My opinion is that this, along with all other religious beliefs, edicts and commandments are based on some (usually) old guys desire to control the behavior of the rest of the population. In less educated times it was easy to wrap crud like beliefs into a religion because no-one knew any better, or had the means to prove otherwise. In todays enlightened times, few people even bother with any kind of religion and many that do, act piously for an hour or two on a Sunday (or whatever day they go to their church, mosque, synagogue, whatever) and live their hodonistic lives like the rest of us for the rest of week. Time and time again the religious "leaders" of all persuasions have shown that their personal rule is "Do as I say, not as I do". Too many seem to be interested in controlling the gullible and pushing their own agenda (usually filling their own back pocket). So back to Taoism, exactly what if any evidence is their that retaining your semen gives you any feeling of well-being. Personally, all it gives me is "blue-balls" and a feeling of immense frustration - not quite the Taoist ideal :)

Sure, my man fucks me without cumming sometimes, just for the enjoyment of it. But its not a zen thing, its just fucking! Lol I always get confused when people try to elevate sex to a spiritual experience. Fucking is fucking is fucking, in my mind. I think we sometimes want it to be something else so we feel less depraved. But spirituality can be earthly and connected to the body and physical experience, too - so why not just enjoy sex for exactly what it is? If you aren't having "an amazing time" and "feelings of wellbeing and ecstacy" you are doing something wrong, imo. nadi xx

Not what I expected but fair comments. Zen is not Taoism (regardless of the fact that I wrote of them in the same post). I also believe that Taoism is not a religion but a set of many principles and concepts to live by or resort to if we feel lost or need a solution for something. I believe it's like a GP for some Chinese. Though I like some of what I read about many things, including Taoism, Zen, Buddhism, Christianity, capitalism, popular contemporary thought, doesn't mean I adopt it as my "bible" or religion. Believe me, I'm as much a contrarian as the next person (that must be obvious by now). Though I posted this on an open forum, I'm really only interested in hearing from people who understand what I'm talking about and/or have practised it. That's me. Of course I can't stop, and nor would I want to, people from debating the merits of religion and stuff (even though Taoism is not a religion). That's right, I also wanted to reply that I don't wish to experiment with this because simple fucking no longer interests me. It's not an alternative, though it could be from what I've read (a life-long practise among other practices), but merely a "spice". Let's face it, if none of us needed various spices we would not be here seeking anything other than missionary intercourse ever Sunday at 9pm with our life-long partner of the opposite sex.

IF one is reading this book (Taosim, or Karma Sutra, or any other title that refers to the arcane arts of sexual union, which hopefully helps you to enable to reach such a state where you could almost 'touch God") , one has NO EFFING idea how to have sex :P Mind you.. what could get any complex to having sex? to a man, its just a simple matter of finding the right bleedn hole and stick it in. Try explain the in-depth art of sexual gratitude to them and they rather be at the nearest watering hole with a few of their mates... And from what i've read about Taoism, i guess that musta have been written by a dude thousands of years ago, fustrated about the side effects of sex with a woman (or possible lots of woman, or maybe he had lotsa goats in his village?) that he decided to report his findings and warn other men. Possibly so, but who are we to beleive what the bloke know about these things? even he's dead long ages ago? ITs the same with the bible.. do we beleive any of that shit in it now? lmao (oh btw, im a devout irish catholic believer.. so dont bother bible bashing me) I mean.. Lose's life force to a woman when ejectulates inside her? SheeeEEEeeesh.. what utter horseshit :P The art of sex is indeed about lifeforce, but one cannot lose nor gain from it. What can be lost, and gained from it.. is the energy that drawn from by a person. This makes you ended up feel tired, or energenic. But it doesnt make it lose your lifeforce a bit! I mean,.. if this is true, than the porn kings be dead at the age of friggn 30! whilst the porn queens live a long healthy life.. my god, i could babble on for a month of sundays about this claptraps.. but i cant be stuffed.. lol and oh.. merry mehmas to you all! :P Sparty

