that have succeeded but not overnight successes. There were some - without naming names- that were given every chance and opportunity but they blew it and of course there were personal situations that held them back - it is a tough road travelled.   Jessica Mauboy, Guy Sebastian, Rikki Lee, Johnny Ruffo some have reinvented themselves by diversifying into acting etc, so it is partially exposure, a lucky break and hard work
