our health....lets be vigilant

sex

this is a sex site slash dating site slash chat site.... its all about having fun.... but i would like to bring up a serious topic.... and that is our health and the health of those we love/care about. 2 things i would like to discuss here..... regular prostate checks for men and pap smears for women. yeah yeah..it may be uncomfortable and perhaps a bit embarrassing..but hey...wats 5 minutes of your time to ensure that everythings ok compared to avoiding the check ups and having to deal with a life threatening disease. i have a friend who did not have regular pap smears. she only went recently because her 'ex' returned to her after being with another woman. my friend went to see if she was disease free. instead ...she was told she had cervical cancer. she has had an operation to remove her cervix and part of her uterus. thank goodness it was caught relatively early. she is alive and well. had she gone for her 2yearly checks however....it would have been picked up much earlier and she would still be able to have children. prostate cancer is hard for me to deal with..... my dad died of prostate cancer in 1975. i was four years old. medical science has excelled since then....and a simple test can pick up any abnormalities. for goodness sake men and women...get yrselves checked and tell yr loved ones to get checked too. so simple and yet so effective. thanks ppls XX KL

I agree KL. Checks are so important and breast checks for women too. A freind of mine was in WA on holidays and found a lump. The doctor told her to get it checked out straight away when she got home and when she had it checked here in Tas, the doctor was a bit ambivalent about the seriousness of the lump, so my friend left it before seeking treatment despite the Dr in WA telling her to get onto it striaght away. She has had a journey where things have been touch and go and then she rallies. She has supported other women with breast cancer. She remains positive and also knows she may not have long. So good one for raising this topic KL. Cheers WN
