Not the best in the battle for some decent sleep, but at least you'll have company. I fell asleep the other night typing a forum topic, when I woke up , I forgot what I was trying to say ?

I had to take pills and it still didn't help until they put me on something really strong, but then i couldn't work, cos i was so woozy all day after. Eventually i discovered that i was drifting into the lighter stages of sleep and then waking up because i was worried i was waking up (twisted i know). I was concerned if i woke up i wouldn't get enough sleep, which became a self fulfilling prophecy. It turns out you sleep in 1 & 1/2 hour waves and you do nearly wake up every 1 & 1/2 hours. Once i came to terms with this i now get 8 hours... Well 7 & 1/2 or 9. I'm still nocturnal though... Get better sleep once the suns up than i do when its down.

I know I'm breaking the rule by posting this at 7pm. I should be waiting until 2am!! lol. I have had an insomnia week. I've only slept around 3 hours each night this whole week. It come and goes for me. Snapping out of it tonight. Counting sheep hahaha... yeah right! No but seriously, snapping out of it tonight. When my next insomnia week comes around I'll revisit this thread and pure my heart out at 3am in the morning lol. Hope you guys sleep well tonight ;-) good luck

I can go to sleep in any bed , any time any where! Actually being good at sleeping is about my only talent. Perhaps I could offer to share my bed ( for a sleep over) with you insomniacs and we could work on methods for getting you to sleep.

that I've never suffered from this However when I was a shift worker I used to stress when I knew I was about to work the 3 nighters straight - 12-16 hour shift. Id worry that I wouldn't get enough sleep during the day to turn around and do it all again the following night I went to the dr to get some emergency standby sleeping tablets but she gave me a natural remedy instead Take a pinch of Pink Himaylan salt , it has to be pink Himlayan salt, do not substitute this and mix it in with a little bit of honey. Place this under the tongue and let it melt while sliding into your comfy bed. Before you know it, sleep. Works for me.

A new challenge along my current journey of being a full time carer for my parent 😊 Five months ago, I made a decision to change my lifestyle for the sake of my health and for good in general. I started watching my diet by cutting out/down on all of my favourite food and swapped them with healthy options such as, basmati rice and multi grains breads which are low GI, but high in protein, etc. I also began to eat lesser amount in each meal but eat more often, and increased my cardio exercise. With all these new changes and the discipline of my mind to know what is good and bad for me in the long run, I have lost so much weight that I can now fit into my old clothes again, as well as feeling fitter physically 😊 I am not an insomniac. I stay up late merely because I need to keep watch on my mother as she doesn't usually fall sound asleep until much later in the night 😊 And since Freya said that I could post anything on this thread, I thought I would share with you that the new challenge I've picked up is indeed helping me to take my mind away from my duty of care for my mother a little 😊 - Posted from rhpmobile

It's almost 2am. After deciding to turn the TV off and come to bed, I realised I'd washed my sheets earlier today, so went to retrieve them from the dryer. Got sidetracked along the way, and somehow ended up completely cleaning up and reorganising the ensuite. So, now I'm lying here, bed still not made, but with a lovely fresh bathroom. I'm completely exhausted, but not at all tired, and my mind is buzzing a million miles an hour. 2am is NOT the time to be thinking about relationships. - Posted from rhpmobile

It seems that for many people being able to express themselves, being free to embrace and indeed integrate their kinky creative selves is all about opportunity...I think many people have secret lives ..I also think if you are known as an artist or creative and are part of that community then there is more acceptance, even an expectation of difference xxFreya

5:30 here now - awake again after a couple of hours sleep, and the scariest dream I've had in ages. Nightmares suck arse. I'm now lying here in what used to feel like a wonderful freshly made bed - now it's all hot and sweaty, and not in the good way. I'd love to go to Hellfire one night - if sounds fascinating! So glad you had a good night, Willow. I need a group of likeminded Sydney friends to go to Hellfire with me one one night. - Posted from rhpmobile

Quoting 'willow_2' CruisinBi... Sing me a song 😆 I love the way you look tonight With your hair hangin' down on your shoulders, And I love the way you dance your slow sweet tango, The way you wanna do everything but talk And how you stare at me with those undress me eyes, Your breath on my body makes me warm inside. Let's make out, let's do something amazing, Let's do something that's all the way 'Cause I never touched somebody like the way I touch your body, Now I never want to let your body go ... Now then, the next time you find yourself sleepless...I would be more than happy to help keep you awake for the rest of the night.

