I would be curious to know a bit about the post that made you cry, and want to share with us. To me it seems to lack authenticity, and is reminiscent of those American tear jerker type of posts.

I'm told one of the Thai divers drowned after running out of oxygen, and that the coach and a couple of the boys are sick. The water isn't expected to recede until November! And a downpour is expected... I am so scared for these people, Peachy

perth airport tunnel accident, construction union has reported concerns about bad pipe brackets yet it just fell on deaf ears. now the rescused construction worker is fighting for his life. it really shits me to hell how safety ends up taking a backseat to project timelines, costings, and not wanting to ruffle feathers. this is another ridiculous accident that most likely could have been prevented and will be interesting to see what comes out from the worksafe investigation

They hope to get the last 4 boys and the coach out today, but they won't be out of the woods even then, having to wait to see they all stay healthy and cope with their return to the world considering their immune system might be compromised. The film makers are circling already... Peachy

Quoting 'PeachySxynIknoIt' This is a picture of my daughter the night before her Dad took his own life. 4-years old and her first night of ballet class. Full of joy. Full of innocence. The worst thing that had ever happened to her was dropping her ice cream cone at the county fair. The next day her Dad waved goodbye to her as we drove off to our play date and then he got in his car and went and shot himself on my Grandpa's land.I had to sit on her little bed with her and her fuzzy stuffed animals and baby dolls and I had to tell my 4-year old that her Dad had died. She stared at me and then said, "Mama? What does die mean?" It took days, weeks for her to fully understand.......even after she seen him in his coffin.....that he was not ever coming home and that's what die means. If you are having suicidal thoughts and you have children? Your children will not be better off without you. Your kids need you. Your death will take away some of their innocence. They will have nightmares. They will wake up sweating and screaming. Look at their photo and figure out a way to keep yourself alive on this earth. Don't drop a load of pain, guilt, abandonment, trauma, and grief on their shoulders. They are so little. They need you. Stay. If for nothing else.......if for no one else......stay for them. Find your fight and get yourself the help you deserve so that you can care for your children. This girl knows things other kids don't know. She knows how her Dad died. I told her the truth....not the gory and scary details.....but just the plain and simple truth that he hurt himself so that he would die. She knows what suicide is and openly says the word when most adults shy away from it.She also knows that he was a very loving, kind, and good person who made a very wrong choice. She knows that he was human, that he was sick, and that he was terrified and she has deep compassion for him because she too knows what it's like to be scared. She knows that he loved her to the moon and back a billion times and he still does.Telling her the truth opened up conversations about mental health, love, emotions, strength, grief, God, spirituality, and more. She doesn’t judge him or blame him.....only loves him.She forgives her Dad.She knows that he didn't leave because he didn't love her but because he had no fight left in him to stay. She misses him.......we all do.....every day. It’s a soul deep missing when a child loses a parent. She barely remembers him.She still loves him.......very, very much. She will grow up not knowing what it's like to have her very own Dad to protect her, laugh with her, care for her, and love her.If she grows up someday, gets married, and has children of her own? That will be the first time since she was 4 that she sees first hand in her own home what a Dad does.I look at this photo and my heart hurts so much for this little girl. This girl is now 7 and she is happy again. She is joyful, smart, kind-hearted, loving, adventerous, compassionate, and the bravest girl I have ever met in my entire life. So, you. The guy who is thinking of taking his life. The guy who is sitting at the dinner table right now with his kids and wife eating tacos and you're smiling and you're laughing but in your mind you are planning your own death for the next day?I'm asking you to stay.I'm asking you to tell your wife your plans.I'm asking you to close your eyes and remember being a little kid. Remember how much you loved and needed both of your parents.Fight for your life. You belong here on earth. You are worthy and so, so loved.Your family needs you.You belong here on a Tuesday night eating tacos with your kids and your wife laughing at inside jokes only a family understands. You deserve to watch your children grow up.You deserve their hugs and kisses and giggles. They need you.Maybe pleading with you to stay on this earth won't work. Maybe it's not enough.....maybe you'll still go. I don't know if spreading this love and pleading will work because I never got that chance to do that with my husband. But maybe it will help you. Maybe it will help just one of you and that's why my children and I share our story. So, you. Please stay.Yes, they will survive and move forward in their lives if you leave but they won't be better off without you. They will forever be missing a piece of themselves....a piece of their heart. Thanks Peachy, 👍Mr. urn. .

