Grab a couple of travel guides and read up on the places you want to go to. Lonelyplanet guides are a good start. Also get online and google "travel guides" and flick through a couple.Be careful about sites that people send reviews to. I checked out several before I went on my cruise and expected the food and the service to be lousy. I was pleasantly surprised to find that both were excellent and I am now trying to shed the extra kilos I put on lol.

Canadians are beautiful characters. Rarely meet an arsehole from Canadia. :p If anyone was like us Aussies and kiwis, it would have to be Canadians.... aye. Guaranteed good time. Go to Europe to see all that old shit at least once in your life. I really loved travelling in Italy. A lot of smiling faces. I'm sure if I spoke Italian I'd have had a blast! It's not that most people can't speak English, but it would have been so much better to immerse myself in that culture if I had I learnt to speak Italian. Plenty of time for that. My goal is to speak Manderin this year. Hugs Stalky

Stalky, I can immerse you in Italian you only need to ask :p Littered, Europe is huge so it all depends on what you would like to see? And your budget. Spain & Portugal are fantastic and the coast of Croatia is stunning if you are on a bit if a budget. And all those places are lots of fun and gorgeous! Otherwise Greece islands are nice too. If you want amazing cities with lots of culture and amazing buildings and history... I love Paris, Edinburgh, London, Prague, Florence & Rome, Barcelona.... People say Berlin is amazing but I haven't been there in more than 15 yrs so I can't comment. I don't know you or what you are into... Don't do C***tiki tours they are just a huge piss up and you spend 5 minutes in each place. I have been on a few group tours and they can be lots of fun if you pick the right one. Oops how did that happen... Was still thinking about immersing Stalky in pink bits and got all confused. Hehe My prefered way to travel is to get the Lonely Planet travel around at my own pace. However, group tours are good if you are a bit nervous going to a new places for the first time or you have limited time. Traveling on your own takes up a lot of time. You spend lots of time researching things such as how you should get around, what should I see and where to stay. Sorry I am blabbing. xx

Its cheap and its a good way to learn about a lot of different cultures, and also languages. Canada is very pretty depending on what time you go, the fall is the best time   Europe First :) but do not try to see it all in one go   Croatia is also a fantastic place to go on holidays is so cheap the food is great , the people are lovely and you can drink the water and eat all the food and its safe. the beaches are crystal clear

Europe is cheap Tuscanred??? It all depends on where you go, some countries are very expensive.1moretime... are you serious? Thailand can certainly be lovely but I don't think littlered is wanting to go and sit in a resort, and Phuket is just a beach holiday. OMG... people that never leave the resort.. shaking my head over here. :(xxMeeka

Quoting 'Meeka100'Europe is cheap Tuscanred??? It all depends on where you go, some countries are very expensive. I'd say go to Europe now, it's a must see and what better time to do it than when the Euro is so shite! . I agree with everything Stalky said about Canadians, and Canada is a beautiful country to visit, but it's one country. Europe is like another world! . Also agree with Meeks about not going near a Contiki tour. When we went, I went out of my way to book a tour with the oldest likely passengers possible, so we would see more and spend less of it in an alcoholic haze and am so glad I did it that way. . You can't go wrong with either destination, but Europe would always get my vote for sure! . Flirty x

...where the strong trade rate favors the trip. Central America comes to mind...but then again, it always seems to do that for me. Remarkable and historic cultures there...fabulous foods...not a snob or a knob amongst them...and beaches that seem to go on forever. | Canada...they have moose and good beer, give Europe a few years and you'll be able to buy your very own small country. | You could just stay here and look at Google Earth with friends.

I say Europe... I love the food, the common sense, the not being able to speak a language but trying - sure I hear there's some sort of French-Canuck thing, but that's not the same level of confusion and hand-waving... surely? I can come home from Europe and feel like going straight back again. And as has been pointed out - what better time to go... the exchange rate is great, when I went a year ago everything was so cheap, so much cheaper than Australia ... factor in an exchange rate that's 10 cents better again than when I went and I'm wondering why people go to Bali.

Definitely Europe!!   Canada is great but Europe is soooo much better.   If you don't have alot of time a tour is better as you see alot of Counties in a short time but if you do have a lot of time, travel around yourself. I did both. Yes, Meeka is right. Contiki tours can be a drink fest but only at night. You soon recover overnight and you can see the sights the next day. Great for making friends (Australian, Kiwi, American and Canadian) After the 3 week tour, I backpacked everywhere and met up with alot of the friends that were on the tour in their home land. (Free accomodation. yaaay. lol.) Germany was a surprise. The people are very friendly. Trying to talk Italian is fun. The sights are incredible. Riding a Vespa around Rome is awesome. Throughout Europe, don't eat in the usual tourist spots. Go the back alleys.,...... lol. You will find quaint cafes and restaurants that the locals eat at and they are much cheaper. See Canada when you are older. PARTY NOW! lol.