Interesting to read so many having bad dreams. It's the Full Moon. I'm a great believer weather effect what we do and when we do it. ATM I'm dealing with another bout of vertigo, I put this down to the low pressure created by low heavy clouds. I can almost predict when my vertigo is likely to occur . Usually happens in the change of seasons.. Oh yeah , I'm having vivid dreams also.

If you're having any problems with sleep, then talk to your GP about getting an overnight sleep assessment. I did ten years ago after chronic difficulties getting to sleep and extreme fatigue on waking. The diagnosis was severe sleep apnoea. I'd stop breathing at least 15 times an hour during sleep. My GP then found that my sinuses were completely blocked, which made it obstructive sleep apnoea. Two Ear Nose and Throat surgeons examined me and said that I had too much loose tissue at the back of my throat from chronic tonsillitis as a child, a deviated septum in my nose and a large polyp in my sinus, all of which blocked my entire airway when I was lying on my back. Sleep had been nothing more than tossing, turning and waking up for several years. A month later I had surgery that removed the polyp, straightened the septum and removed the loose tissue around my tonsils with a laser. The next day, for the first time in several years, I slept for eight hours straight and woke up having had a dream. The first dream for as long as I could remember.

For those who don't understand what happens with vertigo, the only comparison I can think of is it's the same as the first time you drank too much alcohol and got room spins when you laid down, except vertigo is likely to last a few weeks. Any quick eye or body movement sets it off . Wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Thanks for the light bulb moment!!! Hubby thinks I should be a weather girl for predicting storms because I always get a migraine with the change in pressure. But the vertigo I've never linked to anything! Very insightful! Hubby and I talked until 3am lying in bed.....I think we spoke more than we have in the last five years haha! So sadly no forum for me but I was here in spirit 😉

I fall asleep easily enough but I wake in the early hours of the morning regularly. For me it's related to low blood sugar. I can sometimes get back to sleep by having some honey or juice, but not always. I don't know if I'll be posting here in the middle of the night however, I try very hard to stay away from blue light when I wake up. I'm far less likely to fall asleep again if I pick up my phone or tablet.

I've had a shocking fortnight trying to sleep (job issues, house moving issues, family issues)....So when that happens, I'll often get out of bed and go lay on the couch with the windows open. Listening to the world's movements at 3am often helps, but then I wake at 6 on the couch! Wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't on my own!

I had my first episode of vertigo about 10 years ago and at least once every year since. I got over doctors telling me they don't know why it happens and what can be done for it. Finally , I now have a doctor who took notice of low pressure from weather theory. Don't know what he will do with it , but at least he recognised the possible benefits . I can well imagine the effect this would have on migraine also. Good to learn you and hubby chatted til 3 am.. lol.. Must of been a interesting convo.. Cheers

Is when your airway becomes obstructed not your sinuses....usually the muscles at the back of your mouth relax too much allowing your tonsils etc to breach over your airway which causes snoring. Central apnoea is another component where essentially you forget to breathe hence you just stop. CPAP or Constant positive airway pressure therapy uses a pressurised mask to help keep your airways inflated and free of obstructions.... I have an Autoset machine, and I could be wrong but I think it's referred to as an APAP. It detects the type of apnoea you're having and either ramps up the pressure to what's needed or it pulses in a low pressure to simulate a parent blowing on a baby's face to get them to breathe when they're either laughing too hard or crying lol

If I stick to this sleep cycle on my break it works also..as soon as I break it I become an insomniac!...so I think key is get up early and stay up.

I don't usually get to bed before 3am and get up around 7am for work. I have a lot of nightmares so staying awake is intentional unlike most of you folk. Plus I smoke crazy amounts of herb just trying for a zonked out sleep. Some fridays/saturdays I skip sleeping all together!

Hi Q, I didn't know the cheese thing, interesting. I've sought treatment & am probably the healthiest mentally that I've been for over 20 years. I was diagnosed with 'severe depression, anxiety and agoraphobia' in my late teens and PTSD more recently. I see a psychiatrist regularly and am on quite effective medication so things are great. Well, except the nightmares. Psych offered sleeping aids to enable zonkness (excuse the technical medical phrasing) but they make me too goofy for work the next day, so I told him I'd try herbal methods. I'm lucky enough to have free & open access to smokable herb and it works well. Of course their are still some bad nights but thats fine, everyone has them I guess. xoxo - Posted from rhpmobile

And after two hours of sleep I am awake again. I am back to work tomorrow but just for a day because of ANZAC day. I watched the Antiques Roadshow's Anzac Day programme and was moved to tears by some of the letters soldiers sent home to their loved ones.