. Ah, was looking for this thread yesterday, Saturday, morning, however, only searched 7 pages back, not 10. Can't have been anything of note in the news during 2019. 😁😉Laura Tingle wrote a good piece, well, she so often does, doesn't she, on the ABC News website yesterday. She asked if Scott Morrison had had his George W. Bush - Hurricane Katrina moment, re his response to the bushfire crisis. When Hurricane Katrina hit, Bush was on holiday and it took him two days to respond, then flying over the disaster area. The photo from that flight, he now acknowledges, showed him as detached and distant from the devastation below. . Morrison, of course, went on holiday to Hawaii. The idea that the position of Prime Minister is like other jobs and can therefore afford a holiday, regardless of circumstance, is laughable. Tingle also notes the PMs defence of his decision to holiday and his constant rhetoric regarding the preparedness of services and government, showed poor judgement. Likewise, something I've been talking to people about, Morrison's deference to the States and other bodies, seemed to show lack of leadership. To me, it seemed like the tail was wagging the dog. That tail repeatedly said or appeared out of it's depth, due to fires that defied the computer modelling. I mentioned in another thread, the othe day, Morrison needed to show leadership. It took until Saturday afternoon for the man consumed by marketing, to begin to show lerdership, but really, this was after pressire to do so and to save face. By rights, the action taken today, should have been taken some time ago. We can only wonder how many lives may have been saved, how many homes, how many businesses, how many animals et cetera, how much vegetation. There really should be an investigation into the response and the preparedness, especially given the predictions of a horror fire season. . The PM said aircraft wil be leased, although 2 will take a week before deployment, the other 2, a fortnight. Really, while the coalition were rushing through Defence spending prior to the election, they should have thought about the purchase (note, not lease), of firefighting aircraft and greater investment in ground vehicle assets. Likewise, remuneration for RFS volunteers. They aren't baking cakes, they're puting their lives on the line to defend life and property. . Equally perplexing, is the decision of the NSW Emergency Services Minister taking his vacation over the last couple of weeks. I remember him saying in a press conference, once the PMs Hawaiian holiday had finally been brought to a close, that he wouldn't be cancelling his holiday. I read late Saturday, that he now regrets that decision. Here in the house, over the last couple of weeks, I've said, "And where is the Emegency Services Minister?" and the kids have eagerly replied, "Paris." Even kids in primary school get it. . I was also surprised to see in the news, Morrison physically manhandle a woman, then an RFS man, forcing them to shake his hand, even though both had shown a reluctance to do so, to the point of not wishing to. Scott Morrison showed a great deal of disregard for the wishes of these two people and an incredible sense of etitlement, in forcing those people to shake his hand. Later, when questioned abot his time in Cobargo, and the response of the locals, he said, "I don't take it personally." Therein lies part of the problem, when your actions are inappropriate or you show poor judgement and that deficit is brought to your attention, you do need to look at your actions and response and take it personally, how will the lesson be learned otherwise? . Is belated leadership enough to spare Morrison? Time will tell. However, he has used up any goodwill he had in much of the public's view of him. . Mr. urn. .

Well, sorry I'm a few hours late to call it today, however, I've read something from Scotty, in Marketing. Scotty has pulled up the laptop and made a home video, we all have at some time, haven't we. Anyway, in Scotty's one, he tells us how clever he is and it's a cracker, because, he's included some catchy, royalty free, music called "Live Tropical Beat", probably something he heard on holiday in Hawaii, I guess? Anyway, never one to miss a trick, Scotty has included a Donate button, not sure where it's gone now? I'm sure it was a worthy cause though, let me just check which group impacted by the fires he wants us to donate to, ah, The Liberal Party. There must be some fires at this party I guess? However, I will have to take marks off for using images of people he has been expressly told he can't use. Join me again some other time for What in Oz is Scotty in Marketing Helping Himself With Today.Mr. urn. .