Hi Mammalian, I know exactly what you are talking about and I believe in it wholeheartedly. Im a little surprised at the responses to this post. Would have thought the so called sexually enlightened types that frequent sites like this would be right into this sort of thing but anyway.... My partner and I often practise intercourse without him cumming. He claims it energises him rather than tires him and then when he does finally cum its far more intense. Things like synchronising your breathing, eye contact and other tantric acts also help to make the whole experience more connected, grounded and magical. I see lovemaking as a dance, sure sometimes its just a fuck, but on those occassions when you're both in the right mood, the moon is full and sacred and there is a deep physical, mental and spiritual connection I definitely think there is something more happening than two beings having sex. My last partner was a very creative man who had a very different way of looking at the world. He spoke of a love/sex ritual. About acheiving enlightenment through the ultimate connection. The ritual was based on lovemaking as a form of communication and as connection through means much much bigger than us as human beings. A magic spell if you like. We achieved this heightened sense several times and it was a truly amazing and mindblowing experience. I can remember actually crying because it was so intense. There is a book Mammalian called sexual secrets- its a great book discussing Taoism and Sapphic practises and male and female energy and the rituals I am talking about. If youre interested I can find out who wrote it for you. Anyway in short I feel sex can be a casual fuck but it can also be about energy and a meeting of two bodies dancing the most intimate dance they can. mmmmmmmm Goldy x

How sad that there are so many people who haven't been fortunate enough to have experienced sex from the soul and the subsequent spiritual enlightenment that comes from it. Sure I enjoy a good soul less fuck along with everyone else....but to not experience the "more" of sexual intercourse....I think that's a great shame. As far as religion and sex goes? I know that human beings (specifically powerful church officials) over the centuries have tried to control sex and repress it....but I believe that we have been created by a loving, sentient being...not in 7 days but over eons and time. I don't think it's any mistake that this same being (God, Goddess...Creator) included the fantastic clusters of nerve endings in our sexual organs that bring us such intense pleasure. We are created to enjoy sex and connect with another human being in this way. Be careful not to confuse man-made religion with the larger possible reality. Mammalian I have experimented with tantric sex and other forms of eastern sexuality....great stuff! I have learned how to delay my orgasm through breathing and the explosive release when I finally cum is mind blowing! I'd much rather one of those that leave my body shaking instead of multiple little others that don't. Eye contact during orgasm is essential with this kind of sex....that connection is paramount to the intensity of the orgasm. Enjoy exploring! Poss xxx

Thank you beautiful ladies. Goldy I would very much like the name of the author thanks; I'm interested in following this through. Aha! I just realised you both mentioned the word "enlightenment" and I was about to write, asking you what you meant by it and it clicked *snap* ... I wrote about a heightened state. I was not speaking of enlightenment. ;) It's all coming clear to me now, peoples' responses thinking I might be some "spiritual" wanker. I am spitirual and can be a wanker but never a spiritual wanker. I don't fully understand or remember the intention of Taoist sexual pratices but I do know my own. I do wish to experience "higher" states though not in comparison to others; only in comparison to myself and usual experiences. I also wanted to clarify that it is not cumming inside a woman that causes a man to lose his "Chi" but simply cumming; whether it's wanking or a wet dream etc. I understand that we men wank and enjoy cumming when having sex because we have an abundance of energy, which if not utilised and spent...becomes tension. I think it's a symptom of an increasingly sedentry lifestyle. Apparently maximum time for recreation and greatest distance from dirt and sweat in ones' work and life is a sign of success. Hence a build up of natural energy (and tension if that energy is not spent).

Regarding the act of retaining one's semen for their wellbeing. The BDSM practice of submissive men being forced into long term chastity, is not advisable on medical grounds, as worst case scenario is that the testicles become congested such that even prostate milking is to no avail. When this becomes painfully unbearable, castration is usually the remedy. I agree that enjoying prolonged periods of intercourse without cumming has it's advantages, though it is not uncommon for a lady to feel robbed if she cannot make her man ejaculate, and either witness the sight of it, or experience the feeling within.

I've read the "Tao Te Ching" and the "Teachings of Chuang Tzu", met in person (in Canada, which was funny coz he wanted to take me canoeing on the Great Lakes, but I think he liked the paddle more...lol..) a true bdsm submissive who used a cock piece to prevent ejaculation and also I was celibate myself for 5 years. My opinion is that witholding is a great way to explore yourself and can really teach you to be a great lover. I'm not sure why, I think maybe because you are not focused on yourself? SnS

Eunuch. That's a very good point about cumming. I remember the book I read - I THINK it was "The Tao of Health Sex and Longevity" recommended that (during a very specific practise - not to be done half heartedly) the man does in fact ejaculate every ten times or so that he and his partner come together. Goldy. Thanks for the details on the book. I gather you and your partner have a great sex life. ;) Keep it up.
