I haven't but when I had my boobs done I did lots of research on overseas options as well as domestic. I personally think that the few dollars that you may save are not worth the risk of having major surgery overseas. It's all a walk in the park except when there are any complications (oh and there are), that's when things get ugly. I chose a surgeon in Melbourne and had surgery at the Frances Perry House and my experience was pretty good. - Posted from rhpmobile

My Doctor had his teeth all fixed with crowns etc he was quoted $45 thousand on Australia and $12 thousand in Thailand with accommodation , he said it was top class away for 10 days was very happy , unforunalutly a few weeks later he knocked his front tooth out so went back with full garantee but had to pay for his flights - Posted from rhpmobile

Yep, I've heard it's all good when it goes well- but when it goes wrong ---YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN..! In a foreign country, shiiiit- I wouldn't want it to be me ..... My cosmetic surgeon is on the Gold Coast (Dr Ces Colagrande) he runs Clinica Colagrande in Main Beach G.C. Find him on the interweb-thingy. Great website & great after care. (A stripper I know went there & speaks highly of the team) best of all, it's here in Oz. -Just do your due diligence-

I'm still very nervous but sick of talking abot it. Wish me luck.

While it is cheap to have these surgeries done overseas, one need to be very mindful of what to do if complications do occur. Because complications post operations may occur even when done by some of our top local surgeons. - Posted from rhpmobile

My mates daughter had her boobs done in Thailand and she loves them. Had no problems and she highly recommends Thailand. When I had me knees done (in Perth) the professor who did them said he teaches at the hospital in Bangkok as well as here in Perth, so they learn the same procedures as here. You can get medical insurance in Australia for medical procedures in Thailand

A close friend of mine had her teeth done. The surgery went well and the results were great, but when she returned she had a severe infection. It took a lot of time to find an Australian doctor to help her, and no private health cover would cover any of the work. I really think it is hit and miss - just make sure you do your research, check certifications and cover all bases. There are risks with all surgery no matter where it is done, but some are higher risk than others. - Posted from rhpmobile

I had my boobs done in Thailand three years ago now and Mr bay had quite extensive teeth work done. Mr Bay saved an exorbitant amount of money going to Thailand (including flights/accommodation/food). The place he had his teeth done was a 7 floor dedicated dental hospital. He had a great experience, and not once did he doubt the skill of the people doing the work. Three years on and no issues. Like most people have mentioned research and checking is the key to any safe overseas procedure. I had no issues with my boobs, although now with the clinic on the Gold Coast the price for implants has come down considerably. Again, I spent a good six months talking to people online about experiences both in Australia and in Thailand/Puket when looking to do my boobs and each side had their good experiences and their bad. Mr Bay and I didn't opt for the "No Frills cheap as chips" option as there were clinics/hospital that were cheaper and available. As ST John Mentioned, a lot of the doctors actually train here in Australia. My surgeon was trained in Sydney they go back there for the sheer volume of people that come through. With any major surgery, not everyone will come out of it perfectly fine with no infections/issues. Everyone is different. Simple as that. A lot also comes down to how you look after yourself as well. If you go overseas and attempt to have a drinking holiday as well as a surgical holiday you are going to have a bad time! Which some of the girls in the group i went with had. They clearly advise you to stop drinking well before hand and not during a month after. Some people chose to do what they want. At the end of the day, all we can offer is our experiences thus far, this doesn't mean your experience will be exactly the same. Weigh up your options, do your research, and most of all be comfortable with your decision is the best advice i think any of us can give :)

There are two things to consider with any surgery, the experience of the doctor with the operation and the experience of the hospital with post operative care. There are lots of cheap boob jobs out there, see how many of the owners have lost the symmetry of the breast, have nipples in odd directions or a degree of feeling loss. The average hospital in Australia has a lower level of post op infections than the best so hospitals in many parts of the world.

Dont got cheap on the airfare - especially on the return leg. Sounds unusual I know but I have had to have a surgery in Australia -not cosmetic but medical- and fly overseas -long haul- just 5 weeks afterwards. Doctors were fine with allowing me to fly and I felt fit and ready in about 2weeks but gosh it was painful...stiches hurt during a flight they might no longer hurt on ground level but they will once airborne....then the added complexity of risk of blood cloths - it can be a dangerous mix. IF you are planning on doing a surgery overseas I recommend choosing your return flight carefully, checking whether it would be a good idea to take some medication to avoid DVT (you will have fresh scars and scars go with blood clothing issues) - this can save you issues a couple of years down the line..