As always, there's been a great deal in the news the last few days, however, as Scotty in Marketing knows, presentation is everything, unless we can be made to second guess what was been reported in the first place. However, I digress, back to something interesting I came across this week, which surprised me. Scotty was in the playground with his friend Joshy. He looked around the playground, saw a billboard across the road that was calling for bushfire donations, a not-for-profit was receiving goods to be sent to those caught in the fire affected regions and he saw a street march, with people holding signs saying "Sack Scomo". Who ever he is? Then another kid came up and said it would be great to collect money from the kids lined up at the tuck-shop, and give it to the kids in the playground affected by the fires. However, he thought it would be far to difficult to collect and distribute fairly, so off he went. Then Scotty had an idea, "Joshy, I just had an idea and it's like totally mine and how I always think. Anyway, I want to do something for these kids affected by the fires, I want you to collect some money from EVERY KID in the playground and bring it back here to me, then I'll give it to the kids who've lost homes and like their parents are out of work because the business got burnt." Joshy thought it a great idea and dutifully went off and collected the money, then he returned. "Here it is Scotty, there's heaps, but I left the kid selling textas alone. Hey Scotty, there's so much here, do you think we can keep some, you know, to put towards those water pistols we want?" Scotty saw all the money and knew there was enough to take some out, "yeah Joshy, put a bit from each pile aside." Then Scotty walked over with the money and said "kids affected by the fires, here is something I've done to help you, here is a stack of money, and it was like totally my idea. "Now the kids were grateful, however, one was very good at maths and he quickly worked out that, given all that was collected, there should have been more for each kid. So he questioned Scotty and Joshy about this."Ah well," said Scotty, "there were some admin costs." Now the kid said he'd tell the teacher if ALL of the money wasn't given to the kids from the fire ravaged regions. So Scotty reluctantly gave ALL of the promised money to the kids. Well, Joshy wasn't happy, "But what about us and our water pistols?" "My focus has always been those kids Joshy and you better remember that, especially when you post about all I've done." Mr. urn. .

Scotty from Marketing, you bloody genius! This morning I read something on the ABC News website that proved to me what a clever kid Scotty is, he already knows he is. It seems the job created for him at Tourism Australia and his new job as PM are almost one and the same. . At Tourism Australia, Scotty oversaw the "Where the bloody hell are you" marketing campaign. Upon winning the election, to become PM, instead of carefully stealing it from the sitting PM, who he supported the day before, he yelled "How great is Australia ", I won't even use a question mark, as I don't think he meant it as a question. . In both instances, he told us, Australia is great and goodness knows, while promoting his belated response to the bushfire crisis, he's told us umpteen times how great he , sorry, Australia is. And today his push to promote Australia became evident. On the search engine Google, interest in Australia rose by 340% in the first week of January. You can't buy that type of publicity. But, you can, Not buy it. Yes, by Not listening to fire chiefs in early 2019 and disregarding their advice, for what was forecast to be a dreadful and catastrophic fire season, and of course not spending money there, the result is catastrophic bushfire with the whole world Googling Australia, well, bushfires in Australia, or, maybe, Scotty from Marketing. . Instead of listening to fire chiefs, Scotty saved money for Joshy's piggy bank and gave money to Bridget McKenzie, (sports minister at the time, now Agriculture Minister and of course, Deputy Leader of The National Party), to splash money on sporting bodies, prior to the election. There were no doubt some worthy recipients, however, McKenzie disregarded the advice from Sport Australia and others, deciding instead to shower sporting bodies in marginal electorates, like Tony Abbot's, with cash for projects. Her defence is straight out of the Scotty from Marketing playbook, don't answer the question and tell everyone how bloody good you are. Bridget from the money booth told us, I gave labour electorates 34% of that funding. But that wasn't the question, it was that you disregarded advice by the body set up to oversee the grants and gave extra time in the money booth to Marginal electorates. I'm sure those Labour areas are pleased they saw such an even handed third of the funding. . Mr. urn. .

It seems like there is more trouble for Scotty from Marketing down at the Used Australia Dealership. Now, we've talked about Bridget from the money booth giving extra time to those she wanted to sell a used bit of Australia to. Well, it turns out that someone in the office has said that Scotty from Marketing knew about it and maybe more. Now, since his predecessor was stabbed, in the back, Scotty has been in charge, so, it seems the buck may just stop with him. Problem for him is, marketing is a poor defence to used Australians.
