... so where did you guys meet?

October 29 2008

ok so you are out and about with your "new friend" from RHP all of a sudden you bump into a friend that you obviously did not meet on RHP and they pop the question to you both (because they see that you are both into each other) "where did you guys meet?" how do you respond to this question? do you try avoid the whole "we met on the internet" thing (there seems to be a bit of a stigma out there about this) or what? Have you already been through this experience? what did you do and how did it turn out??

"i met the whore/slut/bastard on red hot pie" or if that doesn't work, just say you met her out and about... you eventually had to meet the person in real life somewhere (even if it was at her place)

We met at CI. That has been an interesting one to explain to people. "Oh yeah, we were both at a swingers club and got it on and decided to take it further". Yeah, No. That doesn't go down to well over polite dinner conversation. We've opted for the tried and true, "we met through friends". (kind of true) However if I'm feeling brave I have piped up and told the truth. Surprisingly enough most people think it's a great story (not sure if they all believe me) and have asked to go there next time we go.

seriously Unless your family or friends are really close to you and accept pretty much anything without judgement then you don't really have much of a choice. RHP and chatting in general is still frowned upon by the general public because there is no real understanding of the service RHP provides and the reason people come here. Frankly I just say I met her/him/them at a party or through friends that usually satisfies anyone's curiosity.

i get a kick out of saying this is a RHP/myspace buddy... nothing like scaring your mates with your out there attatude. :-P there are worse stigmas that internet meets.. i tend to be much more imbarrased about my bald head, dr martens and union jack tatto on my fore head. LRE (OI!)

We met at Deltas swingers club in Perth. We were both unaware that we were on RHP. Grav was meeting up with a fellow friend /RHPer that night. No i didnt steal him, lol. We hooked up a month later after chatting in the WA chat room and msn. When people ask we tell the the truth. Great story for the grandkids hey. Most people say, "oh really". Secretly, there probably on here too, lol. My 2nd husband i met through an Adelaide paper advertisement. My ex father-in-law had a dating business, were your matched through your star signs..call Starmates. We were together 7yrs and have 1 child. My 3rd long term partner and i met thru the Sunday times in Meeting Place. We were together 7 yrs also and had 2 kids. Most of the people im friends with now are from the internet, with only a handful who have never been on any sort of chat site. Even my eldest kids know about the site. Always been openly honest but thats how its worked best for us. My best mates mum is curently in Qld, for a week. She met a guy through a site and he sent her the airfare over. She is 63 yrs old, a great lady and good on her we say. Shes having a blast. Certainly is the way of future dating. Leelee xxx

When asked about meeting one woman I used to reply 'In a park' because thats where we arranged to meet. As you can imagine it usually leads to more questions.

It is true a lot more people are hooking up over the net. We found each other through RHP and Lavalife. We started out as fuk buddies and are now engaged but still play with others. We tell our friends how we met and our friends get it if they dont, then too bad. Nothing to be ashamed of at all everyone has sex dont they? just how to find and look is up to each of us.

We say say give em' all guns blazing and say "Yeah, we met on a swingers site, started shagging, it's been awesome shagging too by the way so we thought what the hey, and where still goin at it!!" After you've walked away it's always a good giggle thinking about how their jaw dropped straight to the ground and they had a "they know I shagged a cat" look on their face!! :D

I met my ex off the internet. It lasted 7 years. I had heaps of people say that they thought it was really romantic that we met and loved each other so much that we flew from Adelaide to Brisbane and visa versa. But we met on a music chat site... so I guess that's a bit easier to explain! :)

A lot of people meet at parties, off the net, at bars, through friends, at work, etc... and the common factor is that these are all Catalysts. In your case, RHP. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how you met. I've made some good friends off the net over the years, and there is definately nothing wrong with a modern way of meeting. As for meeting off a music site, that's a good one as were here to 'make music' right? ;p
