You're Late!

October 07 2015

We've all been late for something and we've all been left waiting for someone who's running late. What's the most bizarre reason for you running late? And how about the most bizarre reason for someone making you wait while he or she is running late? I'll post my stories in a comment below (otheerwisee this may be a ridiculously long post).

Got puked on by a patient. That was one of the few times I wished I wear scrubs in my job.

The creek on the way to town flash flooding and taking about 30 mins to go back below the bridge. Lol, we all stood around chatting while we waited. No mobile phone action happening as it was a dead zone for that then.

The White Rabbit I am never late..in fact I am often early..neurotic I know ...I had two friends who drove me nuts with their chronic lateness.I consider it rude not to consider others and how you are actually wasting their lives while they hang around waiting for you ...xx😁Freya

I have Selective Tardiness. incurable, definitely malignant. For business, I am never tardy. Not sure why but I suspect I do treasure the fact that I get paid for that time and if I dont show up, I dont eat and could result to homelessness. I love my food and bed too much. Fear of missing out. Personally, I can be late or not for anything else. I meet girlfriends for night out or friends for dinner/drinks, i could be late depending on the time of the day. I usually plan ahead of time to be early, double the time to get there. If I am running late, I would normally text the person so that they know I will show up. I have been 1 hour late for a first drinks meet once because the scheduled train home was cancelled twice. I texted him and the guy did not believe me until he called up Metro trains. I was surprised he still hung around for a drinks meet, he already had a couple or more and he was mellow by then. and the footy was on tv at the bar. Lol.

I hate being late for something and would rather be early. it annoys me when other people are late leaving me wonder what is happening without a phone call

I was 25 mins late for a date after having to find my cow and walk her home. They looked rather dubious until I showed them a picture of my pet cow, Trixie, who has an uncanny ability to know when the electric fence is off and I need to be somewhere!

Freya........I nominate you to try and transfer some of your punctuality to Lilyorchid and Ozboy at the next meet and greet (so disappointed I missed the last Melbourne one, by the way). Here are mine: My boss's initial reaction was WTF when I called and advised my cats had taken my glasses overnight and hidden them so I needed to find them (my glasses, not the cats) before leaving for work. I was also late handing in my weekly time sheet once when working in aged care in home care. We were required to hand in our time sheets on Friday afternoon and, carrying out a domestic service at a clients house, I needed to use the bathroom. When I tried to leave the bathroom, the door handle came off in my hand. My client was very hard of hearing and couldn't hear me calling me, the window was locked shut with the key and the key wasn't there. My phone was sitting on top of my folder, on the kitchen table. I was in there for an hour and a half before the client opened the door (to use the bathroom himself). He forgot I was even there as he had dementia. It was two minutes to five which was just enough time to contact the office and ask them not to lock the door and explain why I hadn't been in yet. That was the beginning of a bad week (I also had to go to hospital after having a venetian blind land on my head and my week ended with discovering a client dead on her bedroom floor). Early this year, I had a client turn up for an appointment five hours late. It was the day after Australia day and he had a few (or maybe more) drinks with his friends and passed out. He told me he woke up that morning with "Happy Australia Day" written across his forehead in permanent marker. Well.....his forehead did look red from the scrubbing and he was looking a little worse for wear.

I was late one time when a man climbed the Harbour Bridge as an act of protest (custody dispute if I remember correctly) and the whole thing got closed down. Glad he was ok though.

I'm NEVER late and have never been when meeting a lady for 'First Meet' or 'Down to Business' (I assume that's primarily what we're talking about). So, I have no story for myself as I've always been at the meeting place or home before or on time. I also message 10 minutes away so they know I'm near. I have been kept waiting for 10 minutes or so a couple of times (which is OK, I'm not too uptight about it...). I have been kept waiting once for 30 minutes, and she messaged with no reason and I didn't concern myself with why, as she had the decency to message and was there in the 30 mins. The only other time, she was about 45 minutes late, and gave no excuse or reason other than an apology when she arrived... which I happily accepted. Shit, what do you do? Tell her she's rude and inconsiderate and have her walk out? (Got us over a barrel sometimes... Whaaaaa!!!). Anyway, after we established that we were 'into' each other, I asked what had kept her... Then she apologized and said that she'd had a fight with her daughter. If true, maybe she was upset and all flustered and just didn't think of me waiting and wondering...
